via press release:

In the 7 o’clock hour opposite CBS’ approximate 45-minute basketball overrun, ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos earned second place with viewers and young adults.  AFHV drew its biggest audience since mid-February – since 2/17/13

Building on its Adult 18-49 lead-in by 62% at 8pm, ABC’s Once Upon a Time finished a strong second to CBS’ basketball-fueled combo of 60 Minutes and Amazing Race in viewers and young adults.  The ABC drama won the hour across all key women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54) and Teens 12-17, and once again stood as Sunday’s top-rated broadcast series in W18-49Please Note:  Once Upon a Time is seeing considerably larger ratings increases after day of air, as compared to last Fall and the year-ago Spring. The Adult 18-49 increases for Once Upon a Time from L+SD to L+7 have gone from 42% last Fall up to 48% this Spring, and is also showing a much larger gain than the same point last Spring (39%).

At 9pm, ABC’s Revenge beat out the opening hour of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice by 17% in Total Viewers and by 20% in Adults 18-49.   Additionally, the sophomore drama made ABC the #1 broadcaster in the time period among Women 18-49.  On average, Revenge has grown its Adult 18-49 audience this season by 10% over the same point in its freshman season.

During the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s Red Widow grew by 20% week to week in Adults 18-49 to hit a best-since premiere number.  From 10-11pm, Red Widow ranked #1 among Adults 18-34 (tying the second hour of Celebrity Apprentice) and won among Women 18-34. Based the most recent Live + 7 Day ratings (for the 3/10/13 telecast), Red Widow jumped over its Live +Same Day numbers by 2.2 million viewers (5.3 million to 7.5 million) and spiked 55% in Adults 18-49 (1.1 rating to a 1.7 rating).

Looks at title, leaves before becoming nauseatingly dizzy from all the PR spin.

  • Mark

So it improved from total crap to mostly crap, still getting cancelled!

  • Oliver

I love you, relentlessly optimistic ABC PR department. Never change.

  • GG

i stopped watching after the pilot after seeing the ratings. I knew it would be canceled so i didn’t wanna watch it and end up liking it and see it getting canned. You cant watch anything on public network these days.

Is ABC going to pull a “I need to renew SOMETHING that was new this year just to prove what I picked wasn’t complete crap” routine again? Personally, I check out most of what ABC selects. The only one I liked (and it was moderately liked) was 666 Park Avenue. I felt like O’Quinn/Williams were stuck in a poorly scripted version of a Stephen King novel.

  • I Love TV!

ABC really screwed up it’s dramas….. Serves them right

Red Widow has drama, guns, drugs, and really good looking people which is perfect for the 18 to 49 year old female ABC wants tuning in on Sundays. Any increase is good for this show which quite frankly is typical cheesy content and pretty stupid but fun to watch.

What the heck else is there on TV at that time?

ABC has put up worse. Plus Radha Mitchell and Goran Visnjic are great eye candy for both men and women. Again what else is there to watch on Sunday nights.

At this point, I only hope ABC lets the last 3 eps. of Red Widow air (why not? They made them and have nothing else to air) and that the finale has at least some resolution and not too insane of a cliffhanger.

I was hoping the ratings for Red Widow would be up. Takes time for word to get around about a good new show. The last 2 episodes were really strong and it’s getting much better now that the ‘introduction’ is over. This series was originally a Dutch show that’s been really successful in Europe. So basically the writing is set already and the actors they chose for Red Widow are well known names – some great movie & theater actors. I predict it will be renewed, now that the ratings are high.

I love Red Widow. I’m so tired of every show I enjoy getting cancelled. I usually wait now until a show is in at least its second season before watching. All of these TV executives and their cancel-happiness are making women like me very jaded towards network TV. Red Widow is perfect for ABC, and ABC is really the only network station I bother watching. I’m a 34 year old woman, and lots of other women I know love this show, too. I imagine it was geared towards women age 18-49, and that is exactly who it appeals to.

I love this show and hope they don’t cancel it. I think the story line is great as well as the actors and I get impatient for the week to go by for another new episode. I will be so disappointed if this gets cancelled.

Red Widow is my Sunday guilty pleasure, after Revenge. Radha and Goran have great chemistry — and with all the cut & paste editing they do with the other story lines, their complex relationship works. Of course, ABC will cancel something with solid potential an fill in with some other crappy sitcom!

  • Candice

I love red widow and would be absolutely disappointed if ABC cancels this show because their ratings are up please don’t cancel this show I love the Sunday night line up from 8pm to 11pm
