The Sing-Off

NBC has announced that reality competition The Sing Off will be returning for a fourth season, and auditions are slated for April 27-May 18. No air dates or number of episodes ordered have been revealed yet.

Hah hah good early April Fools joke. Just waiting to hear when NBC revives Harry’s Law.

I didn’t think this would be back, based on the numbers it got last time around. But, as someone said, those numbers still were better than what a number of NBC shows are getting now.

The show delivered really solid ratings when it ran as a holiday special in seasons 1 & 2, so I think it will perform well once again. It was brave, but ultimately, stupid of NBC to air season 3 in the fall even though it was the best season in terms of talent. They would be stupid to offer Nicole to come back b/c the American public was turned off by her on X Factor. Besides, Sara Bareilles was a great addition to the panel & spoke with authority as a former acapella singer herself. If NBC is smart (oxymoron, I know) they will bring back Sara, Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Nick Lachey.

First Secret Millionaire, then Wife Swap, then Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, now this… When will networks finally realize that bringing reality shows back from the dead won’t bring them high ratings?

The biggest problem with this is whether it dilutes The Voice, which NBC have to protect at all costs. However, it’s clearly got a niche within singing shows, and can slot in December holes.

Will this replace NBC’s attempt to launch new game shows in the December strip format that launched Deal or No Deal and was unsuccessful the last two years (well I say that, Take It All with no leadin still topped most of the sitcoms)?

Ratings aside, this show is great. Happy to hear this.

NBC sucks so much that this is considered a hit to them….lol.

This is a nice alternative to MURDER MURDER MURDER on CBS.

I could have sworn the sing off was canceled last I heard…

Am I the only one psyched for this?

No, I am. It’s the only singing competition I can stand. I’m sure the ratings won’t be that great but I happy to see it come back.
