Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for CBS (NCAA Basketball tournament) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

CBS and ABC tied for number 1 in adults 18-49 while FOX won with Total Viewers.

NOTE: Versus last week, A18-49 usage was down -7% from 8-10p and -8% in the 8-9pm hour  last night.

On FOX,  American Idol scored a 2.7, down two tenths from last week's 2.9 adults 18-49 rating. This is the lowest Adults 18-49 rating ever for any Idol, any night. A one-hour Raising Hope earned a 1.3 from 9-10PM. Two half hour episodes earned a 1.4 at 9PM and a 1.2 at 9:30PM. Both are down from its last original's 1.5, which aired a month ago.

On ABC, Wife Swap garnered a 1.4, down three tenths from last week's 1.7 adults 18-49 rating.  Grey's Anatomy earned a 2.8, down two tenths from last week's 3.0 adults 18-49 rating. Scandal earned a 2.6, down a single tenth from last week's 2.7 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS, the NCAA Tournament earned a preliminary 2.3  adults 18-49 rating from 8-11PM, but as noted are likely to be adjusted in the final ratings, and only cover the primetime portion of the telecasts.

On NBC, two episodes of 1600 Penn scored a series lows 0.7 at both 8:30 and 9:30, both down from last week's 0.9 adults 18-49 rating.

On The CW, The Vampire Diaries earned a 1.2, down a single tenth from last week's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.  Beauty and the Beast was even with last week's 0.6 adults 18-49 rating.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

The Voice? Really? It wasn’t on last night. More exclamation marks just makes you even less readable.

  • TrueTV

Scandal has proven itself to have a core fanbase/audience that isn’t going anywhere. If you track the numbers you would see that. It really hasn’t gotten that much promotion from ABC compared to their other shows, either, so that excuse is crap. They have a strong social media presence and that has helped the show. It has even impacted the industry. So, because of these things I believe even if it was moved it would still do well. Its fans are very dedicated and involved with this show.

  • RS

Thank you for telling us that this picture is your “Beast.” Those of us who do not watch Beauty and the Male Model certainly would have had no visual clues of this.

  • Claudia

@Richard, Srly your rant against BATB is getting old already, every week its getting worst and worst but still keeps its following, so its obvious you dont like the show but keep watching it because it seems you know whats going on. Thats fine I get it the show might have its flaws nothing is perfect as many shows in the CW, but there are many people (women) that like the show and follow it like religion.

It’s obvious you are a TVD fan, I, on the other hand, find that show boring and predictable and awfully acted, but hey I respect other people’s likes so I dont keep trashing it over and over. And I can enjoy a show like BATB as much as I enjoy TWD, Spartacus, Justified, & Vikings which are the 5 shows Im currently watching. So its not about that the show sucks but whether you like the premise or not. So why stick around? Just move on and leave the rant already, we get it you dont like it.

  • Gem is truly outragious

American Idol needs to do one big season next year and then go gracefully into tv history rather than dragging it out and going down in flames 5 years from now.

  • solelle

I am a TVD fan but I agree with you on some points this has by far IMHO been the worse season of the entire series. If it does not improve I will dump it from my schedule next season. Its been almost as bad as that crapfest Nikita. Well almost it is hard to be as bad as Nikita.

  • Hugh

Has NBC ever finished 6th before? Uuuuh

  • Melissa

Again I feel compelled to ask what metric you (or anyone else) is using to definitively state that any given hour is the most or second most competitive hour of the week. If you’re going to throw around statements like that you should probably have some grasp of the criteria being used because unlike most watched its not something easily or simply measured. For the record I’d be concerned about citing Spotted Ratings where there seems to be some confusion about what the words objective and subjective mean.

Seriously, just let it go. You were proven wrong and now you’re just trying to make excuses. I’m fully aware of the criteria being used to calculate the information; you can read about it clearly at Spotted Ratings. Oh, and that’s nice that you’re worried about the reliability of Spotted Ratings, but the editor of that site surely knows just a bit more about ratings than you do.

  • Claudia

@RS sure you dont know who the male model is…

  • ryan

for those who say cancel BATB..i just dnt understand why all this hate???
the show wons ((ppl chioce award for best new tv drama))
ok i admit he started really slow which why he is at this rate right now
but those who are watchin it know it got really better over the ep
finally some of the biggest tv show started like this and ended up with 10 season((smallville))
and finally JUST RESPECT what other may think just because you dnt watch it means its bad
if this show givin two or three season i bit his rate will reach TVD.

  • Ally

Lol sersly the #BatB haters are so hilarious! ..”beauty and the male model”.. i get a great laugh just reading all the comments.. & btw do you guys Sersly think that any1 would watch the show if Jay Ryan was forced 2 wear the Beast mask the whole time? i mean really, Of course he had 2 be handsome, its the CW 4 crying out loud!
BatB is the kind of show that you either really LOVE or really hate… and if feel bad 4 those that never gave it a second chance, i hope that if it gets renewed those ppl do give it another chance. God Forbid they might actually like it.

  • Maddie

Looking at the ratings brings up questions. How can Nikita be renewed and BATB be undecided. It has better ratings and had always been in a poor time slot against big shows like Person of Interest, Grey’s Anatomy, and White Collar. If it had been where Arrow is would it have done so poorly? Not sure how you make your decisions. There is so much potential for BATB. Why is CW sitting on their decisions about BATB?

  • theCroup

Have you actually been reading anything anyone says about Nikita? Nikita makes the CW a ton of money overseas. Maggie Q is a big action star in Asia and apparently that has translated to good international syndication revenue. Basically, as low as Nikita’s ratings are domestically, it is profitable.

The situation for BATB is murkier so they are taking longer to decide.

  • Maddie

After reading the above comments, I have to say something more. BATB is not just about Jay and his looks. Why do the viewers feel that he has to look ugly? This is a modern day story that involves our world as it is. All the characters are great and have a story all their own. BATB has a dedicated fan base because it is a great show to watch. We all love J.T.
and the rest of the cast. It is truly a different type show. The beast is a superhero because he is a guy that was victimized by society and yet he still wants to save people.

  • bjssp

You might not read this, and I’ll surely say it again, but what the hell: the reason NBC needs to shorten The Voice by a half hour is that it needs to jump start its comedy development in any way possible. It could always hope for a self-starter, but it makes more sense, I think, to give two different comedies a boost, or rather as many comedies as possible. At least in the fall, the best way to do that is to run The Voice for an 1.5 hours on Monday and 1 hour on Tuesday, putting new comedies behind it. There would probably be a short-term loss, but the long-term gain would be considerable.

  • bjssp

Again, not sure if you’re reading this, but…it’s not clear how much of TGW’s and Revenge’s audience choose one show over the other, if any at all, but it’s not hard to believe. TGW probably took a bite out of DH and made that show fall faster, as it was going after the same sort of demographic.

  • Robin

You think tvd is awfully acted clearly you haven’t seen kristin kreuk’s acting

  • Claudia

@Robin, Exactly my point is not what it is, it is what the likes of people means….I think Nina is an awful actress but I love Kristin acting, and you seems to think different…so it really comes to the eye of the beholder! :)

  • -A

I liked Idol… when Nicki Minaj wasn’t in it. The fact that she gets to judge people like Candice Glover (I do watch the performances on youtube after the show) is an absolute insult to music itself.
