|MIAMI – March 25, 2013 – Telemundo’s “Rumbo al Mundial” Soccer World Cup Qualifier between Honduras and Mexico (Friday, March 22 at 4:50 PM ET) delivered more than 2.3 million total viewers on average and nearly 1.3 million adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. The highly anticipated match also delivered a cumulative audience of more than 4.7 million total viewers, 7% more than the last match by the Mexican National Team broadcast by Telemundo (Guyana vs. Mexico, aired on October 12, 2012).
“Rumbo al Mundial” was the top ranked telecast among total viewers in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco, regardless of language in the time period. The Honduras vs. Mexico match was also rated # 1 program in the time period among adults 18-49 in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Phoenix and San Francisco, regardless of language.
Telemundo’s “Rumbo al Mundial” Honduras vs. México World Cup qualifying match was narrated by internationally acclaimed sportscaster Andrés Cantor alongside soccer expert Sammy Sadovnik. Andrés and Sammy were joined by Jessi Losada, Oscar Guzmán and Kaziro Aoyama during the “Junto Al Tri” and “La Antesala” pregame shows.
