Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Dan: While there has been a five week drop in ratings from the 3.4, the last two episodes have been 2.9 and 2.8. So the drop isn’t that steady. If this episode is not adjusted down below 2.8, I think the show has stabilized at this level. Of course, as the weather warms up that could change. Still, the five-week drop is worrying.

However, the show did 2.8-3.0 during most of the fall episodes, so it’s too early to predict a guaranteed drop by end of season. The season average so far is 2.99, effectively 3.0.

  • Jazz

I thought Community was really good yesterday but I don’t jump to it like I used to. It’s a very hit or miss show. You never know what you will be getting.

    Sort of spoilerish….
Plus I am choosing to believe it is Dan Harmon on the other end of the line with Mr. Changnesia.

  • Billy

My question to every network is: Why in the world are you scheduling new episodes on a night when they knew they would have loads of preemptions ? Just doesn’t make sense. Why not save new episodes for weeks when shows have full coverage throughout the country. The finals could be a bigger bloodbath for these shows in addition to these already low numbers.

  • kevin

no Greys on my tv yesterday because of basketball :(

  • SJ

Congratulations, NBC! Parks and Rec is by far your best performing sitcom (in the running to come back next year) and yet you put it on yet ANOTHER 3-week break. Is it that impossible to get at least four Parks and Rec episodes in a row? Apparently…

  • JP

POI was incredible last night – that show is absolutely amazing – best show on tv!!!!! Go Resse and Finch, Carter, Fusco, HR, Elias and everyone in the cast!!!!!

  • CASam44

Nikki is why we no longer watch Idol and we have now stopped recording Greys as we are tired of them pushing their inter racial and gay agenda on us. We are not against either of their agenda’s but are so tired of having it pushed down our thoughts.
There is so much more to do than watch TV, especially these annoying shows.

  • ChannelDante

POI is super steady. Daylight savings time is kicking some ass LOL

  • DJR

Where are the white people on Idol. I’m talking judges, even in the beginning of Idol that was always a complaint that the judges would lean more toward urban performers. Not that I watch Idol in years, the now 75 percent of a certain race it’s bound to hurt in the long run in non-inner city markets.

  • Elijah

“Now I would have gladly done without these extra levels if they just used the extra space to make the game closer to the Arcade version.”

Really? So we know for 100% that POI would of for sure gotten a massive super bowl bump?

  • Robsten_Fan

Can someone tell me about what basketball you are talking about?
Was there something wrong with the shows air?

  • John_M

    A. Very few people care about the WBC tournament – i doubt it pulled much higher numbers than thursday night basketball on ESPN

    B. Any Big Bang Theory that revolves around howard I really should be in prison wolowitz and his annoying wife should see depressed ratings – they’re awful characters -

  • Tom

    @ Immaculite; @Josh; @Lalya; @Michelle

It’s laughable to see that you Beastlings are still in denial about the obvious fact that B&B is a bust. Any r&ationalization will do, right? At least you weren’t dense enough to claim the storyline was improving. That mantra is past worn out.

  • John A

DST? Come on it wasnt that much of a issue the past few days why is that been thrown around today?

  • Kerri

    @DAN

POI may drop a bit but pretty much this show is steady as you go. It peaks at times and drops at other times but mostly it stays in the 2.9 range with 14.5 – 15M viewers. The show is steady, safe and no doubt will be renewed.

  • Immaculate

    @Tom

What’s laughable is you. So please just STHU.

  • NBC Fan

Idol could fall below a 3.0 in finals because of preemptions.

  • Petar

    POI RULZZZZZZZ.

stop this hating for GREYS. It was great show with great run. CRIME fans not watch soap dramas so they not huert each other. So i am not happy. I prefer greys to be even with POI but around 3.0 so everybody to be happy.

ps man may sweeps will be disaster for all broadcast shows. Expext a lot of lows.

  • Kavyn

It looks like pretty much everything dropped last night compared to last Thursday.

  • s0303

don’t know what nbc should do with community, it is so unstable…probably a short season, i guess.

i really like batb, but it and carrie diaries probably should both be cancelled…
