    Person of Interest wasn’t that hot, although the “who-dunit” aspect was clever. Unfortunately I had the FBI agent pegged almost from the moment he was introduced.

    And yes, you don’t have to be a Marine to own a Kabar knife – those things are everywhere in both original and knockoff models. :-)

    At least tonight I have a full four shows to watch: Grimm, Cult, Nikita and Banshee. That ends a really pathetic week of almost nothing to watch every night.

    @ Eleanor: I too had the feeling of a lovely old Agatha comfy mystery when watching last night’s POI. I don’t even care if I guess “who done it” anymore. I’ll take any true mystery (not suspense – there’s a difference) I can get. I usually have to rely on the BBC and PBS.

    @Keith

    C’mon man. Do you really need to make your point by dissing another show, i know others have said things about Greys but don’t stoop to their level. Every damn Thursday there’s a fight between Greys and POI fanatics. There two completely different shows and shouldn’t be compared. Greys is nearing the end of a long, good run, whiled POI is just beginning its. Don’t you think it’s a little presumptuous of you to say this show won’t last 9 seasons just because you dont like it! :)

    Anyway, just trying to lighten the mood here a bit. Don’t want to see another fanboy flame war :)

    @Alan

    I guess Glee is up only because of American Idol.

    Glee has American Idol as a lead-in every week, and this week American Idol is actually down to a season low. You act as if Glee usually leads out of something lower-rated.

    Glee is likely up because (a) it was a highly promoted episode (500th song, I believe), and (b) it didn’t have to face Grey’s Anatomy, a show that has a lot of crossover with Glee.

  • theCroup

    Glee came back with a high number from its last mid-season hiatus, with a 2.6 or 2.5 following Idol and promptly fell the following week, even though it continued to follow Idol. The show’s ratings are just unpredictable including how much help it actually gets from Idol, if any at this point.

    @Ultima

    Community has enough episodes for cable syndication (thus the Comedy Central deal), they’ll be at 84 episodes at the end of this season. But in order for highly lucrative strip syndication (big four networks) they need around 100 episodes. That’s why I see Sony finding some way to get a Season 5, may it be on NBC or cable.

  • Sheldon Hooper

    Do the fans of Community have to do backflips in the comments every time the show does well? On another note, Big Bang Theory rules!

  • joel

    Community will be NBC’s new Thursday 9 p.m. tent pole next year.

  • Sheldon Hooper

    @ the person who asked why TBBT always adjusts up…

    TBBT almost always runs a minute or two over

  • TerryJacksonNYC

    Community may be renewed. And it may even air at 9PM on Thursdays. But it will never be considered a “tent pole” show.

    I’m a huge fan. I think some of this season’s episodes have been lacking… at least in the quality we’ve come to expect since the middle of the first season.

    Anybody who still believes a show needs 100 episodes to be successfully stripped hasn’t been paying attention to the deals that have been inked during the past five years. An episode count in the mid-80s is usually enough these days. Since Community is already stripped for syndication, Sony has less incentive to do a Till Death-style deal (that would result in something close to Sony paying NBC). The show will come back only if NBC asks; that might happen.

  • BigBrotherFan

    As much as I HATE GLEE, even I will admit that’s a good number for a stupid and annoying show in it’s 4th season. Congrats GLEEKS! Don’t get all HYSTERICAL over the number, though.

    Not bad for Community. Why is this show’s numbers all over the place?

    Also, FOLKS, keep in mind SCANDAL is a heavily serialized show, OF COURSE it’s repeats will suck! I mean, come on! Why do you think these types of shows are a b!tch to sell into syndication? It will be just fine.

    FLOPAMENTRY did well for a repeat but a 2.8 lead-in and the fact it’s the CASE OF THE WEEK CBS CRIME DRAMA is expected. Not bad, though. Not bad, at all. I will say. It pains me to see that it TOPPED VEGAS in a orginal run, though :( this show is crap or may I say, Johnny Lee Miller is crap LUI still has it for mid 40′s.

    NBC should really cancel 1600 PENN it just looks so pathetic on them now to keep shows SMASH, THE NEW NORMAL, 1600 PENN that can’t even achieve a 1 in the 18-49 demo. NBC do you honestly wanted to be below UNIVISION forever..?HOW SAD!

  • LANDO’S SON

    Another great episode of POI,but what has now-deceased Agent Staten done to The Machine? And how is Det.Carter going to deal with Beecher going forward now that he helped save the day along side her? Hmmm.

  • Ryne

    @ Joel

    I hope you are being sarcastic because that has no chance of happening.

    NBC needs to start fresh on thursday as this has been a train wreck the past few years. I would keep Community and Parks and Recreation but move to another night.

  • samurai99

    @Big Brother.

    Last week elementary had a 1.8 lead in and still got a 1.7 rating. You sure are pulling out all the excuses for Scandal doing so bad.

  • Oliver

    It’s worth mentioning Sony didn’t sell Community into broadcast syndication for 2013 (not the Comedy Central cable deal, but broadcast syndication, local stations).

    This is a strong sign that they think it will be renewed. 97+ episodes is more valuable than 84.

  • LANDO’S SON

    Person of Interest + 14million plus viewers almost every week= many seasons to come for TEAM POI!!! Haters have no foundation to stand on.

  • electric_dog

    Why all this Gray (sp?) Anatomy talk. Is it still on air?

  • Dan

    POI just seems to be getting better and better. Incredible show happy for its success.

  • Mr Mumble

    @Oliver, would it be fair to say that it would also be odd for Sony to have forced a change in show runner if they were not shooting for 100 episodes with Community? If Sony were happy with 84 episodes then they’d have probably stuck with Dan Harmon for the final 13 episodes.

    The fat tail on Community may well be more lucrative than many give it credit for given the show was one of the first to get an exclusive VoD deal, DVD sales are strong and it has a lucrative young, cult, not-too female-centric audience. Sony/NBC may have decided more than a year-ago that they were going to hit 100 episodes no matter what. There’s an in-built lowering of the budget with Chevy leaving too.

  • sarah nz

    PoI stayed the same 2.8 as expected.

    I agree with Melissa and her comments on PoI on this thread were actually fair and not slamming/diss’ing the show. And I say this as both a PoI fan and someone that most of the time disagree’s with Melissa stance on Thursday show’s at 9pm :)

    Rob was the one that started the whole thing off, as he usually does every day with a whole heap of random shows – a nice game of bait the fan indeed.

    @ Ash – agreed.

    @ Eleanor – thanks for the Agatha Christie (?) description of the episode, will look at it with new eyes… had half my money on the fbi and half on the newly weds (don’t ask me why !).

    Getting worried about The Machine – lots of blue screens in the overview, due to the virus or part of the evolution into real AI.. or a mixture of both perhaps… interesting glitch’s in either case. Counting down to the season finale :)
