You can see TV ratings from other recent Overnight ratings reports here.

Definitions: Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

I’m so happy Supernatural didn’t dip despite DST. Last night’s episode was fantastic. They really amped up the action and drama to the 11th level. I even heard the episode title “Goodbye Stranger” was trending in the US and Worldwide for a while. Tumblr and the rest of the blogsphere was abuzz after it aired. That’s great publicity for a show in its eighth season but my belief has always been this show survives through its communication and close relation with its fans. Robbie Thompson for example – the writer who wrote the episode – stayed up until 1am last night to answer fan questions on his twitter account. That’s dedication.

  • Mary

Sorry if I’m slow but what’s DST everyone keeps referring to?

  • HotLatino4GayMarriage

I’m sick of HE fans (HE is certain to be cancelled, get over it, that flop sucks!!) oh and@BBF Girls is renewed and HE isn’t, how does that feel? Hahaha

  • Mae

    I think SPN’s half hours are pretty interesting: 0.9 2.26/ 0.9 2.03

There was a pretty big drop in those half hours.

While I thought the episode was well-paced, I am not sold on Cas’ return. I am sick of the angel storyline. I just don’t really care about Naomi’s master plan for heaven. And I know I am not the only fan that feels that way.

I really hope Cas gets his own storyline next season that is completely removed from heaven / other angels.

I also think Cas’ importance is overrated. While I like him, I just don’t think he has the effect on ratings his super fans think he does. I think last nights episode kinda proved that.

Daylight Savings Time, it stays brighter later on in the day so people may be less likely to sit down and watch TV.

  • HotLatino4GayMarriage

    DST= Daylight Savings Time

  • LisaM

    DST=Daylight Savings Time?

  • Dawg

How many more weeks before Idol ratings will be in the 2’s? 0_0

  • Mary

Oh of course, that makes sense. THanks Ben!

CBS will pay for its mistake that they stay rules on monday and not put TBBT rerun for 2BG lead in. Just watch.

although les moonves said month ago that cbs is too good for changes i won’t be shocked if TBBT is moved back at 8 show on Monday.

Now this is strong line up and 2BG will be back in the game with TBBT lead in.

Now what they will do with thursday 8pm. TAHM won’t hold without TBBT. They can moved POI at 8 with new drama at 9. Or they can try these single cams wait two weeks till they bomp and than make POI at 8 and new drama at 9.

Does anyone think there is something more behind Meg asking Sam why he stopped when he hit the dog? It’s seemed so random, but I can’t tell if Meg was just being Meg or if there was more to it (like maybe the dog was a shifter or familiar that led him to the girl). Either way, Sam shouldn’t have mentioned her, they are just going to use her as bait if they find her; I don’t trust Meg completely.

Suburgatory retains just as much of MF’s ratings. It’s just that those ratings are lower.

Also, at this point last year, the gap between HE and MF was widening, something that isn’t happening with Suburgatory.

  • Mae

    @ Tessa

I think SPN writers being on social media is the worst thing ever. I really believe that the writers of TV shows need to be removed from fandom in order to properly write a show. Too much fan influence and feedback is not a good thing.

    There needs to be separation.

“How many more weeks before Idol ratings will be in the 2?s? 0_0″

We might see a 2.x TOMORROW, with Thursday’s ratings. :-P

  • Dan S

With ABC in mostly reruns last night I’m a bit surprised NBC didn’t do better. I’m sure both SVU & CF will be back but Whitney has to go. I like the idea of moving SVU to Thur & then get 1 of NBC’s more promising pilots like 6th Gun at 9 on Wed to give a bigger boost to CF. While CSI has perked up in the ratings I still think its getting moved to Fri but hey I can be wrong.

As far as Cas goes, one interesting aspect of his relationships was Meg and she is gone. I thought it funny that Crowley spoke of past times with Naomi when I thought he lived in old Scotland, not the ancient world. No word of Kevin and his trials. Speaking of trials, what is next for Sam with god’s trials? I love this show, even with plotholes big enough to fly a 747 through.

  • Pati

@Richard Steven Hack: Naomi was messing with Castiel’s “programming,” much the same way that Crowley was messing with Samandriel’s. As Sam said in the car at the end of the episode, touching the tablet “reset Castiel’s factory settings.” If you recall when he touched it there was a large engery surge, which I believe overrode everything that Naomi did. Afterall, God’s tablet would hold more power than Naomi.

  • Dawg

bob, you’re not thinking straight if you really think that The Voice will go as low as 1.3 or 1.4. I know you like Idol and all but damn boy..

  • Maria

Criminal Minds did a very good job! Its 0.4 jump vs last ep looks really good after a 3 weeks hiatus :-)

@Ram510 Procedural dont have much of a story week to week like say Once Upon a Time were if you miss a few episode you can feel lost. Procedurals are almost the scripted equivelant of reality TV, people really don’t have to think when they watch those shows

You’re more wrong than you think: most procedurals follow a more real-like pace as development for their characters, and long arcs too, where on top, you get bits and pieces scattered though many episodes until the final showdown. It’s true that for this, you can play catch up, but not miss too many episodes without getting lost.

About the no thinking part: human mind is attracted by routine and order. Procedurals offer plots that represent great disruptions to both, thus the mind feels compelled while watching to solve the puzzle, and that’s one of the main reasons why their viewers get sucked into the plots; they are enjoying what they’re watching at the same time that their minds are trying to figure the mysteries presented. There’s a lot of thinking, more so than while watching other types of dramas or comedies, as enjoyable as those may be.
