Well that explains the buzz….the right wingers love a good lie to believe in….

Right-wing media are claiming that the federal government spent money on research grants and other expenses for puppets during the automatic budget cuts known as sequestration, despite the fact that the grants were all paid prior to the budget cuts.

On Wednesday, Breitbart.com attacked the administration for stopping tours of the White House as a result of budget cuts in a post titled “U.S. Spends $1.18 Million On Puppets Amid Sequester,” and claimed the government could “cut federal ‘puppet expenditures’ to keep the people’s house open.” The website listed spending from the National Science Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, among other sources, as federal spending on “puppets and puppetry-related expenses.”

Fox Nation hyped the Breitbartcom post, labeling it a “report”:

Fox’s finest said. Fox & Friends joined in on Thursday when co-host Steve Doocy said: “1.18 million, that’s how much the government has spent on puppets since 2009. That’s enough to pay for more than a year’s worth of White House tours.”

However, the grants and contracts that Breitbartcom cited were all paid prior to 2013. A screenshot of the search terms used by Breitbartcom reveals the most recent grants were paid in fiscal year 2012, which ended on September 30, 2012. Sequestration took place on March 1, 2013, almost six months later.

Despite the claims of Fox News and Breitbartcom, these expenditures have nothing to do with the cancelation of White House tours. The spending cited by Breitbartcom did not come out of the budget of the Secret Service, which made the decision to stop providing security for the tours due to its own budget cuts under the sequester.

    HeHe! Though I’d share….

Today Fox News is the highest rated cable news network, having surpassed the innovator, and long-time leader, CNN about ten years ago. However, putting that into perspective, Fox News still draws only about half the viewers of the lowest rated broadcast news program (CBS Evening News), and about 25% of the broadcast leader’s audience (NBC Nightly News). Its ratings are lower than Jon Stewart’s Daily Show and Spongebob Squarepants too. Nevertheless, Fox has parlayed its cable success into a juggernaut of hype and hyperbole.

@chriscee…………………what is up about the direct tv box mentioned yesterday?

  • DB

This just in, USA8888 has said he will live up to his promise to leave the site if Ashley Judd did not beat McConnel. Since the dem party won’t even let her run he admits that probably means she won’t win. He has asked me to say good bye for him. He apologizes for being so annoying and admits his posts were totally false and asks we realize no one could be as stupid as he pretended to be. We all wish him the best as the new janitor at the Daily Kos. I have it on good authority that Jeffie will be his new boss.

    @Raz
That must have been one heck of a Coffee Klach

I’m just grateful I was wearing my jammies

I guess I should have explained that the eldest son whom had became the leader of the home when the Father passed away was a Christian and studying to be a pastor.

  • DB

Jeffie, I would say you missed the point on the puppets story but it is hard to tell if you missed it or not since nothing you posted came out of your head. I will just say the leftie website missed the point that the government wastes enough money in all agencies such that the WH tours should not have been an area cut.

I like the Star Trek spoof that the IRS made with our Money, but Captain Kirk wasn’t so happy with it :-)

  • Moncon

I’m wondering why Harry Reid blocked votes on taking money from the $50,000,000.00 FAA slush fund to keep those 149 small towers open. Is he using the sequester for political gain? Seems like common sense.

  • Doug Z

What is wrong with CNN two more lib, Democrats.

CNN announced today that Chris Cuomo and Kate Bolduan will co-host the network’s new morning show

    You guys see this one?

A group of Senators was at the border talking about how secure it was, and while they were talking a young Mexican woman jumped the border fence into the US.

I wish I was making it up LOL

  • Chriscee

    Hi Ninja

My husband purchased the ROKU box – hooked it up to our direct tv so we can receive the Glenn Beck TV. We pay a monthly fee for Glenn Beck I think it’s $9.95. So instead of just watching it on the computer we can now watch it on our tv.

We were talking about how many direct tv boxes we have – we have 2 tivo boxes…so we can record up to 4 programs at once….then we have 3 just small boxes….that are not tivo.

But once we turn on the roku we can watch Glenn Beck on any TV in the house. My husband likes to watch him while he’s working out.

Hopefully one day direct tv will carry the glenn beck channel and then we don’t have to use the ROKU. Just pay for the subscription service.

I heard that Beck also has now made a deal with Sirius/XM to have the Glen Beck Radio Channel.

I cancelled my Sirius/XM in my Silverado truck when Sirius decided to drop channel 126–which was the Fox News Talk Channel. Of course though…Sirius kept the Liberal Talk channel. That Channel carried Kilmeade and Friends, John Gibson, Tom Sullivan, David Webb and a few others. Though they still carry Fox News Channel and they still have channel 125 which I think airs Beck, Hannity and Alan Colmes.

Sirius has called me several times with “deals” and I just keep refusing…telling them once the re-install channel 126 to what it was….give me a call. Until then, stop bothering me.

Yep, so they gave her a job, food stamps, and a welfare check plus a shotgun with Bidens picture on the stock to keep her safe from attack!

I just cannot believe that HollyWEIRD is now going to idolize Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground.

Our country have gone completely off the deep end.

California is going to spend another $68 Billion dollars (of which they do not have) to build a Rail system. They will employ Felons and Dropouts.

Thank God I don’t live in California and have to ride that rail system. SMH
