NEW YORK – March 26, 2013 – Syfy has announced its popular time traveling police drama Continuum will return for a second season. The 13 all-new episode season will premiere in its new time period beginning Friday, June 7 at 10PM (ET/PT).

During its first season, Continuum delivered 1.35 million total viewers, 644K Adults 25-54 and 537K Adults 18-49. In its time period, the series ranked #6 in Adults 25-54 and #10 in Adults 18-49 among all cable entertainment programs with at least three telecasts (based on most current data).

New episodes of Continuum pick up after the gripping Season 1 finale when Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols/Criminal Minds, Alias) fought a ticking clock to prevent a cataclysmic act of terrorism.

Cameron is a cop from the future who finds herself trapped in the present day, swept along when a group of fanatical terrorists escaped their planned execution in 2077 by vaulting back in time.

Continuum co-stars Victor Webster (Castle, Melrose Place) as detective Carlos Fonnegra and Erik Knudsen (Jericho, Scream 4), who plays teen tech genius Alec Sadler.

Executive producers of Continuum are series creator Simon Barry (The Art of War), Pat Williams (Smallville), and Tom Rowe (Tin Man). Continuum is a Showcase original series and is produced by Reunion Pictures in association with Shaw Media.

Thank God for this. And thank God we don’t have to wait till next winter either!

Why the hell does SyFy have to air the show 2 months later than it airs in Canada ?
All that does it encourage illegal downloading of the show and lower ratings for SyFy when they actually air the show.
I guess they probally get the show for so cheap that they do not care about the lower ratings.

This is without a doubt the best Science Fiction on T.V. today and its a shame that the US has to wait an extra 2 months to view it.

I knew this was going to happen and sure enough I was correct.
SyFy just cant get anything right these days!

Plenty of countries dont air shows at the exact same day or time. UK have to wait months US shows to air.

Good that SyFy has decided to pick this up for a second season, but I wish it wasn’t on Fridays. Wait a sec, if it’s at 10 pm, does this mean it will have a lead-in?

  • Jamie

Love this show. For a low-budget drama it’s convincing, well written and well acted.

Pretty good show, especially for a time travel show. Season one was decent. Cast is pretty good. Victor Webster isn’t terribly impressive, but the rest are decent character actors seen in many other shows.

coolioni: If the show airs in Canada in April, I probably will be downloading it. But I download everything, so I don’t count anyway.

It would be interesting to see what effect downloaders have on the ratings, but it’s probably next to impossible to get that data. My guess is the effect on ratings would be relatively small, probably less than those who find a way to view it online before or after it airs. The downloading “scene” is robust despite Megauploads demise, but I’m not sure what real effect it has on ratings compared to other factors.

Continuum, a Canadian show, will be back on for Season 2 in April in the UK. Its first season is currently airing in repeat in the UK.

Love this show. I am so happy it is coming back. It is one of the best shows airing right now.

  • Tom

Rachel Nichols is the consummate B movie actress. Good looking with no acting range. One season of watching her stonefaced expression was plenty for me.

  • Steve

The problem was that “Continuum” started as a scifi show, but quickly morphed into a standard cop show. And not even a good one at that.

  • Dan

I would expect Season 2 (or at the most, 3) to be the last. That way, the producers can end it properly. The show’s great, but some of the acting leaves little to be desired.
