@Alex beauty and the beast was suppose to do better than tsc…batb is a procedural..it wasn’t suppose to decline like serials. A .5-.6 may not be enough for renewal…producers should have a backup plan to move the show to cable

“The thing is if fox cancelled idol then other networks in town would be interested in it and would jump at brand.”

I’ll bet my horse money for this year’s Kentucky Derby that any network that seeks to buy Idol, not only from FOX but from 19E, will be able to get it DIRT CHEAP!! FOX would have made out like bandits if they sold it in 2010, when it was still capable of drawing 20-26 million viewers per show and nearly 3 times its current demo.

If by any chance Idol IS sold, I hope the new owner CLEANS HOUSE! EVERYONE, from Cecile Frot-Coutaz down to Nicki Minaj, GONE! Strip that place down to the frame and start over!

  • CookyMonzta

For example, let us assume Idol was worth $300 million in 2010. Right now they’d have trouble selling the show for more than $75 million, maybe $100 million max.

NBC is becoming a really good cable network, ratings wise. However, it is a horrible network network. But I still love me some NBC comedy. #sixseasonsandamovie

I would remind people that a decent international SALES figure per episode for BATB does NOT equal decent international RATINGS. If the ratings overseas are doing no better than the ratings here, then the buyers won’t offer the same rate for season two. Which may make the show much less profitable for the CW.

Also, once again, the issue is what will the show do NEXT season, not just this season. Doing a .6 average this season probably means a .5 or lower next season. Keeping in mind that it would only be season TWO, can the CW – and more importantly, the studio – justify a renewal on that low a rating? I think not. It may be possible, but in all likelihood would be a mistake for both the studio and the network.

THANK you..BAtB starte btw like smallvile did and look what did this show become at the end…if i know one fact then its the BATB dont have much base of fans..but his fans are loyal to him
the show starte slow then when the real story begin the fans just stopped missin anymore ep
i think if this show just given some time he will be something big.

  • AA

Where is that idiot Max the scandal fan who was going on about how Scandal is ABC’s star show? Lmao. It can’t even beat Greys.

  • CH2164

Isn’t BATB doing the same as HOD last year??

  • Melissa

    @The 47th

Grey’s will end next season, when the contracts of the original cast are up.

Even if the original cast members decide not to stay past season ten, ABC will probably try to keep the show going without them. After all, it’s still their highest rated drama by a noticeable margin.

I am still trying to figure out why NBC chose this week to air a repeat of Community. Wouldn’t they rather Community be an original episode against the basketball 1.7 vs. going new next week against a new The Big Bang Theory ?

  • Claudia

@Ryan Exactly, people dropped the show at the beginning because they thought it was procedural, but it was never intended to be that now they gave the show the right direction and its becoming more of a series, now it just got better, if you liked the premise of BATB you might want to try it again, and if you never did then you will never like this show IMHO.

  • Ally

LOL laughing at all the tweets about #BatB .. cant believe people still want 2 try & trash on it.. if you dont like it, then dont watch it & move on with your life.. seriously, what do those ppl (u know u are) gain from it?
Anyways, i’m glad the final ratings didn’t decrease. This show gets better & better every episode. I think the CW will renew it & have it air on a different night, perhaps tuesdays.
Also, unless the CW is Really confident about the pilots they have, i doubt they’ll get ride of #BatB.

  • ryan

THANK YOU very much.. well said.
i’m crossing my fingers and hoping the final ratings dont go down
i’m just surprised from all this hate toward the shows idk why???
honestly this show deserve lots more rate and viewers then 1.5 0.6
its easily one of the best cw shows that has it now

  • Laurel

I agree with you , too , Ally. I can’t understand how people have such hatred for a television show ! I keep seeing people hating American Idol. If you don’t like it , don’t watch it. Obviously millions of people do like it so get over it !!

Also– I liked another person’s idea of Idol winners being judges. That would be really different. The public voted for them so they’re already well-liked. Their advice would be invaluable.

  • scifi

BatB has a star, so it will be renewed.

  • Oliver

NBC is airing originals of Community/Parks/Office from next week through to the end of the season. NBC probably sees a consistent all-new lineup as more beneficial than avoiding basketball, especially as they will probably promote the night.

The Secret Circle was far better than Beauty and The Beast. BaTB is one of those shows where you either really hate it, or really like it. I’m not here to talk about the show, I’m here to talk about the ridiculous fanbase. (Only on this site though. I don’t want to see other places.) BaTB fans say they have the right to talk about their love for this show and their hatred for TSC but when someone states the obvious, like for example they say; “BaTB loses half of The Vampire Diaries’ demo. They did worse than TSC.” BaTB fans go all crazy. It’s true though. It does lose half of the audience and while the standard for the CW is lower this year, this should be unacceptable. The only reason that the CW puts a specific type of show after TVD (TSC, BaTB & The Originals probably. Not Nikita though.) is so that they can find another strong anchor like TVD. BaTB is obviously not it. If this year, it’s averaging a .6 then next year will be .4/.5. The CW should think about that. Also, international sales mean nothing without a demo or whatever.

TSC had better ratings, It had a more loyal fanbase and it was simply a better show. None of you understand that the CW doesn’t want low rated shows after TVD. (And while a .6 is good for the CW, it’s not good after TVD.) Thats why they cancelled TSC. If the CW does renew BaTB, I’ll be really angry because it doesn’t deserve it. You can argue that it’s steady, but it’s still relatively low. The real question is, is whether or not The CW will renew BaTB and cancel The Carrie Diaries.

Personally, I think that TCD deserves the renewal. It’s cheap(er) and its ratings are okay, for the CW. I mean, they can renew both shows because they cancelled Cult, Emily Owens MD, 90210 and The L.A Complex which is a lot. The CW Should have waited to air one of these shows in the summer. (It would have been TCD because The CW wants BaTB to succeed badly.) I think it could get 0.4/0.5/0.6 and it would have been renewed. The CW airs trashy, low rated shows in the summer and that would have been a refreshing turn. Look, all I’m saying is that The CW should really think before renewing. TCD is really steady while BaTB’s ratings are all over the place. (Save for the last 2 episodes.)

    Think, CW.

  • ryan

you are just some TSC mad fan that all :)
and you just wish they cancel BATB bec you just hate it
buy yaaah let just say thats not gona happen
plz you can now move your hate toward the next show

The Secret Circle is gone, get over it! That show kept decreasing and decreasing with each episode, after its premiere it was around the 1.0-0.8 range and by the last couple of chapters it had fell to a 0.5.

BATB has been quite stable its been in the 0.5-0.7 range. BATB is also much cheaper, it better on an international scale and its currently getting more and more buzz by each episode.

The Carrie Diaries is dead, it was suppose to be a hit for the CW and yet it can barely get a 0.4 in the demo and is under 1 million viewers.

Another factor is that BATB has aired twice as many episodes as the Carrie Diaries.

The CW has been struggling with their new shows. They will keep two. BATB and Arrow will be renewed.

    Plot twist:

ABC stuns the industry by buying BATB. When asked why, an insider could only respond, “We can’t get enough of those TV by the Numbers wars over Scandal and Revenge, but it’s getting a little stale. BATB vs. Scandal vs. Revenge…boom goes the dynamite!”

ABC would not confirm that anyone working at their network actually said “boom goes the dynamite.”
