via press note:

With the Season 16 premiere of DWTS and Castle, ABC won Monday over original lineups on the other nets, beating runner-up CBS by 6.9 million viewers and by 17% in Adults 18-49. The Net won the night for the 4th time in 5 weeks.

ABC’s Dancing opener grew over its Season 15 premiere by 19% in Total Viewers and by 24% in Adults 18-49. The DWTS premiere stands as TV’s 2nd-most-watched unscripted telecast this season, topping every installment of Idol since the Wednesday premiere in January. DWTS delivered ABC’s biggest audience and 2nd highest Adult 18-49 rating in the 2-hour time period in almost 1-year – since 4/23/12.

Beating its CBS (Hawaii Five-0) and NBC (Deception) drama competition, ABC’s Castle won the 10 o’clock hour in viewers and young adults for its 3rd straight original telecast. Castle stood as Monday’s most-watched scripted program with its biggest audience this season.

Castle’s last original was a two-parter for sweeps week so there was going to be a drop-off, the question was how much. The answer turned out to be that they didn’t drop off all that much at all. Demolished 5-O in overall viewership, but even beat them in the demo, which normally they struggle with. I don’t think there’s any doubt now that they’ve clinched renewal.

Putting Castle and Beckett together when they did was a smart move. The show was getting stale last season, but with them as an item it seems to have a new lease on life. The show seems fun again and I think it’s winning its viewers back.

Here’s hoping “Castle” continues it’s good showing against “Revolution” next week. :-)

Next week will finally let us know if NBC was crazy like a fox or just plan clinically crazy for pulling “Revolution” for most of the season. I don’t like the show but from a business, money is the bottom line, point of view even I wouldn’t have done that.

IF “Revolution” is such a good show, it doesn’t matter what other show it is against, or what show it is after, or that it was gone for months. Fans will flock back to it… if it is a good show.

I plan to watch DWTS this season.

Castle is always well written, the whole cast is uniformly good and the two leads Katic & Fillion are always right on!! The writers know how to tease and entice their audience to keep coming back. As long as Kate & Castle have the wonderful chemistry that has been evident since season 1 the show could go on for years!
