Will the Ratings for the Spring Premiere of 'Grimm' be Grim? - Poll

Grimm Season 2

Grimm returns tonight after a four month hiatus. The question is whether its audience will return as well. In its favor: a passionate fanbase, weak competition from Touch and fellow genre show Cult. Also, the show finally has an original lead-in, though it is the extremely incompatible Fashion Star. Working against it: going head-to-head with Friday's powerhouse Shark Tank, being off the air for so long, and airing on NBC in spring 2013. Its fall finale earned a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating. How will it do tonight? Make your predictions.

    They still have a case of the week but the overall story arc is starting to take center stage. You learn more about the history of the Grimm and about the conspriacy. Plus, there is a BIG story going on between Nick, Juliette and the Capt.

    I gave up on it too after the first three episodes but a friend convinced me to try again. I’m glad I did. It really does get better.

    I want to have high hopes for tonights episode because of what is supposed to happen. I don’t want to spoil anything with names but I read an article in TV Guide where one of the actors said there is a bedroom scene that needed stunt coordinators! However, I am going to be realistic and say it will be even or down from it’s last original airing.

    I agree with @Rebecca, will be lower this weekend, then bounce back next week after people see on their DVRs, online, etc., that they missed it.

    1.0, the new Fringe

  • David Howell

    1.4, falling later in the season, and the unthinkable prospect of cancellation becomes genuinely plausible by May.

    I’m guessing 1.7-1.8 but hope it does better than GB. Fortunately it’s a self starter & all season they’ve had mostly reruns at 8pm. It only perked up in the ratings when Mockingbird Lane aired last fall. Maybe FS should replace Smash on Tues since this couldn’t be a more incompatible lead in to Grimm.

    Only NBC can make a show’s 22 episodes from August 13th to May 10th. I’ve never watched Grimm before, but tonight I’m going to start.

    What kind of a idiot network puts a show on hiatus from NOVEMBER TO MARCH?

    That’s almost a longer wait than waiting all summer for a new season.

    I lose Grimm but the hiatus made me lost interest a little.

  • Ricky

    1.6 is my guess, but I’m hoping for much higher. I have three amazing shows going against each other at once, but being off air for four months makes Grimm my #1 priority (followed by Cult and Touch in that order.)

    My wife reminded me last night that Grimm was returning tonight. I was surprised because I couldn’t recall seeing any ads for it. Then I realized that I currently do not watch ANY other shows on NBC. None. Zero. Zitch. Nada. Out of all the things working against it, the overall failure of a network that NBC has become is probably its biggest hurdle.

    “What kind of a idiot network puts a show on hiatus from NOVEMBER TO MARCH?”

    The same idiot that just got passed by Univision.

    To those people who think Cult and Golden Boy is going to hurt it: <5% chance of that happening!

    Golden Boy under-performed in its Tuesday slot and Cult hasn't done well enough to get a renewal.

  • BL

    NBC did the wrong thing to premiere Grimm after the Olympics. They should’ve waited until October.

    @BL
    Agreed.

    @Shepherd You think Golden Boy will hurt it? not gonna happen. GB is moved back to Tuesdays after tonight because CBS feels that Vegas hasn’t performed well in the Tuesday slot.]
    Plus, Cult is not going to give it any competition. It had the worst premiere for any network in the history of 5-network.
    One thing I do agree: Shark Tank will give strong competition for sure as that show continues to do well and often outperforms most of the ABC line-up.

    @David Howell
    Please stop predicting that it will get cancelled. It’s not like the ratings have released yet. Plus, it faces zero competition from CBS until April 5 due to Golden Boy moving back to Tuesdays with Vegas taking a longer hiatus.

    1.3- Way too long of a break. It will go up.

    Hope for the best, fear the worst … same philosophy I have for death, taxes and marriage … and returning library books, grocery shopping, visits to the dentist, watching the news, cleaning the kitty litter … ok ok, it’s my life philosophy.

    Nothing says NBC like taking a show doing decent (for NBC) numbers and yanking it off the air for 4 months … I’m leaning to the fear side of things … Damn Monkey!

    ymmv

    it doesn’t matter that Cult is a crappy show that nobody watches. I still think anyone who watches Cult, also watches Grimm. Given how obsessive Cult fans are, even if there are only a hand full of them, many will watch Cult live over Grimm.

    Had it aired in a timely fashion, without any significant change in competition, I think it would premier to a 1.5-1.6.

    ST will eat .1-.15 away, GB will eat .05 away, and Cult will eat .1 away. The only question in my mind is how much the 4 month break hurts it, I say around a .1-.2 hit. That’s a total of a .4-.5 hit in my mind = 1.1-1.2. Think whatever you wish.

    @Shepherd We’ll see who’s right.

    1.8. For some reason i think it will do very well. But it might do bad tough to call it.

  • John A

    Have NBC gave it good promotion?

    @ article title: I see what you did there :)
