Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for CBS (NCAA Basketball tournament) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

ABC was number one in adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On ABC, the season finale of  Last Man  Standing earned a 1.6 up 14 percent from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating. Your predictions were about right. The season finale of Malibu Country garnered a1.4 up 27 percent from last week's 1.1 adults 18-49 rating. 20/20 earned a 1.6 up 14 percent from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS,  night two of the NCAA Basketball Tournament averaged a 1.0 preliminary adults 18-49 rating compared to a 2.2 night two of last year’s tournament on Friday, March 23, 2012, but this will certainly change in the finals. It should also be noted that with the tournament also airing on three cable channels, the overall ratings for the tournament may be on par with last year.

On NBC Fashion Star scored a 0.7, even with last week’s adults 18-49 rating.  Grimm scored a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating, matching last week’s performance. Rock Center garnered a 0.9 up 50 percent from last week's 0.6 among adults 18-49.

On Fox, Touch earned a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating up 17 percent from last week's  0.6 rating.

On the CW, Cult scored a 0.2 adults 18-49 rating, even with last week.

Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2013 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  • Dan

@Marc – I’d actually rather see Girl Meets World on ABC too, something’s telling me it will be too childish and silly on Disney Channel and not how BMW was but how current DC shows are.

  • Herb

If you didn’t enjoy ” Touch ” last night, are you nuts ? Bello and the cast was award winning. They will renew Swamp People etc. and let this great show go? WOW!! WOW!!!

  • Emily

    @Dan

Why is HTLWYP being cancelled not an option? The show hasn’t even aired yet. What if it gets poor reviews and ratings?

  • Joseph

The Cancellation Bear has left his lair and his next target is “Cult”!

  • Dan

@David – If ABC keeps comedy on Tuesday which I believe they will do, my guess is that it will be Suburgatory and Neighbors at 8 DWTS at 9 and a drama at 10.

  • Doug

So LMS finishes the season better than it did on Tuesday (at least in viewers – I think the demo is lower). Malibu definitely won’t make it to next season, even though it went out decently.

Here’s to hoping that Happy Endings does decently next week, and ABC goes for a 2 hour comedy block next fall! If they’re not going to do it on Tuesday…

  • JohnnyRico

A show spikes to 1.4 and people are predicting MC will be renewed?
    Maybe on NBC
MC is dead unless the network has some secret plans for a 2 hour TGIF next fall.

Also for those with the shovels out for HE let’s see what it does first. If it get’s comprable numbers to LMS it would probably be renewed over that since no one in the HE makes anywhere close to what Tim Allen does per episode. If it get’s MC numbers or worse I guess fan’s can start petitioning to TBS.

  • Dan

@Emily – HTLWYP being cancelled is certainly an option but for some reason with their other freshman series getting subpar ratings and not having the Modern Family lead in benefit, HTLWYP has a good chance. Plus if renewed it will have 5 leftovers for next season and with 13 eps it could make for a full 18 ep season.

Again it’s just speculation, ABC is very hard to figure out this year in terms of bubble comedies.

Comedy wise the only thing I can say is that The Middle, LMS Modern Family, and Suburgatory will all return

  • Justin121

    ABC comedies:

Wednesday: The Middle, Suburgatory, Modern Family, new comedy

Friday: Neighbors, new comedy, Last Man, Malibu

But I know they’ll do something stupid like Subg nd Neighbors ato Tuesday…

  • Ram510

    @ Marc

I’m with you, if NBC doesn’t renew Guys With Kids then ABC should.

    @ Oliver

Nikita actual does decent in repeats for a CW Friday repeat

  • david

Great to see both ABC sitcoms up last nnight. I a m prety sure Last Man Standing will get a third season and Malibu Country might get another season too.

  • As I speak

    Floptouch
    Ahahhahhah
    Always flops.

  • psychic

Until the people who created “Fringe” pump out another sci-fi on its level that, despite high quality, gets exiled to Fridays for low ratings, Fridays matter very, very little to me. I’ve got no low-rated show to campaign for now.

  • Phil

Yay Touch increased its ratings over last week!

  • martin

Grimm is such a very good show!

  • Marc

@JohnnyRico – “A show spikes to 1.4 and people are predicting MC will be renewed? Maybe on NBC MC is dead unless the network has some secret plans for a 2 hour TGIF next fall.”

I believe the MC season average is between 1.3-1.4. The last 5 Fridays were 1.4, 1.1, 1.3, 1.4, 1.3. So, it’s not exactly a huge departure from the normal.

“Also for those with the shovels out for HE let’s see what it does first. If it get’s comprable numbers to LMS it would probably be renewed over that since no one in the HE makes anywhere close to what Tim Allen does per episode. If it get’s MC numbers or worse I guess fan’s can start petitioning to TBS.”

HE is averaging a 1.26 this season with promotion and on more watched nights. It has half the viewers of LMS and MC. HE has been as low as .9 this year, which has never happened to either LMS or MC.

It’s actually pretty sad, ABC is literally BEGGING people to tune in to watch Happy Endings under threat of cancellation. They don’t even promote their current Fri lineup and it already does better than HE… unless of course by some miracle HE manages to improve it’s ratings after being moved to Friday (Yeah, right)

  • Ash

Friday nights are like a graveyard. Half these shows are dead and hanging by life support. Sad really :(

  • class of fitness

yeah, Girl meets world would do good on friday nights?

  • David

@Dan Suburgatory is like Happy Endings, a nice show, but no Q rating. It would collapse Tuesday at 8 as would The Neighbors. The only comedies ABC has that are self-starters are Modern Family, The Middle and LMS. If they want comedy on Tuesday to succeed, they either need a freshman show with Q rating or to move LMS. The only slot ABC could try Suburgatory/The Neighbors would be Wednesday at 8, where they already have an established comedy block. That would enable the Middle to go Tuesday.

  • Jonny C…. formerly Jon

    Marc:

The show was moved three times…with the second time being moved on a night no one knew about ( Sunday night) even worse, double packing the hour without telling anyone ( which is why it got the 0.9). And other than the sunday 1.0 and 0.9…..it’s been averaging 1.3-1.4 all season. Comedy on a drama night at 10pm…smart move ABC ( not). ABC was setting the show for failure the minute they moved it to tuesday nights. Chances our HE will come back with the ratings from their last episode (1.3-1.4) ABC might take notice.
