    @Ted Craig

    “There is no such thing as a lead-out.”

    Sure there is. If there is a show a lot of people want to watch at 8 (Middle), and a show someone really wants to watch at 9 (MF)the show in between can benefit from both. There’s bound to be some people who simply watch the neighbors because thats what is there between the two, and some people who turn in early for MF and catch some of neighbors. Sometimes it is just as helpful to have a good show after you as it is before you. That’s why networks anchor shows the way they do, sandwiching shows with smaller bases between shows with larger ones…

    “Also, Neighbors retains its own audience, for the most part, from week to week, as demonstrated when The Middle is in a rerun. It has a core fan base.”

    Sometimes. Though a 1.4 isn’t great on one of your core nights. (Also, about what repeats of Middle and Suburgatory did the same night at 1.3) Even when it scored a 1.7 last week, the Middle still scored about the same at 1.6. So Neighbors is basically just doing with a repeat 1/10/point better than the Middle repeat no matter what. So, is it “their” base or people who are willing to watch the Middle for the second time also are willing to watch the Neighbors once?

    I just don’t think that 1.7 translates to Friday. It could be a disaster at 1.0 or less.

    @BBFan, please be nice. Everyone has a right to their opinion. Nashville is just a TV show and if people want to say they don’t like it then that is their opinion. I just find its ratings, (new eps and repeats) to be big disappointments considering I think it has gotten more promotion than many other TV shows this season. I feel that it will get renewed only on the fact that Red Widow and Zero Hour have bombed, not because it is a “hit” that ABC keeps trying to promote it as.

    @Ultima, thanks for explaining about the repeats. Learn something new everyday!

    Marc is 100% right.

  • Ted Craig

    No, Marc is not right. His arguments aren’t even right.

    Suburgatory’s ratings have dipped after MF repeats, while Neighbors have been consistently above The Middle’s repeat numbers since the start of the year.

    @BigBrother @Ultima Fan Im talking about RECENT dips, not overall. I’m not an idiot, clearly Survivor fell the most in its first few seasons. I understand what you are saying, how Survivor took the big rapid dip first well into its early years but recently, Idol had started to dip much faster than Survivor. Not to mention the fact that Survivor doubles up its seasons, so its doing very well for a show in its 26th season.
