Way to go B&B. Keep up the good work. B&B is truly on fire.

  • Mike

Too bad Days couldn’t have been singled out in the headline too. Even with B&B setting the 4 year record, Days was the only soap up in Total Viewers and both Key Demos this week. Good job Days. I don’t watch but glad to see the show doing better.

  • robert

Way to go CBS soaps. All soaps up from last year.

  • TimsDale4ever

That’s just amazing for B&B when you consider they lost 2 of there heavy hitters recently. Just shows you what good writing and producing can do for a show regardless of who’s on it!

  • Derrick

    Wow B&B……………………Congratulations!

  • Scott_N_ATL

I’m very interested to see the week of GH’s 50th anniversary and if they attract old viewers + newbies to build on a great ratings year. I know me and my GHers will be watching…

  • GoodTV

I heard on the talk that Bold and Beautiful is changing format to a full hour.

  • Jason

To continue their ratings surge, GH needs to bring Scorpio out of a coma and rehabilitate Heather. This focus of late with Kate/Connie/Sonny in addition to the stupid Lulu/Dante/Maxie/Spinelli baby thing is going to drive me (and probably others) away. Maybe it’s a guy thing but I have zero interest in the Maxie pregnancy story. With all of the good things I’ve seen on GH over the last year, why ruin them with these storylines????

  • Mike

I have no idea since I am not watching GH at all, but are the people who returned not on anymore? I thought that GH would be getting higher ratings with Frisco returning after so long and Laura and Scotty back too. Have they already left?

  • Mike

    @GoodTV

I personally think that will be a mistake if B&B goes to an hour. I love the fact that it is 30 minutes and so easy to keep up with. I watch it every day no matter what because I can fit it in easier.

I’m not a Nielsen family so it doesn’t matter anyway, but if I was many times my viewing wouldn’t count for Y&R because I sometimes can’t fit it in each day and often wait and watch multiple episodes sometime quite a few days after it airs. But that is my choice. I watch out of convenience to my schedule.

Pretty good results for the soaps during the first non-sweeps week. The soaps have definitely gained a huge amount of viewers over this time last year so they are finally trending upwards instead of downwards like they’ve been the past 20 years.

B&B is the most consistent of the bunch and having that 4-year high in HH with a 2.7 is awesome. Y&R is holding up well also as their 40th Anniversary event should help in the coming weeks maybe get them back to 5 million.

GH is continuing their momentum really well right now heading into their 50th.

DAYS is the one I’m still amazed with the show to me honestly is the best in quality of the bunch and that was not the case about a few months ago as it was the worst like the ratings were proving but now this show has become really reliable for NBC.

    @ GoodTV & Mike

I heard about the hour long switch as well which is rather strange since I didn’t think CBS had an extra 30 minutes to open up unless they will reduce the time for Let’s Make a Deal or something. I think B&B is better off as a 30-minute soap its short, sweet, and to the point. I think that’s why its ratings are more consistent over the other soaps as well as I think that’s really going to help the reboots of AMC and OLTL this year as well.

CBS would’ve been served if they’re thinking of going this route just reviving As the World Turns and having Bell buy that soap out and turn it into 30 minutes.

  • Edward

Everybody has a right to their opinion, but Days better than Y@R and Bold? Don’t see that. I was a huge Days fan, but its not the same. The Kristen has helped out the show a lot recently though I will add.

  • Nick

This idea of a ratings surge for GH is ridiculous. They are up a little over all but are actually down almost 300,000 from the high they hit about 3 months ago. They are in a ratings sputter right now.

I agree the Scorpio in a coma idea was by far the dumbest thing they did. That ratings high was just after all the Anna/Robert/Duke/Faison stuff. They just don’t get that Robert Scorpio is a bigger character than most of the others they are bringing back, including Laura. Tristan Rogers is way more fun to watch than Genie Francis.(The same was true on Y & R)

  • Melanie P.

@Jason, no you are not alone. I am too, tired of the Kate/Connie and Sonny storyline and not too crazy about Maxie being Dante and Lulu’s surrogate. All this is a plotline to get Maxie back with Spinelli. I want Dante and Lulu to find out that she can carry a baby to term and they have one on their own. On another note, I found out Julie Marie Berman (Lulu) has left the show and will be replaced by Marcy (Emme) Rylan who currently plays Abby on Y&R. I will miss Julie because she quickly became one of my faves and am interested to see how Rylan does in the role.

    @ Edward

The fact that we can even debate on which one is better is something we could never do with these soaps the past five years b/c most of them were terrible. Y&R to me could be seen as the best but its real close, B&B’s triangle hurts them a bit if they keep the focus on Rick & Maya and other storylines then they would be the best as well.

I just feel like DAYS has the same balance that GH does with their characters and storylines.

    @ Nick

It is still a ratings surge, how is reaching 3 million after a hype period back in November not a ratings surge? Did you see GH’s ratings last year around this time?

  • GoodTV

I prefer B/B as a half hour show too. When one of the hour long shows get boring it is harder to hang tough.

  • Melanie P.

Oh yes, I too want to see more of Robert, Anna, Luke, Laura and Scotty. Where have they all been lately? It is annoying to hype of some of these returns, esp Laura, and don’t show them much. I also read that Bobbie, Brenda and Audrey will return in the coming weeks. Hope they stick around long term, but I got the feeling it will mostly be for the 50th anniversary.

  • Rickster

    Way to go B&B!

This is what happens when you have talented writing, an all star cast, AND the ability to MIX young and old characters seamlessly! Networks and Execs keep thinking that just dumping young people is the answer – it definitely isn’t.

DAYS is another great story – They are hitting homeruns OUT OF THE PARK.

Congrats on another great SOAP week!

  • PatF

Wow for the Bold and the Beautiful…for a soap to continually increase for over two years now is something else.

I doubt they’d move it to an hour, but if they did I doubt it would HURT its current upward path.

A 3.4 for Y and R is also good for this time of year. Hope to see it continue to inch up as well, especially during it’s 40th celebration.

Even though Days was up, those 1.8 days are not a good thing.
