Thanks for letting people know how naive you are. You know nothing about the television so you should probably do people a favor and STFU right now. You do know network executives have more access to numbers we don’t see right? You do know The CW is in the business of making money right? You do know they own all of their shows right? You do know the money they make overseas can help them turn profits on their shows budgets right?

Judging by your knowledge you didn’t know any of that. Let the people who know the business inside and out comment here and you go back to doing your homework little kid.

787 Nikita News: “Well its safe because you never saw the financial numbers that were released in late February stating that the show is doing well overseas which was something that The Secret Circle wasn’t able to do so it will be coming back based on what it did overseas.”

No, it will not. Overseas sales generally do not control local market renewal. They may TIP the show over into profitability if it’s low in the local market, but it’s not likely to pay for the network’s airings.

At this point, given the sad state of the CW, BATB has a better chance at renewal than TCD, which has NO chance of renewal. However, BATB has a lower chance of renewal than HoD which is stable (if low) and has somewhat of a shot at syndication being in its second season.

However, I continue to predict that BATB will drop over its remaining seven episodes until its season average – currently .65 – is at .5. This is cancellation territory for a first season show especially one that airs after the CW’s highest lead-in.

While no show seems to do well after TVD, TSC last season did much better and was canceled. It may be that the CW has learned not to put new shows behind TVD which is likely why The Originals was conceived and will undoubtedly take that time slot next season. Still, that doesn’t help BATB because it means the show would likely do WORSE in any other time slot. If renewed and moved to Friday next season it will likely do worse than Nikita while not having any syndication excuse.

So unless BATB can maintain a .6 season average through the end of its run, which I view as doubtful, I think it will be canceled. I can’t PROVE that it will drop to a season average of .5 but I think it’s very likely given the poor quality of the show and the DST effect.

Meant to write it earlier, At other site, half hrs for Elementary was 2.3/2.3. But this site, preliminary had it at 2.4. I dont think it’s adjusted down? Or the other site had it wrong?

    @ 787 Nikita News

I think you have officially crossed the line from brain-less to brain-dead.

787 Nikita News: “You do know network executives have more access to numbers we don’t see right?”

And except for syndication numbers, which we don’t see, other numbers are reflected in the ratings and the history of renewal we see here on this site.

“You do know The CW is in the business of making money right?”

Which is why BATB is hanging by a thread because its numbers – even for the CW – are on the low end of profitability based on renewals from previous seasons.

“You do know they own all of their shows right?”

The CW owns nothing. Warner Brothers and CBS own the shows. The CW has to show a profit and it has to produce shows that the parent companies can syndicate so they can show a profit. So far the CW is failing to do so. BATB is not helping that effort by its low numbers.

“You do know the money they make overseas can help them turn profits on their shows budgets right?”

If you use the phrase “turn profits”, yes. If you mean control renewal decisions, no.

“Judging by your knowledge you didn’t know any of that. Let the people who know the business inside and out comment here and you go back to doing your homework little kid.”

The same would apply to you. BATB is barely hanging on to a shot at renewal at this point. If it drops any further, it’s doomed.

Community was pretty good last night, but there’s no reason to expect that to translate into last night’s ratings. Many interested viewers watched the Season Premiere and moved on, likely permanently. If the show can consistently be what it was last night, or do better, then it might lure some back. But only some and that’s a big if.

@Richard Steven Hack: Great post! This is a great example of an intelligent reply to a not-so-intelligent post. Stating facts instead of “STFU GTFO, I know more than you” is very much appreciated!

    @NBC Fan

Through the magic of technology, pretty much all streaming media can play on my big screen TV. Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon and even downloaded video files all play. I have a DVR, but sometimes I swill watch the downloaded versions because they take all the commercials out for me.

You are right on the local market renewal clearance but CBS and WB will get the final say on what actually returns to production next season and if a show puts up piss poor numbers domestically but still makes them enough money in other areas then they will still bring it back. The CW has been working like that since the network started.

Pedowitz said it himself that the ratings are only factored around 20-30% of their decisions, its not as important as you guys make it out to be because they own their own shows and control the spending money on those shows.

If the ratings really mattered Nikita would’ve been a goner by now and so would BatB and just about all of The CW shows except VD, Arrow, and Supernatural.

Nikita and Beauty and the Beast from what I heard is cheaper to make because they film both of them in Canada and Nikita makes them a lot of money off of that Netflix deal and overseas.

Up 3 tenths, only TBBT ;)

    @ Mon

That Community episode on March 15th last year was its episode it came back from hiatus so people made sure they actually tuned in LIVE. It’s almost like the fans are killin the show.

But I believe that if Community is canceled on NBC it can live in on through Comedy Central

  • Beauty&theFlop

The Secret Circle was also filmed in Cananda so again your point is worth zilch.

It’s a shame for Grey’s that it’s hiting lows! Last night’s episode for those that couldn’t see it because of basketball was very good- best in awhile! It’s one I would watch again on repeats.

  • Grey

The adjustments still didn’t help “AI” and “POI” does end up beating “Greys.” Hmm.

TVD… What can I say? I stopped watching it last season, I tried to go back but it is the same old story… Booooring!!!! Elena loves Damon, Elena loves Stefan…zzzzz… Caroline was the only character worth watching, and Rebekah for not being a one dimension character like most of them… Such a shame, I did like that show. They are all vampires or werewolves now, hardly any human left… That’s probably why the writing is more robotic…

  • halloween

cw won’t save batb because of international sales…wb could shop show to basic cable channel like lifetime
