Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for CBS (NCAA Basketball tournament) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

ABC was number one in adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On ABC, the season finale of  Last Man  Standing earned a 1.6 up 14 percent from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating. Your predictions were about right. The season finale of Malibu Country garnered a1.4 up 27 percent from last week's 1.1 adults 18-49 rating. 20/20 earned a 1.6 up 14 percent from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS,  night two of the NCAA Basketball Tournament averaged a 1.0 preliminary adults 18-49 rating compared to a 2.2 night two of last year’s tournament on Friday, March 23, 2012, but this will certainly change in the finals. It should also be noted that with the tournament also airing on three cable channels, the overall ratings for the tournament may be on par with last year.

On NBC Fashion Star scored a 0.7, even with last week’s adults 18-49 rating.  Grimm scored a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating, matching last week’s performance. Rock Center garnered a 0.9 up 50 percent from last week's 0.6 among adults 18-49.

On Fox, Touch earned a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating up 17 percent from last week's  0.6 rating.

On the CW, Cult scored a 0.2 adults 18-49 rating, even with last week.

Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2013 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  • Bern

Yay Malibu Country. Deserves a season two.

  • Frank

    @ Will

Malibu Country actually averaged a 1.39 over the course of the season, so I think you can safely say that it averaged a 1.4 instead of a 1.3.

  • Kangarookeeper

Fashion Star is basically a commercial to sell clothing. I don’t think NBC cares about its rating. Nearly 3 million people watching a commercial is amazing. I am sure NBC makes a lot of money and in my opinion it’s a pretty entertaining commercial.

  • Ted Craig

Pro LMS and MC: They do well on Friday, when there are fewer viewers.

Con LMS and MC: They do well on Friday, when there is no competition.

For a fourth place network, ABC seems to have a lot fewer holes than it should.

  • good move

I think this is the first time in a while maybe close to a decade that a broadcast network has successfully programmed multi-cams outside of CBS.

LMS and MC have surpassed expectations on the night this season, they’ve done so well on Fridays that they’ve actually made the Wednesday comedies Suburgatory and Neighbors look bad in comparison.

  • Ted Craig

FYI, Girl Meets World is going to air on ABC Family, not TDC.

  • Ted Craig

Shows airing between 8 and 10 on Wednesdays: American Idol, Survivor, Criminal Minds, Arrow, Supernatural.

Shows airing between 8 and 9 on Fridays: Undercover Boss, Fashion Star, Kitchen Nightmares.

  • CBSviewer

Malibu Country vs. The Neighbors. Which one will win ?

  • Ram510

    @ Richard

I know that Nikita’s finale is May 17th, but the way CW keeps putting the random breaks every 2-3 episode I don’t know if I can believe that they are actually going to run these last 8 episodes uninterrupted. They may just say screw it and let it run until June. It the CW I don’t trust their judgement

  • Michael1

When CBS carried all the games, and most people lived in the “region” of their regional games, then we would watch CBS religiously. But for those of us who don’t live in Brookings, South Dakota, we may prefer to tune in to TBS/TNT/TruTV, for a game of more regional appeal.

Full disclosure, my brother-in-law’s sister is a graduate of South Dakota State University.

  • Flame

Would love to see both Comedies back. Kix Brooks continually endorsing Reba’s show on American Country Countdown doesn’t seem to help much though.

And I guess we can safely assume that both Touch and Cult will not be back with those ratings.

  • Leisure

I’m totally convinced that Cult has to be the most overlooked show on all of television right now. Completely original series that nobody is ready for. One thing about The CW that they deserve credit for is finding these great quality series with original concepts in them.

ABC should definitely expand their Friday block to two hours. Don’t move the single-cams like Neighbors and Suburgatory to the block keep this exclusively multi-cams.

Girl Meets World is supposed to be on Disney Channel but I wouldn’t be too surprised if that idea gets changed for it to move to ABC instead. It’d be better off on ABC instead of DC. ABC can really have a strong comedy block if they just find one more comedy that works with them.

If NBC keeps Guys with Kids then they should see what it does on Fridays next season and create a competing family comedy block against ABC.

  • Dave

    @Ram15

I mean the finale was already announced so I’m almost certain that they’ll run the episodes straight through. Nikita was due for one more break that was originally scheduled for March 29th but I guess they changed their minds after they acquired the special(which turned out to be such a hit with JT and all ;) ).

But I think the show will regain momentum now. Craig stated that the Dirty Thirty storyline had been put on hold and starting from around episode 15, the show will dive into a huge arc that will take it to the finale.

  • Chris

Girl Meets World MUST come to ABC for next fall. It has to happen. It would be great. The fans would be familiar with the TGIF atmosphere and I was just reading somebody’s post on one of the Girl Meets World page on tvline and one person said they would be enticed to watch LMS and Malibu Country if GMW was on ABC with it. So right there it’s very strategic to bring GMW to ABC because the viewers would also stay and watch LMS and Malibu Country as well.

  • Networkman

WOW @ Last Man Standing garnering 1.6 demo and close to 8 million viewers. And IMO, Malibu Country’s season finale was its strongest episode yet. It is definately finding its footing and ABC should not get rid of Reba. In the Fall, I can see Last Man Standing garnering 2.0 demo. There is so much potential that ABC should really establish the 2 hour TGIF comedy block.

This Summer, the network should air repeats of both Last Man Standing and Malibu Country behind The Middle and Modern Family. ABC should really fight hard to get Girl Meets World as well so they can put all multi cam comedies on Friday.

This is what I would like to see:
    8pm Last Man Standing
    8:30pm John Leguizamo project
    9pm Girl Meets World
    9:30pm Malibu Country

  • forg

If ABC wants to move LMS along towards syndication then they better up their game. Two more 18 episode seasons like this one will only get the episode count to 78. But if the increase the episode count to 23 a season that will get them to the “magic” 88

ABC does not own LMS (it’s from FOX) so they don’t care about its syndication prospects but ABC should have extended their 18 ep order this season to at least 21 especially since I think Happy Endings has low shot of matching what it has been getting all season long.

  • Gregg

Did i see that right, a repeat of shark tank beat a new episide of Grim. Not only with total viewers, but the demo. now that is grimm.

  • Nick

    @forg

ABC should have extended their 18 ep order this season to at least 21 especially since I think Happy Endings has low shot of matching what it has been getting all season long.

Their reasoning for only giving the shows 18 episodes had nothing to do with Happy Endings, rather that they wanted them to air as little amount of episodes as possible in Daylight Savings Time. Apparently, the old TGIF took a sizable dip from DST. It’s too bad that their theory was wrong.

  • Brandy

@tedCraig, no GMW is not airing on abcfamily. Its airing on Disney.Abcfamily can only program 2 hours 2-3 nights a week half of the year.PLL was renewed for season four,Baby Daddy for season three,Switched at Birth will Likley get a renwal for season three. They just picked up Twisted and The Fosters and are still considering picking up Terminales.Im not sure about Melissa & Joey, Bunheads,Lying Game yet if they’ll get season four, two and more episodes/backorder for season two but if any of this happens and /or they pick up Terminales, they’ll be no room on the schedule for. GMW on abcfamily.Plus, they picked up Dancing Fools and Vineyard(reality shows) for this summer too.

  • Chris

@Networkman ABC’s pilots this season for comedies are not good at all. The only sure fire winner I see is “How The Hell Am I Normal.” That John Leguizamo pilot will not go. I doubt it would get greenlit and succeed. ABC would have better chances just renewing The Neighbors instead and putting it on there. It’s not like TGIF has never had single cams before. Remember Clueless and Dinosaurs?
