Oh so nice to see Richard(now posting as Mike) continuing his hate on the GH.

  • jonboyelk

@Mike I was too young to remember it all but I think Audrey was on trial for the murder of Tom Baldwin. She wasn’t always so squeaky clean. She was trying to pass her son Tommy off as another man’s baby I think. All I know is that the trial gave the show huge ratings at the time. Lucille Weeks was a piss, as was Sharon Pinkum. They were always running into the medicine room to gossip. Do you remember Jane and Howie Dawson? Would have been cool to see them again. It would be awesome if ABC put out a box set of that first year. But that won’t happen.

  • Mike

Yes I remember Jane and Howie. I would love to see box sets of the early years too, but if we ever see box sets of GH I would figure it would be from the Luke and Laura years. Those were good but to me the shows I would love to see most are the early ones and 70s.

As to Audrey, GH always had great very complex female characters.

So happy to see that Y&R has worked out a deal to be on TVGN. That is great. I knew that I had read SoapNet was just burning out contracts with their current contracts.

Not sure how much longer those contracts are for but losing Y&R will definitely hurt SoapNet for whatever time it has left.

  • Jack

    GH in the basement, LOL!!!

  • David

GH is no in the basement. Total viewers are not great but is number 1 in the 18-34 demo a 45% increase from one year ago. They are also doing well in the 18-49. Just because they are down in total viewers as so many on here have stated many times, the key demos are what matters.

Kim Drummer the new president of ABC daytime has said she sees a bright future of GH and is very happy with its performance. She was also a fan growing up which helps.

Will be interesting to see the next couple weeks worth of ratings with the 50th anniversary ratings which will not be out until next week this Friday we will get last weeks. Then the nurses ball as well.

  • jonboyelk

@Mike what the heck is tvgn?

  • Mike

    TV Guide Network

CBS has bought it now or bought into it. There are stories siting both.

They are going to be the exclusive cable outlet for Y&R beginning this summer.

this is a good thing for Y&R as even when SoapNet was widely carried, TVGN was still in more homes and is definitely in more now.

I just hope CBS will work out a deal for B&B too.

young and the restless lost me when jill the jack ass took over she killed gh thank good frank and ron are there now to clean up her mess y and r can have jill and steve burton we don’t need either at gh.

  • moshane58

Read three different article in the last week that Gh was well over 3million and come on here and totally different story.Who’s right and who’s wrong?Getting confusing.

  • David

TVGN is in a lot of homes but wonder how many people actually watch that station. I didn’t even know it was still on my cable system other than video on demand but they do have the station itself.

@moshane even ABC’s daytime president has quoted that 3 million number I know GH has improved and hit that number on some days but not getting it on a regular basis yet. For that I am not sure.

I do know they have increaded 45% in the 18-34 female demo which was quoted by ABC Daytime President and is fact. They are number one in that demo.

ABC Is very behind the show right now which is a positive. With Frons gone and someone who was a fan of GH in charge of daytime they will stick with it unless the ratings start to hit rock bottom.

  • Scott_N_ATL

HAPPY ANNIV GH! 50 years and stronger than ever!

Next ratings will be big….Nurse’s Ball and insane returns!

  • jonboyelk

@David True, I never heard of it. Will have to check out my cable guide to see if I have it. @Robert I can’t answer for Jills reign at GH since I didn’t watch it then…but I’m so far happy with her producing Y&R.

  • jonboyelk

BTW I actually watched like 10 minutes of DOOL one day, which is certainly not enough to critique a show, but I saw an actress who was on Y&R many moons ago. She was blackmailing Jack and Jill with compromising photos. Her real first name is Lauren. She looks great after all these years!

  • Mike

    Jon Boy,

From the reports, CBS has either bought into or bought fully the former TV Guide Network. Soon all the carriers of it will even do away with the guide on it. I read yesterday that 90% of carriers have already done away with the guide. They are going to rebrand the station and turn it more into a FX/USA type station to offer alternate airings of CBS programs as well as original programming.

I watch it some but not much esp. since they did drop the guide off the bottom. It does have an On Demand offering and my wife and I watch Weeds from it via On Demand.

  • Kevin A.

GH is down because Todd, Starr, and John McBain are off the canvas right now. Also, frantic Lucy is super boring and annoying compared to paranoid, delusional Lucy. I’ll take her cuckoo over vampires, rather than planning the nurses ball. And WHERE THE HELL IS ROBIN?! Why is she not back in Port Charles already?

Y&R is AMAZING!!! Can’t get enough. I mean, this is the definition of TOP NOTCH DAYTIME DRAMA. Every scene, every character, so much romance and drama. I’m moved to tears by so many actors: Christian Leblanc, Michelle Stafford, Sharon Case, Jeanne Cooper, and Melissa Claire Egan, just to name a few.

B&B lost me when Brooke and Bill got close. I’m also tired of Hope/Liam/Steffy.

    KUDOS TO Y&R and DAYS!!!!

  • Pinevalleylover

@jennifer when you say that NBC is more faithful to Days than ABC is to GH that’s not true. In a recent interview Vicki Dummer the president of ABC daytime said that GH has a special place in her heart so i do not agree that NBC cares more for days than ABC does with GH i think both networks are hoping nothing but the best for both shows! I believe the statement Vicki Dummer said can be found at soapoperanetwork.com

  • David

Sorry Kevin but Todd, Starr, and Mcbain are not the reason Gh’s ratings were up. They were up thehighest during stories featuring Anna, Robert and Robin. They were up during other things but had nothing to do with the OLTL three. The only former OLTL people responsible for anything imroving the ratings would be Frank and Ron

  • Mike

I am really shocked that the only press release this week in daytime was for The Talk. At least so far I have not seen any posted.

I thought sure ABC would be posting and spinning GH or their lineup for more publicity at least.

I hope that with CBS not releasing one for Y&R or B&B that they went down. I was hoping they would hold on to the gains or at least part of them.

  • David

GH has had a ton of publicity this week. They were on Katie, they were on The View, and they were on Good Morning America this morning. Not to mention numerous other media attention. Also during ABC’s Sunday night prime time programming of Once Upon A Time, Revenge, and Red Widow for the first time in I dont know how long there were actually ads for GH in prime time.

And wow just got done watching todays episode which was the start of the nurses ball. Words cannot describe how great this was. I cannot wait to see the nurses ball continue on Monday. What a fantastic job GH has done with this.
