@chriscee…….thanks……………….what else is it used for?

Maj. Nicole Mitchell, “weather babe,” who for seven years was a familiar face on the Weather Channel says the weather channel fired her because of her military service. How sad. I can remember her reporting on missions she’d fly into hurricanes.

    Hi Ninja

My husband purchased the ROKU box

 I just switched over to ATT UVerse yesterday for my TV, internet, and phone. I will be saving a bunch of money but get this, the biggest package including Showtime and HBO was to be $175 a month but the package one lower did not have HBO but they will give me HBO free for 3 months. Follow me here……If I don’t call and cancel at the end of 3 months they start charging for HBO. Got it so far?…..at a rate of 16 bucks per month! So now I will pay $156 for the $175 package!!!! D’OH!!!!

The guy said after a loooooong silence when I brought it up, “Well there is some extra stuff in the big package too BUT…….no one ever watches it!”

  • Chriscee

It’s a streaming player…I assume you can use for other things like Netflix and etc. We’ve only used it for Glenn Beck.

Oh and this weekend on Direct TV….is free HBO and Cinemax weekend. We don’t subscribe to either…but may catch a free movie…lol

  • Doug Z

ChrisceeMy computer is connected to five TVs in the house. If you have and old TV you can get a box on ebay to make it compatible for the old TV for $15. It is great and cheaper.

  • Chriscee

I wished we could just go through Direct TV Listings and pick the channels WE WANT…and delete the rest of the garbage out there….but nope..when you get one..you get them all–I hate it when they put the “movie titles” right underneath or above the channel you want to watch….I know they are hoping I accidently click on that movie title and accidently buy it.

    It’s a streaming player

With my UVerse I am getting some kind of DVR that records 4 shows at once and a wireless hook up for one tv and all this stuff that I will never use. Heck it is gonna take me months to figure out the new remote!!! I may just leave the TV on all the time!

  • Chriscee

I’ll have to tell my husband that Doug. I watch the dumb thing…lol

He’s expert at TV business in this house. His job it to make sure the darn thing WORKS!! lolol

  • Doug Z

    Chriscee

You have HBO showtime , cinamax on your computer with all cable companies and Dishes on your computer now. Just go to HBO or the others and sign in with your company.

  • Chriscee

LOL Rat…I hate the dumb remote.. It looks like something from inside an airplane. We didn’t have direct tv until we moved back to Colorado in 2011. In Maryland we had cable tv. Only because of the weather – ie: hurricanes and I wanted up-to-date information on our area. We lived 2 hours south of DC….and they rarely gave weather for us on the DC TV stations.

    @Ratboy

You need to learn the art of negotiation :-)

I have DirecTV (with DVR)–With the complete Sports Package but No movie Channels

I use Insight (soon to be Time Warner) for my 20 mpbs internet and digital TV with a cable DVR and Phone service..I yacked and yacked when I dumped Insight last year and they kept calling an calling until one day I told them I will NOT pay the rate you were charging after the year promo charge, they asked, how can we get you back?

I said by charging the same as you did for the promo year or I’ll never get Cable back.

I now have both services DirecTV and Cable (Net, TV, & Phone) 2 DVR’s every sports channel that exists and I pay 160 a month :-)

My TV has multiple source inputs so I can use cable and Satellite. Neet Huh? :-)

  • ninja

Our directv bill is 169.24 month.

  • Chriscee

Here where we live….we have Baja Broadband…they are a cable, phone and internet company…but we only get their internet. We do have this little box that came with direct tv hooked up to the internet..I assume it’s for watching the movies…

My husband is the movie watcher… He downloads them and then watches them on his lap top when he has time. lol

  • Coffee Steve

    BBL… 3 tests to give

  • Chriscee

Our Direct TV is $116 a month..but we don’t subscribe to any of the PAY channels.

But we do pay big bux for our internet…it’s $74.00 a month. And that is internet only.

In Maryland when we had cable tv with internet it was about $175.00 a month…and we didn’t pay for any pay channels there either..

So it’s about the same here as it was there.

I was punked twice as d.d., but , I always had an avatar. It is by far easier getting one than tracking down an offender.

Massachusetts Auditor finds 119 matches between day cares and sex offenders

A shocking state audit released today revealed 119 cases where addresses for registered sex offenders matched those of child care providers licensed by the beleaguered state Department of Early Education and Care.

In mid-audit, Bump said she took her findings — which included both Level 2 and Level 3 sex offenders — to EEC, which began an investigation. EEC revoked providers’ licenses in four cases where their operators had full knowledge of the sex offender’s status but never reported the information to EEC.

But Bump’s audit also discovered EEC — whose $197,585 a year commissioner Sherri Killins resigned earlier this month amid a Herald investigation — failed to ensure child-care providers run required CORI checks on staffers.

In a one-year period, EEC didn’t perform a single unannounced inspection of a home-based child-care center, which are required by law, Bump said.

An illegal daycare worker from Wakefield was charged in December with more than 100 charges in a horrifying child sex abuse case.

Puff, puff , puff. Who wants to help me Spring houseclean ? I’ve cleaned & polished the kitchen cabinets & countertops this morning, polished the wood floors, bleached the sinks,&, I dread what is left to do. Rats, come help & no frilly apron is required.

    ————–

I always try to familiarize myself with a little more Obamacare every day.

Seniors needing hospital care will be shocked at cutbacks. Section 3000A of the law awards bonus points to the hospitals that spend the least per senior

Consumers trying to get their insurance from a state exchange will have to hand their Social Security Number and 15 pages of financial and family information to exchange “assisters” — temps often hired from community groups. In California, civil-rights activists are fighting to prevent background checks for would-be “assisters” because it would disqualify too many minority men with prior convictions.

Do you want an assister to have your SS # ?

  • ninja

@Coffee……………….is your addres P.O. BOX 9001069 —- Louisville KY 40290 ? That’s where we send the bill. LOL

Catholic League Asks Time Warner CEO to ‘Have a Serious Talk’ With Bill Maher

The Catholic League has clearly had enough of Bill Maher’s regular anti-religious tirades on HBO’s Real Time.

On Tuesday, League president Bill Donohue sent a letter to Time Warner CEO Glenn Britt saying, “The time has come for someone in a position of responsibility to sit down and have a serious talk with this man”:
