Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for CBS (NCAA Basketball tournament) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

ABC was number one in adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On ABC, the season finale of  Last Man  Standing earned a 1.6 up 14 percent from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating. Your predictions were about right. The season finale of Malibu Country garnered a1.4 up 27 percent from last week's 1.1 adults 18-49 rating. 20/20 earned a 1.6 up 14 percent from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS,  night two of the NCAA Basketball Tournament averaged a 1.0 preliminary adults 18-49 rating compared to a 2.2 night two of last year’s tournament on Friday, March 23, 2012, but this will certainly change in the finals. It should also be noted that with the tournament also airing on three cable channels, the overall ratings for the tournament may be on par with last year.

On NBC Fashion Star scored a 0.7, even with last week’s adults 18-49 rating.  Grimm scored a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating, matching last week’s performance. Rock Center garnered a 0.9 up 50 percent from last week's 0.6 among adults 18-49.

On Fox, Touch earned a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating up 17 percent from last week's  0.6 rating.

On the CW, Cult scored a 0.2 adults 18-49 rating, even with last week.

Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2013 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

with fringe and chuck gone. which nightly ratings are the new fridays “most commented on” thread?

  • Lily

Too bad that Cult didn’t adjust down in half-hours.
    I wanna see 0.1.

  • Brian

Glad to see Grimm still has its great ratings as it always has. This will adjust up :)

That’s what the original Grimm fairy tales were all; gruesome and terrifying, before they were sanitized overtime into bedtime stories and the Disney movies we know today.

  • Ben

God I hate the frelling basketball on CBS every March! Wake me when it’s over. :(

  • Dan

The only thing that’s fairly certain is that Modern Family, The Middle, Suburgatory, and Last Man Standing will return, The Neighbors & Malibu Country could go either way while Happy Endings is probably dead unless TBS can save it.

  • frank

for all the money CBS pays to the NCAA, the games don’t bring in the youthful eyeballs. Or does CBS claim a majority of their game viewers are at Hooters?

  • rob60990

Big gain for 20/20 in th half hour. Not surprised at the rise though since the story has been heavily talked about.

  • John A

Why do CBS bother with Basketball? Its performed terribly the last 2 days.

  • Melissa

Are you talking about just comedies? If not, it’s also fairly certain that Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Once Upon a Time, Castle, Nashville, and Revenge will return as well.

  • Matt Thompson

Malibu Country was at its best last night. Stacy Keach was a fabulous guest and the show was so funny. The show is really getting its footing and I hope it is renewed for a second season.

  • Melissa

    @John A

Why do CBS bother with Basketball? Its performed terribly the last 2 days.

Because the games later on rate very high.

  • Ricky

@Brian: Exactly! Which is why Grimm is one of my favorite shows. Never was too much of a Disney fan. Dark fantasy beats Disney every day.

  • Gene

I just wish NBC would stop shooting themselves in the foot by putting totally incompatible shows together. I think Dateline should come back to Fridays permanently. Maybe replace Fashion Star with Dateline? Or move Grimm to 8:00 followed by Dateline and Rock Center?

Oh that’s easy it seems Malibu country and last man standing both will get second season renewals. They were a good Friday combo. Happy endings won’t even get half these ratings that both these shows got.

  • Ram510

    @ John A

That’s was my thought as well. They were going to have a repeat next week not last night. At the rate they are going with breaks every 2-3 weeks Nikita will still be on in June

  • Greg

ABC will renew LMS and Malibu Country and probably leave them where they are, simply because they have bigger problems to handle right now.

The TGIF experiment did not work well enough to warrant another comedy hour with fresh shows, but they might pair Suburgatory and The Neighbors (or Happy Endings, if it miraculously rebounds when it returns) and dump them at 9pm just because they are doing solidly enough to guarantee another season, but not enough to stay where they are now. After each of them reach syndication, cancel all and air reality shows.

  • MJ

AWESOME job MC!!!! 1.4 with 7 MILLION viewers on a FRIDAY night!!!! Cant wait for the 2nd season!!!!!

  • Marc

Watched LMS for the first time last night, and found it very funny. Will have to see if they are On Demand.

MC has been really good the last half of the season after getting through the awkward “find your footing” episodes. I think both will be renewed given they get almost no promotion and do relatively well on a Friday night. ABC is promoting the crap out of HE and they will be lucky to break 1’s, much less average the 1.4-1.6 that MC and LMS do.

  • Matt

I think ABC would be very smart to expand the Friday night block. They could move Shark Tank to Thursday’s at 8, and place a new drama or possibly Once Upon A Time at 10PM for 13 episodes, then place 20/20 the other half of the season. The could move The Neighbors and How TO Live on Fridays, unless How to Live stays at Wednesdays and Suburgatory would move, or perhaps, a new comedy.

    8PM – Last Man Standing
    8:30PM – Malibu Country
    9PM – The Neighbors
    9:30PM – Suburgatory / New Comedy
    10PM – ONCE / NEW DRAMA / 20/20
