With NCAA Basketball on the night, ABC defeated NBC by 30% and Fox by 86%.   Shark Tank was Friday’s #1 TV series with key adults and 20/20 was Friday’s top-rated newsmagazine in Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.

From 8-830pm, the Friday premiere of ABC’s Happy Endings defeated NBC’s Fashion Star by 7% in Total Viewers and by 29% in Adults 18-49.

At 9pm, ABC’s Shark Tank ranked as Friday’s #1 series in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, standing as the night’s top program in the key adult demo for the 3rd time in its last 4 original telecasts.  Shark Tank outpaced NBC’s original Grimm by +31% in Adults 18-49, while more than tripling the performance of Fox’s first-run Touch (+240%).

In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s 20/20 outdelivered NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams by 1.7 million viewers, by 75% in Adults 18-49 and by 82% and Adults 25-54.  20/20 has beaten Rock Center in all 8 head-to-head matchups in both key demos and in 7 of 8 in Total Viewers.  20/20 reported on incredible tales of real relationships gone awry with “The Ultimate Betrayal.”  Retaining nearly all of its week-ago audience (+95%), 20/20 drew its 2nd most-watched telecast since December (12/14/12) and 3rd most-watched overall this season.

And this proves that ABC can spin anything.

Hey Dan, do you know how PR works? Just like this.

  • JR35

Not much to say about “Happy Endings” there- what ABC did say was correct, at least. :)

  • Gene

I’m sorry but why do they even compare 20/20 and Rock Center? 20/20 reported on “real relationships gone awry”, while Rock Center was talking about tax fraud. Of course 20/20 did better because it’s not really a newsmagazine.

20/20 and Rock Center were compared because they are on at the same time. Do you feel like you have to defend Brian Williams on every article? Sounds like someone has a man crush….
