UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – March 19, 2013 – NBC has announced season-ending dates for a handful of its series, including hit dramas “Revolution” and “Chicago Fire,” as well as critically acclaimed comedy “Parks and Recreation.”

The season’s #1 drama on broadcast television in the 18-49 demo, “Revolution” will end on Monday, May 27 (10-11 p.m. ET). “Chicago Fire” will close out its first season on Wednesday, May 15 (10-11 p.m. ET).

“Parks and Recreation” concludes Thursday, May 2 (9:30-10 p.m. ET), with “Community” wrapping up a week later, Thursday, May 9 (8-8:30 p.m. ET).

Two current NBC series will wrap their seasons in April — two back-to-back episodes of “The New Normal” on Tuesday, April 2 (9-10 p.m. ET) and “Go On” on Thursday, April 11 (9:30 p.m. ET) — and two in March. “Whitney” will air back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, March 27 (8-9 p.m. ET) and “1600 Penn” will air its final episodes of the season on Thursday, March 28 (8:30-9 p.m. ET and 9:30-10 p.m. ET).

Other scripted series that have locked season end dates are “Grimm” on Friday, May 17 (9-10 p.m.), “Hannibal” on Thursday, June 27 (10-11 p.m. ET) and “Law & Order: SVU,” which will conclude the season with a two-hour episode on Wednesday, May 22 (9-11 p.m. ET).

    What will NBC air Mondays at 10 after the finale of Revolution? Repeats of Chicago Fire?

  • Rebecca

    @SJ
    Yes, the May 9th airing of The Office will be two episodes.

  • Samunto

    Poor Hannibal is really being left to fend for itself! Continuing well into summer after repeats. But let’s see how far it goes. NBC could make scheduling changes if it shows promise.

  • Nicholas Brody

    Who knew that the season finale of REVOLUTION is going to air on Memorial Day? Something I’m looking forward to if the series gets renewed for a second season.

  • Lesley

    Great idea to give SVU two hour Finale.That will give it a feature film feel to lead into a season 15 Opening.
    Looks like Criminal Minds had same idea too ,with their two hour finale on the same night.

  • Amy

    @ Melanie May is a Sweeps month. Sweeps is November, February and May.

  • Danak

    Revolution has 10 episodes left, thus ending on May 27. Not really a surprise there folks.

  • Danak

    Am I correct in assuming Smash isn’t mentioned here because it was mentioned in the previous press release on its move to Saturday?

  • Oliver

    I imagine NBC will put an Office retrospective at 8 on May 16 leading into The Office series finale.

    But this leaves a bunch of weird holes in their schedule.

    What will they air at 9:30 Thursday on April 18, April 25 and May 9? Office repeats? What about 8:30 Thursday on May 9 after the Community season (and potentially series) finale? Surely not a repeat wedged between two potentially high-rated episodes?

    NBC upfronts is May 13, so Community’s fate will almost certainly be known before the finale airs.

    So @Ricky and Rebecca the show has kind of decided that a world without electricity isn’t really much fun? lol I’m teasing but I do think that if the show is renewed we’ll see a change in direction for the show in an attempt to boost the ratings. I’ll be interested to see how Revolution finishes up the season. I think it might get renewed but I’m kind of expecting a 1 1/2 or 2 season show only. I don’t see it going long term.

  • Amy

    @ cimmer The biggest issue I have with Revolution is the actress who plays Charlie. She needs acting classes ASAP!

  • TV Addict

    Hmm, so May 9th is the SEASON finale of Community.
    I can’t wait to find out what SEASON finale date it will get next year, or the SERIES finale date the year after that.
    And I am very excited to find out its MOVIE PREMIERE DATE FOLLOWING ITS SIX MOTHER FRICKING SEASONS!!!

    I really like Revolution but NBC has a bad habit of letting the really good shows have too long of a break then whoops, their ratings slip and their gone… hope not, but I’m not going to hold by breath.

  • Ultima

    @Amy
    May is a Sweeps month.

    Yes, but May sweeps runs from 25 April through 22 May; so Revolution is indeed finishing outside of May sweeps (on Memorial Day actually).

  • Brian

    Community and Parks & Rec.. such Bombs! cancel them already!

    “I really like Revolution but NBC has a bad habit of letting the really good shows have too long of a break then whoops, their ratings slip and their gone”

    Give me an example and The Event does not count because it was dead before its hiatus.

  • Oliver

    @rob60990
    Law & Order: LA. You’re welcome.

  • SJ

    @Oliver

    Law & Order: LA was also pretty much dead by the time they pulled and retooled it.

  • Oliver

    @SJ

    Not true.

    NBC should just announce their finale date as a network… Better yet- they should just GO AWAY.. Nobody would miss them
