Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for CBS (NCAA Basketball tournament) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

CBS and ABC tied for number 1 in adults 18-49 while FOX won with Total Viewers.

NOTE: Versus last week, A18-49 usage was down -7% from 8-10p and -8% in the 8-9pm hour  last night.

On FOX,  American Idol scored a 2.7, down two tenths from last week's 2.9 adults 18-49 rating. This is the lowest Adults 18-49 rating ever for any Idol, any night. A one-hour Raising Hope earned a 1.3 from 9-10PM. Two half hour episodes earned a 1.4 at 9PM and a 1.2 at 9:30PM. Both are down from its last original's 1.5, which aired a month ago.

On ABC, Wife Swap garnered a 1.4, down three tenths from last week's 1.7 adults 18-49 rating.  Grey's Anatomy earned a 2.8, down two tenths from last week's 3.0 adults 18-49 rating. Scandal earned a 2.6, down a single tenth from last week's 2.7 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS, the NCAA Tournament earned a preliminary 2.3  adults 18-49 rating from 8-11PM, but as noted are likely to be adjusted in the final ratings, and only cover the primetime portion of the telecasts.

On NBC, two episodes of 1600 Penn scored a series lows 0.7 at both 8:30 and 9:30, both down from last week's 0.9 adults 18-49 rating.

On The CW, The Vampire Diaries earned a 1.2, down a single tenth from last week's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.  Beauty and the Beast was even with last week's 0.6 adults 18-49 rating.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

AI, ouch. And that’s with no BBT.

It hasn’t seen lower than a 2.6 since last year. That is great news all around and it has been holding steady at a 2.7 for the past few episodes, I’m not shocked it slipped this week considering the break and whatnot. I hope it will be up next week, the episode looks great!

  • touchsucks

raising hope benifits nothing from AI,it’s sad for both shows

  • martin

i think Idol will will increase–alot of comments on Twitter said they were watching it for 1st time in years because of OneRepublic – Katharine McPhee were on–myself included! so Idol numbers – increase!!!

  • vincentdante

I imagine the NCAA tournament made some viable inroads on ratings last night. Big-time upsets often cause the casual viewer to have a rooting interest,

  • Lane

This is the first season of AI i have not watched. If they would remove that trainwreck Nicki Minage from the show now, I bet next weeks shows demos would be back in 4’s.

  • Ashley

AI going..going…soon to be gone. Seriously, how many seasons can you have? I enjoy The Voice now but after another season or two, at most, I will bore of it too. BaTB seems to be doing ok but we’ll see if it gets adjusted down or remain. When TBBT returns, AI will get slaughtered.

What heavy competition did Revolution have? Castle and Hawaii 5-0? I’m not saying the rating isn’t good but Revolution was a show that premiered with a 4.1 and is now down to a 2.6 after a break. The Half-hours were wrecked and it slipped to a 2.4 at one point. I don’t see them as a comparison because they are on different networks but Scandal slipping .1 from last week is uneventful and not something anyone should worry about.

You say good for Grey but it is down from last week and had zero competition work considering. POI was not on to counter it, I love Grey and I’m glad it won the night above Idol but Scandal and Grey both were clear to basically dominate the hour.

  • Ash

Well, time to start preparing for the funeral of AI. It’s just getting embarrassing at this point. Next week, it will get slaughtered by BBT.

  • Dave

    Wow what a bloodbath

  • Shay

B&TB steady at that 0.6 even with half hours

  • frodo

Scandal has no competition, no wonder it gets these ratings, but I am still happy for Scandal fans. Looks like Beauty will get renewed, which is good, the show is 1000x better now than it was in its first chapters which where cheesy.

Happy Grey’s is still going strong.

    AI keeps falling each week.

  • AJ

I did not see these low Raising Hope ratings coming.

  • John A

Great for TVD. Lmao at Raising Hope what a loser out of Idol.

  • Bookworm

    Thanks Rob

NCAA did great numbers last night, I think this might be the first episode in like 8 where Scandal doesn’t win the night. I won’t count it much since it is a live sporting event and could be adjusted down. Either way, great numbers for CBS in that hour!

Scandal half hours are steady ,good sign. Hopefully no adjustments.

  • Ash

    @ Melissa

I wouldn’t get too excited about Greys, considering it had literally no competition and still dipped in ratings,

  • ars041

Looks like Glee is the best thing for Thursday nights after idol considering raising hope can’t even get close to Glee’s ratings. Glee consistently pulls out in the 2.0-2.2 range after idol. Hope could only get a 1.3.

  • Jared

Happy to see that atleast BatB remains steady. If these ratings hold up after the hiatus I dont see why the CW would cancel this series.

  • Fred

In regards to Idol, has there ever been in a show that declined as rapidly and sharply?
