It looks like the Veronica Mars Kickstarter project that began just yesterday has been a rousing success.  Could a Chuck movie now be a possibility? Star Zachary Levi has apparently been watching the Veronica Mars Kickstarter saga unfold and sent out this cryptic tweet yesterday....

So would you fund a Chuck movie? Is it even a viable idea? Cast your vote below and tell us what other canceled TV shows you would plunk $10 down to see resurrected on the big screen in the comments!

    Here’s the reality: Every fan wants to see his favorite shows get a second shot.

    And it’s not going to happen until computer technology makes it possible for every fan to make his own movie with CGI images of the original cast (if they don’t sue him!).

    If this VM thing actually gets made, a tiny handful of others might actually get made as well IF and ONLY IF the studio involved thinks it can do profitably. It’s not that expensive to make a TV movie compared to a theatrical feature. It’s cheaper than doing two or three episodes of a series. So that kind of thing could happen.

    But it’s not going to happen for every show every fan thinks should be made.

    God forbid TSCC gets a movie run by Josh Friedman. That butthead ruined the series in the first place. His third season concepts were ridiculous. They didn’t even KNOW what they were going to do with the title character in the third season! When they hired Shirley Manson for season two, Josh said he didn’t even know what to do with her character and yet she ended being the main character in the season. The guy is a complete incompetent.

    So forget the excitement. It’s likely nothing but Veronica Mars and maybe one or two other properties will get made.

    Better to spend money on NEW concepts than resurrecting the dead – especially the BAD dead. We’ve got enough zombies on The Walking Dead! :-)

    Oh, and these are probably the same people complaining every time the networks do a remake of some old series or the studios do a remake of some old movie.

    This is an appropriate place to reference the Gunsmoke Rule – the world has moved on.

    @SR & @TheEnd
    Yeah, I know about the Saturday burn-off and that probably all of season 2 of Smash has been filmed. It was just wishful thinking that I’d just see a movie to sum it up in 2-3 hours instead of watching the sometimes tedious episodes that are left to air. And I say that as a fan, lol. But making a movie of 24 would be better, like I said earlier.

  • Rebecca

    Someone said earlier that Deadwood didn’t end properly? That sucks, because I just finished season two on dvd and am about to watch season 3. If it ends without a proper finale it’ll feel like a waste.

  • Amy

    I can’t believe people donated money to make this movie when they’re not going to get a return on their investment. Also if the creators of VM couldn’t get financing, the script must be awful.

    remember people, this is a matter of WANT not NEED. I along with the rest of Chuck’s passionate fanbase do want a movie. The opinion of need is open to how devoted to the show you are. If there was a kickstarter campaign for Chuck and it received anything like the love Veronica Mars is getting now, then hell yes, let’s make it happen. Watching all of the interviews, every single Chuck cast member loved working on the show and they all but cried when talking about the finale and the fans. While I can’t speak for their availability now, I don’t see why they wouldn’t be up for a movie.

    Bottom line? I really WANT it to happen, and to all my Chuck friends, I might even say I need it. But I think it might be unfair for people who have never even seen the show to say either way. I’ve never seen an episode of Heroes, so I can’t say whether it “needs” a movie or not.

    I’m surprised there’s never been a Magnum PI TV movie. Seems like that would kill in the ratings. I would think it would at least do a lot better than a Jesse Stone movie.

  • Trey

    We need a Heroes movie.

  • Oliver

    @Amy

    No-one was willing to fund a movie version of a low-rated UPN show. Too risky. This was the only way the film was going to happen.

  • Anthony

    @Everyone asking for Heroes Movie

    Listen, I am as big of a heroes fan as the next person, but it will certainly not happen at this point. There was a possibility of it happening shortly after the series ended but there are far too many actors involved with varying degrees of availability and salary demands in order to make it work. Something like Chuck (or Veronica Mars) is easier to accomplish because there are only a few actors (Maybe 5 or 6) that need to be available to make it work versus a show like heroes (which would need at least 10 possibly up to 20 to make a satisfying movie- in terms of concluding the series).

  • Jane Elliot

    @Amy: they may not be getting a return on their investment, but most of them are getting something for their contribution outside of the making of the movie. Frankly I think the $35 category is a pretty good deal — a copy of the movie, plus t-shirt, plus shooting script would probably be valued at well more than $35 if Warner Bros. was funding the entire project themselves.

  • Kavyn

    inb4 people propose a Nikita movie after season 4 ends ;)

    But yes, I will DEFINITELY support a Chuck movie. I doubt I’d support anything else though (I didn’t support Veronica Mars but I was stoked to see how popular its kickstarter campaign turned out to be).

  • SR

    @Amy The Investors Will Get Small Returns, Depending On Their Investment Value. Those That Donated $10,000 + Will Get A Stand In Role, Lesser Contributors Will Get A Phone Call From The Cast, Etc. And As For The Script, No Script Exists. Nothing Has Been Started, Yet. After The Kickstart Ends, All Of That Will Begin.

  • Revenger

    Let’s try this for a Ringer movie!!!! How can we get this started???

  • GARY

    My take is should there be a Chuck movie?

    Yes but only if they did a Dallas dream sequence where Chuck wakes up and he’s still the loveable nerd of season one and Sarah Walker is his complicated kick-ass minder

  • John A

    I would love a Pushing Dasies movie. That was a great show.

  • Kitsune

    Anybody who votes for anything other than Absolutely with those wordings have bad opinions. And I’ve never watched Chuck.

  • danny94

    Abc’s alien show invasion that was on back in 2005, it was such a great show that got cancelled and left us with a huge cliffhanger, would love to see it get some closure but i’m not that naive i think veronica mars is an exception

  • kev873

    Legend of the Seeker, Eureka and Serenity 2 (Firefly) need to be made (along with Chuck of course lol)

  • cadburyeasteregg
