Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for CBS (NCAA Basketball tournament) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

CBS and ABC tied for number 1 in adults 18-49 while FOX won with Total Viewers.

NOTE: Versus last week, A18-49 usage was down -7% from 8-10p and -8% in the 8-9pm hour  last night.

On FOX,  American Idol scored a 2.7, down two tenths from last week's 2.9 adults 18-49 rating. This is the lowest Adults 18-49 rating ever for any Idol, any night. A one-hour Raising Hope earned a 1.3 from 9-10PM. Two half hour episodes earned a 1.4 at 9PM and a 1.2 at 9:30PM. Both are down from its last original's 1.5, which aired a month ago.

On ABC, Wife Swap garnered a 1.4, down three tenths from last week's 1.7 adults 18-49 rating.  Grey's Anatomy earned a 2.8, down two tenths from last week's 3.0 adults 18-49 rating. Scandal earned a 2.6, down a single tenth from last week's 2.7 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS, the NCAA Tournament earned a preliminary 2.3  adults 18-49 rating from 8-11PM, but as noted are likely to be adjusted in the final ratings, and only cover the primetime portion of the telecasts.

On NBC, two episodes of 1600 Penn scored a series lows 0.7 at both 8:30 and 9:30, both down from last week's 0.9 adults 18-49 rating.

On The CW, The Vampire Diaries earned a 1.2, down a single tenth from last week's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.  Beauty and the Beast was even with last week's 0.6 adults 18-49 rating.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Fox also made a mistake by airing that first episode of Raising Hope. Anyone who might have watched it for the first time would have been turned off by the “Jewish” musical episode.

  • Jayzel

American Idol is getting ratings on par with The Bachelor. Bye bye. It was nice knowing thee, but it’s a sinking ship now. I knew FOX would destroy it the minute I first heard their plans for The X Factor. Greed and overkill. Fox is as doomed as NBC now

  • Jaime04

Not surprised on Raising Hope. That was the worse episode!! I shut it off when they started singing

  • DonMedia

NBC continues to flounder. If not for networks like SyFy and USA, they’d be out of business.

  • omabin

I think the ABC power block still did okay considering how everything was down. TVD also going strong for the cw and the beast show signs of life, although we have to wait and see if it adjusts down. They may get that 13 eps on friday after all, we’ll see.

Idol is getting really low now. And it was up against nothing at all in the hour, even freaking NBC was reruns. Next week, I think there is a chance that is beaten by Scandal, Grey’s, TBBT, Two and a Half Men and POI. That would be really embarrassing.

  • BigBrotherFan

The last two episodes of SCANDAL have kinda sucked. Shonda needs to get back on course here and I’m sick of this client of the week format..No..make the client 2 or 3 episodes atleast..I’d care..I knew *spoiler* the daughter did that to herself the second it happend..last nights episode was totally predictable!

1600 is just laughable and not in a good way…pathetic nbc pathetic this is a show you have every excuse to pull and not even show the unaired episodes because it’s just AWFUL! That son ruins it all the way!

BATB losing 50% of VD lead…Nice :s it might get adjusted down, too! sure a lock..sure..

  • Greg

It’s embarrassing how American Idol just can’t stabilize. At this point, New Girl, The Following and Family Guy will rate better than AI by the end of the season.

Disastrous ratings for Raising Hope. Looks like FOX will have to stick with Tuesdays as their day for a comedy block.

  • joel

To use one AI’s favorite cliches, that show is now too pageanty.

  • s0303

yikes at raising hope…this makes me feel a little better about the mindy projects 1.5 this week :)

still not sure about batb, could go either way…hopefully it will be renewed…

  • Tony JJ

Greys and Scandal were both INSANE crazy last night. That was the first time I’ve watched Greys in a long time and it was great. Next week looks good too.

Now scandal! Wow!!! What an amazing episode. Should go up next week as the promo for it looks like something huge Is gonna happen!!

  • Samunto

Idol is on it’s last legs. Really really low. Who wants to blame The Voice? Hands up!
    #voicepremiere #teamshakira

  • BigBrotherFan

Wow you guys really have it out for MINAJ her judgings are good compared to the other 3.

  • Billy

What do you know ? Another fresh airing and another series low for Idol. American Idol haters have to love that.

  • bluejay72

    R.I.P. Idol!

Go THE VOICE even though I badly miss Christina’s great voice. I love Shakira, too!
See you next season, Christina Aguilera!
    Miss yah!!!

  • Samunto

    Oh snap! CW beat NBC!

  • Dan S

I won’t shed any tears when AI eventually ends. Maybe then Fox can get back to programming some quality scripted shows. Too bad about RH tanking in the season finale but at least it’s been renewed for next fall. I’m guessing the ratings drop has a lot to do with Holy Thurs activitities & today being Good Friday the ratings tonight won’t be pretty in the morning.

  • feinn

Nbc in 6th place lol…bad ratings all around

Well all shows are down for spring break and Easter weekend. I will say look for big idol changes next season for the show. It’s finally declined. I expect nicki and Mariah to be gone next season. The ratings in Demos are hitting x factor ratings.

  • kbmv

Idol skews old. 2.7 with 11 million viewers isn’t good.

  • Carl

I stopped watching Idol a few years after they started becoming so freaked out after Taylor Hicks won, but since so many others kept going, I wasn’t sure if it would ever end. The fall this season seems very sharp and steep.
