    These poor broadcast TV shows… Duck Dynasty pulled a 3.4 at 10pm and a 3.6 at 10:30pm last night, which tied Idol – with a 3.6 from 8-10pm.

    @Ben Thompson

    No it wouldn’t. Supernatural not being on Friday has more to do with it than Arrow.

    @Sandy
    When Chicago Fire was paired with The Voice it did OUTSTANDING, when it’s with “the new SVU” it does fair… Chicago Fire is being dragged down by the crappy version of SVU, move it to 10PM Fridays next year NBC and let it go.

    Of course CF did well, it’s The Voice. About SVU being CF’s lead-in, it’s not that NBC has a drama that will do better than SVU to put in there. Maybe Revolution but I doubt NBC is thinking of moving it out of post-The Voice.

    i love this show i watch it everyday from 9-12 on tnt

    @Susan

    You’re probably right. SVU used to be quality from minute one to the Dick Wolf insignia at the end. Even in it’s prime it had quality SVU story line with character back-story with Benson/Stabler. Now it seems to be anything but. I never egged on the two main detectives relationship like many, but I’d take that relationship furthered over what they’re doing now. I never watched L&O CI but I can understand where you’re coming from.

    I argee with you 100%, SVU is to the dogs and teenage shippers now. It’s all about “Liv/Amaro/Cassidy/Haden/Ellis/Barba”, they are “pimping Olivia out”, I liked it better when Liv took cases personally than seeing all in her personal life, they should do like the show used to, we see/hear Liv coming off a random date and let it lie, instead of pairing her with every male recurring guest star.

    SVU is straight horrible now and the ratings prove it, there is no excuse, SVU should be rating like Chicago Fire.

    @Bill Gorman

    SVU might get renewed, but it’s only because NBC only cares about proping Dick Wolf. Ratings and SVU’s age and expensiveness, it should have been gone two years ago, it surely should be gone NOW.

    These poor broadcast TV shows…

    Those poor cable TV shows…

    Aside from Duck Dynasty, the best half hour of which could only match American Idol’s two hour average, the next best primetime original only had a 0.7 rating.

    So both GOON and Whitney hit 1.0 thisweek. Who thinks NBC hits the low rating trifecta tonight?

  • Amber

    Yay Survivor and Arrow!

  • Nicholas R.

    @Ultima

    I was simply just pointing out the fact that broadcast shows are being beaten by a program on cable. There aren’t many cable programs out there that can pull off that feat.

    In other words, NBC is losing money on Law & Order SVU and is just using it to prop up their schedule (a la Friends).

    Riiight.

    Which is what I was pointing out. :)

    @ Ultima

    In other words, I meant that’s great for Duck Dynasty! hahaha

    Who thinks NBC hits the low rating trifecta tonight?

    With The Big Bang Theory off of the schedule (not even a repeat), Community should be up tonight.

  • Ben Thompson

    Supernatural was pulling similiar numbers being paired with Vampire Diaries on Thursdays and while being paired with Smallville on Fridays. Than it gets Nikita as a lead-in and it falls. Arrow is the big reason Supernatural is up.

    I think SVU has likely run its course, creatively speaking. The reality is, that Meloni leaving didn’t kill the show, it was already well on it’s way to death anyway. Heck, the ratings have been in steep decline since 2006, dropping on average 500K- 1 million or so viewers a year since then. Maybe with Meloni it makes it a season longer than it will now, but i think the biggest mistake was moving the show to Wednesday from Tuesday in 2009 as part of the Leno debacle, that really started the free fall we see today.

    @Alex

    “I just realize Supernatural had a 0.6 demo at this time last year. What the hell did Arrow help the show that much? Or did they pick up new fans?”

    That 0.6 was the night Hunger Games was released. It was a one off. SPN s7 averaged 0.75 in the demo across the seasons and 1.73m viewers. So you are right that ratings are up this season, where it has averaged 0.9 to 1.0. This is probably mainly to do with a great lead in from Arrow and the move from Fridays – where a lot fewer people watch TV at all – to Wednesdays. Who knows whether the increase in live viewers are new, or just folks who DVRd or downloaded when it was on Fridays. Either way the show is doing great in the ratings and fully deserves its early renewal. Amazing for a show 8 years old.

    Great to see both Arrow and SPN up to a 1.0. TNT just got done showing season 7 of SPN today and they are starting the show over tomorrow. I became a fan a few months back because the reruns on TNT every morning.

  • NycJoe

    NBC goes from a .8 rating at 830 pm and then SVU more than doubles that at 1.6. I would say NBC is very happy with that.

  • Paleonut

    Wow! Love seeing both Supernatural & Arrow adjusting upward!

    I think Supernatural’s numbers are up this season in large part because of the move off of Friday, but also because it pairs so well with Arrow. Not that I think it’s getting a huge number of new viewers but that the two shows play off of each other nicely, and people are tuning in to watch them live since they can make an evening of it!

  • forg

    MF rerun adjusted to 1.8. I hope they won’t earn a season low when they return next week. Ditto The Middle.
