Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Social media isn’t everything. Excuse what honey? Lol

  • ZmaX

    @Burk
    “Turkey just created its own version of Revenge”

    Yup, that’s a good point. it’s produced by Disney (ABC’s parent company) so it is profitable for the studio(not sure how much though)

    I watched the trailers for the Turkish version (w/ English subtitles) and it’s kinda surreal. Everything is the same, but it’s also different haha. I guess that’s how the British feel like when they see American remakes of their shows LOL

  • Burk

    @JacobYates

    Ok but that wasn’t my only point in my post above. I suggest you do your own shutting. sit down and take several seats please. Revenge is safe for season 3 whether you people want it or not. lol

  • Melissa

    @Burk

    Social media popularity is EVERYTHING now, if you didn’t know.

    There was an article here a few months ago about how Nielsen wanted to include social media interactions in the ratings.

    Excuse what, honey? lol

    Read this article (tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/03/24/wait-what-the-twitter-tv-ratings-that-nielsen-and-twitter-announced-wont-get-included-in-the-tv-ratings/174732/) published by TV by the Numbers yesterday, then come back and talk to me about the importance of social media. Nielsen collects and reports social media data for additional revenue, but it has nothing to do with the C+3 A18-49 ratings that actually determine whether a show will be renewed or cancelled.

  • Burk

    @ZmaX

    Haha i watched that too. The main actress is kind of actually pretty. It looks interesting. lol

    And I believe Season 4 will happen too because by then, it will be very close to reaching syndication deals, which equals more $ and profit to the network and the studio.

  • ally

    @ melissa- Lol dont think many people would agree with that. Season 1 was by far the best

  • POI

    Once Upon a time might get canceled if it keeps dropping because the production cost must be much higher than most of ABC shows and with these ratings they will lose more money than they will make.

  • Melissa

    @ally

    Lol dont think many people would agree with that. Season 1 was by far the best

    *headdesk*

    I’m talking about the ratings. Lost’s first season averaged a 6.9, whereas its second season averaged a 7.9.

  • Ash

    @Ally

    Everyone has different opinions of what season they liked best ;)

  • ally

    @ ally – oh sorry i was talking About quality wise.

  • Ash

    @Ally

    Talking to yourself? :)

  • ally

    doh meant @ melissa

  • Devon

    I’LL WAIT FOR THE FINAL NUMBERS BEFORE JUMPIMG TO CONCLUSIONS. These fast national ratings get everybody riled up for no good reason every week. And those are the ratings people usualy hold in their head because they are the first to come out.

  • ZmaX

    Yeah, she is pretty :) but the guy playing Nolan looked hilarious.

    yeah, definitely. I’m pretty confident in a 4th season too.

  • frodo

    Revenge is most definitely safe. Its not going anywhere, next season the ratings will go back up, last season it declined during Spring(falling to a 2.0 in the demo) and by the time the season 2 premiere came around the ratings were back up to a (3.2).

    And no other show on network TV faces the competition that Revenge and The Good Wife do.

    Downton Abby, The Walking Dead, The Bible and Game of Thrones are huge and those are only 4 of dozen of other high profile shows on cable TV. Also Grammys, Golden Globes, NFC, NFL, Baseball, Family Guy, etc.

    Everything on broadcast tv Sunday has fallen. Revenge and Once are still just about certain to be renewed.

  • zerg

    Don’t be worry OUAT and RV haters, next year with this current schedule, they will be both dead aganist Awards,crazy breaks and especially the Olympics that took down badly DH back in 2010..

  • Jonathan

    The Red Widow jumping Revenge was a joke lol people are so crazy on here!!

  • JacobYates

    @Burk
    I have nothing against Revenge. I want it to get a season 3 because my grandparents love it. At least check my posts to make sure you accuse me of the right thing.

  • JacobYates

    @Burk
    I’m aware that Twitter wasn’t the only topic of your post, but it was all just fan excuse bingo drivel.

  • seekerslegacy

    I seriously laugh my ass off at some of the comments implying that somehow “Once” is a bad show because it has low ratings. No no, it’s just as good as it’s always been. Maybe you’re in denial.
