Wow days of our lives took a hard hit.. The biggest decline of all soaps. I watched this show from 93 to 04 and then mainly bc of my minor years i had more free Time.
    7
I tried the show out this past Monday and it was good
    .

Good Enough for me to watch the soap channel this Sunday night at 7 to catch up and begin dvrng next week. A lot of Characters i like still on but wtf happened to chloe why so troubled and fighting for a man against jenn who is way way way older but looks damn good considering!!!

  • iggy

    Another victim of DST!!

  • Derrick

    Wow!
    Wow!
    Wow!

A big hit for all soaps especially DAYS!!!!!!!!
    Hope it rebounds next week!

  • jonboyelk

Hard to believe any of these ratings

  • Harlee

OH MY GOD! Did the markets that was pre-empted have a bigger effect? I mean all soaps suffered in big way. Only half of markets televising, I know a friend that lives in the next market and w\NCAA basketball tourney CBS pre-empted for 2.5 days of special local programming and the Pope…just WOW!

  • moshane58

jonboyelk with you on hard to believe these ratings. We don’t watch it live we at least DVR them.Need a new way to figure ratings. This is bull.Days fan wouldn’t drop off that much.Gh has been really good leading up to the 50th anniversary.I believe Y&R is leading up to it’s anniversary to right?Way off Nielsen

  • TV Gord

It’s the ratings. It’s Daylight Savings Time.

    Any other excuses?

  • CookyMonzta

The genre will be extinct before 2020. Reality television killed the soaps.

  • kingfish

Did you even consider that 1-2 fifths of Y and R watchers will not be there because of stupid basket ball play offs, the same for other networks, get rid of the BB, who watches it?

  • bob

I don’t know if the soaps will be gone by 2020 but I do know that they will all be on-line by that time for sure. I would imagine that their might even be more soap operas on line if they garner interest. Remember that soaps used to be on radio. I am sure people were disappointed when they went from radio to tv (especially those folks that did not have a TV).

  • jonboyelk

@bob you’re probably right. Tv as we know it will probably be a dinosaur. Maybe I’m just being stubborn but I don’t care to watch via internet. I won’t even watch netflix streaming unless I hook it up to the tv. Gonna give OLTL a try, though, just out of curiosity.

  • Nick

The myth of a GH resurgence takes another hit to the midsection. With all the comebacks and this close to the 50th, those ratings are terrible. At this point they aren’t much ahead of where they were when the idiots took over.

As a Robert Scorpio fan, I will never watch that crap again. For what, to see a middle aged woman put him in a coma?

  • Joseph

    TV Gord:

The election of Pope Francis I also played a big role as many viewers may have watching cable news channels waiting for the “white smoke”.

But Daylight Time was also a definite factor.

So too in some areas, especially at the end of the week of March 11th-15th, might have been conference tournaments in college basketball.

  • James

Terrible ratings. General Hospital did RISE in both W18-34 Rating and W18-34 Viewers though.

  • Gary

    Frickin’ pope.

  • PatF

Should see a good rebound next week…

  • maria

is this during the week where GH writers bored us with connie/kate storyline. If so im not surprise with the ratings. End that please GH it is old tired storyline and give me back my sonny of the 90′s

  • Blake Williams

The Young & Restless and THe Bold and The Beautiful were preempted Thursday and Friday in the Greensboro, NC market due to the ACC Basketball Tournament

  • Patter

There was a lot of pre-emptions last week in daytime not just the soaps so I guess this week is one of those where you can look past it and see if the soaps rebound next week, really nothing alarming here.

  • PatF

One full day was preempted in Dallas because of the Pope. I had to watch online, so I’m sure a lot of people missed Y and R that day.
