Escape Fire

CNN Films' first documentary, Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue Healthcare drew 642,000 total viewers Sunday night. Additionally, Sunday's premiere airing drew 251,000 viewers in the 25-54 demographic, which is a 159% increase over CNN's year-to-date average.

    Only just below 90210!

Both numbers higher than what they got in any hour of regular programming on Monday, or on most of the previous week for that matter.

In other words, CNN just can’t get those numbers with their weekday programming, primetime included.

Knowing the way CNN skews, I’d guess this means 100-150k in the 18-49 demo. I still can’t figure out which is sadder; the fat that the show only got 650k viewers, that it only got 250k in the 25-54, or the fat that 250k is 159% of their season average. It’s not looking good for CNN.

    Hardly anything to brag about.

Did it beat MSNBC’s prison shows? ;)

The film was NOT a production of CNN itself, as the story above might lead a reader to believe. “CNN Films” actually purchased the rights to a pre-existing documentary that was exhibited in 2012’s Sundance Film Festival. Hey, buying documentaries for a separately-owned cable channel was Current TV’s business plan!
