'Saturday Night Live' HITS 14-MONTH HIGHS

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – March 15, 2013 – The March 9 edition of “Saturday Night Live," with host and musical guest Justin Timberlake, has achieved the show’s highest national results in 14 months in both adults 18-49 and total viewers.

Averaging a 3.4 rating, 14 share in adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers overall, the March 9 telecast scored the show’s highest results in both categories since January 7, 2012, with a telecast hosted by Charles Barkley and featuring musical guest Kelly Clarkson on the night of a primetime NFL playoff game.

The March 9 "Saturday Night Live" tied the #6 primetime telecast of the week on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 (CBS's "NCIS") and trailed among the week’s primetime programs on those networks only CBS's "Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" and Fox's three editions of "American Idol."

Prior season highs for "SNL" came with the January 26 telecast hosted by Adam Levine and featuring musical guest Kendrick Lamar, which averaged a 2.7/10 in 18-49 and 7.3 million viewers overall.

The March 9 edition featured guest appearances by Dan Aykroyd, Alec Baldwin, Candice Bergen, Chevy Chase, Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Martin Short and Paul Simon.

Give this guy a variety hour!

    Timberlake > Bieber

Best episode of the season thus far, and the numbers definitely reflect that.

The March 9th episode of Saturday Night Live, with Justin Timberlake, was actually funny. It’s been a long time since SNL has been funny.

It would have been funnier if Billy Crystal had appeared as a member of the 5 time host club, in his character of Jodie Dallas (Soap).

I always watch SNL on dvr so I can fast forward thru most of it. This time, I often didn’t, watching 3 and 4 skits in their entirety. Best show in a long time.

If only NBC executives would try that instead of Guys with Kids and Community.
