TV Ratings Friday: 'Touch', 'Grimm' and 'Last Man Standing' Down + 'Nikita' & 'Blue Bloods' Rise

ABC and CBS tied for number one in adults 18-49 while CBS was on top with total viewers.

Please Note: On the first Friday of Daylight Saving Time, overall Adult 18-49 TV usage was down -5% on the night, with even sharper declines from 7-8pm (-8%) and from 9-10pm (-6%). Plus, while we haven't received any specific information, there were likely plenty of local pre-emptions for college basketball last night. Adjustments in the final ratings are likely to be more significant than usual.

On ABC, Last Man  Standing earned a 1.3, down two tenths from last week's 1.5 adults 18-49 rating. Malibu Country garnered a 1.0, down three tenths from last week's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. 20/20 earned a 1.4, down two tenths after last week's 1.6 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS,  Blue Bloods garnered a 1.7, up three tenths from last week's 1.4 among adults 18-49.

On NBC Fashion Star was even with last week's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating.  Grimm scored a 1.4, down a tenth from last week's  1.5 adults 18-49 rating.   Rock Center garnered a 0.7, down two tenths from last week's 0.9 among adults 18-49.

On Fox, Kitchen Nightmares earned a 1.1, down a tenth from last week's 1.2, and Touch earned a 0.6, down a tenth from last week's  0.7 rating.

On the CW, Nikita earned a 0.5  adults 18-49 rating up two tenths from last week’s 0.3. Cult scored a 0.3, up a tenth from last week's 0.2 among adults 18-49.

*	In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The
Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.5/6; CBS's "Late Show with David
Letterman," 2.5/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.9/5 with an

Wednesday results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.8/4; "Late
Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/3 with an encore.  

*	From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline"
averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/2 in 18-49 in
the Local People Meters.

*	From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/5
in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig
Ferguson" (1.3/4).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late
Night" (0.7/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/3).

*	The 0.7 for Jimmy Fallon is his highest Friday rating in the
Local People Meters in 10 weeks, since January 4 (0.7), and equals the
top "Late Night" Friday result since July 20, 2012 (0.9), the night of
the London Olympics Opening Ceremony.  Friday's guests included Justin
Timberlake and Hayden Panettiere and Timberlake was also the musical

*	At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/3 in
metered-market households with an encore and a 0.5/3 in adults 18-49
in the 25 markets with local people meters.

*	The 0.5 for Carson Daly is his highest Friday rating in the
Local People Meters in 13 months, since February 3, 2012 (0.5).

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    So, on Wednesday, The Neighbors gets a 1.4 after a 1.3 rerun of The Middle and a number of folks are saying it should be canceled in favor of MC.
    Now, MC draws a 1.0 after a 1.3 new episode of LMS and loses to a rerun of Undercover Boss.
    I still say Reba is heading back to Nashville.

    Ha Ha @ Flopkita! The show sux. It will adjust down. It’s numbers are horrible because no one likes the show and the actors are bad and the writers are bad and the action scenes are cable access level. Pls cancel this show asap.

    Touch, hang in there!—Goes for the fans too. 2.39 million viewers might not seem like a lot, but it is something right? Although, the numbers may not be on Touch’s side, that in no way makes the quality of the series any less, in my opinion(which I know is not worth that much). A truly great, intelligent, well-paced, written and acted series that I love. I just wish it would get the [recognition] it deserves.
    Fellow Touch fans, please don’t give up until the ABSOLUTE final word.

    @Ted Craig: Not to quibble, because I am indeed a fan of “The Neighbors” and would like to see it come back, but your analysis isn’t apples to apples. ABC is not promoting MC at all (a sign the end is near IMO), but The Neighbors IS getting promotion (tons of promos featuring change in critics’ opinions). Not to mention it airs on the network’s highest-rated night. Thus, the expectations for the two series aren’t the same. That said, Neighbors still gets the edge with a STD average of 1.9 vs. MC’s 1.3. (For the retentionistas out there, MC retains more of LMS’s lead-in at 87% than Neighbors does of The Middle’s at 79%.)

    I totally agree with you – Touch has improved greatly from season 1… it is no longer BORING. I like the very dark storyline and this last episode had me on the edge of my seat. However, these ratings definitely mean it’s a goner… a shame beacause it has really improved in every way.
