This is a special short week version of the post. The table above includes news and ratings through Wednesday, March 27. only.

No changed predictions from the Cancellation Bear this week (although the bear has his eye on Body Of Proof for next week), he's soaking up the sun, but it's your chance to be the bear.

Which ABC show(s) not currently renewed or canceled would you devour? (Vote for as many shows, as many times as you want. As are all internet polls, this is meaningless.)

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, the "old" Fall predictions will carry over.

Want to know what the ABC Renew/Cancel Index table looked like at the end of the Fall season? Click here.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    @Frodo

It is doing better than Revenge in the ratings at the minute. Revenge is in a better position and i know that. But earlier you said that revenge was doing better in the ratings than Body of Proof and i had to disagree on this.

ABC seems to be partial to Nashville so they will not cancel it. Malibu Country needs to stick around as it is more family oriented and we need shows like that.

  • A L Fields

Personally, I would cancel a lot of those shows, but what follows is usually worse. Grey’s Anatomy is not going anywhere, neither is Nashville and I hope Malibu Country makes a second season.

  • Regina Taylor

Nashville is terrible and the main actress is not so hot either. If ABC has a brain, it will cancel that show and leave the Friday night comedies, LMS and MC where they are.Do not care for LMS but it is better than Nashville.

  • FringeFan

    ABC

    Cancel –
Happy Endings ~ Ratings are absolutely horrendous & continue to decline
    Red Widow ~ Premiered DOA
Nashville ~ The first half of the season had good ratings, but they continue to slide even with a semi-decent lead-in.

    Renew –
    Grey’s Anatomy
    The Neighbors
Body of Proof – Renew for a 13-episode Mid-season for Friday nights @ 9 PM
    Last Man Standing
    Scandal
    Malibu Country
    The Middle
    Castle
    Surburgatory
    Revenge
    Once Upon A Time
    Modern Family

  • Dragonsi

Can you tell me if they are going to air any of the other Zero Hour episodes that are already produced and ready to air, yet? I really liked that show and sometimes they “burn off” and show the remaining episodes, sometimes they stop at the last cancelled episode only.

I also watch Malibu Country, Last Man Standing, Happy Endings, Suburgatory, Once Upon a Time, Scandal, Revenge and Castle.

  • Cyrax86

Red Widow, fortunately ABC will take care of that!

  • Grace

Kindly keep your mitts off Body of Proof. It’s bad enough they made major (and unwanted) cast changes, they made us wait ages for new episodes. Dana Delaney is fabulous and the writing is excellent. Love the show.

  • Richard Steven Hack

Body of Proof should probably be canceled. The odds of it regaining its 2.0 from last season are probably slim, although it did jump significantly last episode. It’s nowhere close enough to syndication to use that as a justification. If it holds 1.5 or above, it possibly could be considered a spring show for another season, but I doubt it will hold the same rating next season.

Revenge is unlikely to be canceled unless its ratings absolutely collapse over the four remaining episode.

  • starship

They’re cancelling Red Widow and (sadly) Happy Endings. It’s a bit too early to call the rest, but I think they should cancel Malibu County, Body of Proof, and Nashville as well (and no, I’ve never watched even a second of either of those, so not being a hater, just looking at their respective ratings).

  • Marc

Body of Proof has jumped the shark. The last few episodes are still on the DVR but haven’t convinced myself to watch the “Possession” or later episodes yet. It’s #s are rising though, so will need to see how it plays out. If it manages 1.8+ by for the rest of season I would keep it but not wait until January to run it.

Happy Endings and Red Widow are goners (Haven’t watched Widow, but not impressed with the premiering decision or name title). Happy Endings just way to niche and desperate in attempts to be random/funny.

The HE move to Fridays shows how strong the LMS/MC/ST combo was. ABC was winning almost every Friday night until Happy Endings replaced the first hour. Both should be renewed for full seasons.

I originally argued for a full 2 hour TGIF block, but the network would HAVE to get shows with instant similar appeal for that to work. I do not think Neighbors/Suburgatory would translate to Fridays well. They would need a family friendly big name like they have with Reba/Tim Allen (Is Cosby available?) or a show like Girl Meets World to make a 2 hour Friday work.

I think only Suburgatory or Neighbors will survive, depending on how Suburgatory does at 8:30. The final Wed slot will be reserved for either a new comedy or Live with Parents if it does well.

  • d

    @Jonay it’s lead in isn’t big.

  • C.S.Strowbridge

Right now more people would cancel Modern Family than Castle. Anyone who would cancel Modern Family doesn’t know how TV works.

Also, I think Nashville is safe, because it is selling CDs. That extra revenue stream isn’t represented in the ratings and gives it a mild boost.

  • Annie Orhan

lol, what a suprise revenge haters are out in force on this poll *rollseyes*

Time to find a new site this site is getting so old…..

  • PARIS

VOTING ON SCANDAL WILL NOT RENEW REVENGE, REVENGERS
    MOVE ON
SCANDAL IS THE GREATEST HIT ON ABC

  • joel

ABC attracts the contingent of biggest psychos to this site.

  • Peggy Sims

I believe ABC had a winning combo on Fridays with MCountry and LMStanding and even tho the ratings jumped up and down, they had a good thing going on Friday night. I hope the shows are not cancelled and continue for a long time.

  • frodo

Just ignore them, let them keep voting for Revenge its not going anywhere anytime soon. Most likely the geniuses at ABC will move Scandal to Sunday at 9 PM and it will fall just like Revenge has. Karma is a bitc#.

  • glover

There is something wrong with the poll?

  • frodo

The only shows to be canceled are Red WIndow and unfortunately Happy Endings(will possibly move to a different channel).

Body of Proof is on the bubble but if it keeps on going up it will get renewed as well.

The rest of the shows are all safe.
