TV Ratings Friday: 'Touch', 'Grimm' and 'Last Man Standing' Down + 'Nikita' & 'Blue Bloods' Rise

ABC and CBS tied for number one in adults 18-49 while CBS was on top with total viewers.

Please Note: On the first Friday of Daylight Saving Time, overall Adult 18-49 TV usage was down -5% on the night, with even sharper declines from 7-8pm (-8%) and from 9-10pm (-6%). Plus, while we haven't received any specific information, there were likely plenty of local pre-emptions for college basketball last night. Adjustments in the final ratings are likely to be more significant than usual.

On ABC, Last Man  Standing earned a 1.3, down two tenths from last week's 1.5 adults 18-49 rating. Malibu Country garnered a 1.0, down three tenths from last week's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. 20/20 earned a 1.4, down two tenths after last week's 1.6 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS,  Blue Bloods garnered a 1.7, up three tenths from last week's 1.4 among adults 18-49.

On NBC Fashion Star was even with last week's 0.8 adults 18-49 rating.  Grimm scored a 1.4, down a tenth from last week's  1.5 adults 18-49 rating.   Rock Center garnered a 0.7, down two tenths from last week's 0.9 among adults 18-49.

On Fox, Kitchen Nightmares earned a 1.1, down a tenth from last week's 1.2, and Touch earned a 0.6, down a tenth from last week's  0.7 rating.

On the CW, Nikita earned a 0.5  adults 18-49 rating up two tenths from last week’s 0.3. Cult scored a 0.3, up a tenth from last week's 0.2 among adults 18-49.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Friday night: 

*	In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The
Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.5/6; CBS's "Late Show with David
Letterman," 2.5/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.9/5 with an
encore. 

*	In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49
Wednesday results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.8/4; "Late
Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/3 with an encore.  

*	From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline"
averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/2 in 18-49 in
the Local People Meters.

*	From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/5
in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig
Ferguson" (1.3/4).  In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late
Night" (0.7/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/3).

*	The 0.7 for Jimmy Fallon is his highest Friday rating in the
Local People Meters in 10 weeks, since January 4 (0.7), and equals the
top "Late Night" Friday result since July 20, 2012 (0.9), the night of
the London Olympics Opening Ceremony.  Friday's guests included Justin
Timberlake and Hayden Panettiere and Timberlake was also the musical
guest.

*	At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/3 in
metered-market households with an encore and a 0.5/3 in adults 18-49
in the 25 markets with local people meters.

*	The 0.5 for Carson Daly is his highest Friday rating in the
Local People Meters in 13 months, since February 3, 2012 (0.5).

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    The CW was preempted last night in my area. Stupid college basketball.
    NIKITA (8pm), B&TB (5pm), Cult (9pm), and TVD (4pm) are airing today Saturday.

    Malibu Country needs to get renew. Great comedy show. Should had air after Modern Family or before it.

    Bern: It might very well adjust down. IF your area was enough to affect the national ratings, that is. That’s something people forget.

    The question is will it adjust down to a .3 or a .4 if it does adjust down? A .3 would be consistent with recent ratings after the February hiatus. A .4 would indicate it’s gaining strength again going into the finale, as it did last fall. There’s also the question of DST impact which may grow over the next month as the weather gets better.

I don’t hate on ANY shows – just their supporters when they get stupid about hating other shows because their own shows aren’t doing well or when they are delusional about their shows and then they get mean because of that and spew lies about their shows and other shows. I call ‘em like I see ‘em.

    I don’t hate TCD, for example. I don’t watch it, I don’t care about it. But when someone comes on here and says it’s a lock for renewal because it’s “good on Mondays” when the show is doing a season average of .5 halfway through its first season…well, I can only tolerate so much stupidity. :-)

    Sure it does. Even though some of the games are available nationally on the ESPN networks, the syndicationed networks (Raycom for the ACC and the SEC Network for the SEC) have the rights to the games in their primary markets.

    This usually doesn’t matter most of the time, because they typically air games (football/basketball) during daytime hours on the weekend. However, during basketball conference tournament week, they also carry games during primetime on Thursday and Friday.

    And yes, people would rather watch college basketball than regular network programming. It’s the #2 sport (behind the NFL) in terms of postseason advertising revenue.

    No, stupid. Because I know that viewer totals are meaningless for renewal. I note that Nikita viewers are increasing this season because that might – or might not – mean an improvement in the demo at some point. After all, if there are no viewers, there is no demo to measure. :-)

    Look I never said Nikita adjusts down In the Demo Everyweek. I know it dont. All i said is adjusts down in viewers from Preliminary to Finals. I did say it might adjust down in the demo not 100% will. Ok i will admit its a silly to mock total viewers as its irrelavant.

    GO BLUE BLOODS! Looks like 5-0 is moving to Fridays.

    I think maybe Cult can catch on if The CW stays patient with it. It’s a real different type of show than from anything they’ve ever aired in the past and the show itself is innovative and new not sure if viewers are ready for a show like this just yet but its a really good option behind Nikita. I think The CW should just keep it and see if it grows at all next year and if it doesn’t cancel it.

    LMS and MC have gotten a lot better as shows especially MC which was a bit terrible earlier in the season I really like the identity its created the last few episodes. I wish ABC keeps them together or at least in the same block next season.

    I don’t get how/why everyone in here hates nikita so much! I will admit it, it has 2 or 3 boring episodes per season, but which series doesn’t? But overall it is great, intense, suspenseful.

    Nbc: please switch fashion star with hannibal or cancel fs. Hannibal is a much better leadin to grimm than FS. Can nbc realize that FS ratings are terrible and that it needs to move to sunday nights. Its not that hard.
