This is a special short week version of the post. The table above includes news and ratings through Wednesday, March 27. only.

No changed predictions from the Cancellation Bear this week (although the bear has his eye on Body Of Proof for next week), he's soaking up the sun, but it's your chance to be the bear.

Which ABC show(s) not currently renewed or canceled would you devour? (Vote for as many shows, as many times as you want. As are all internet polls, this is meaningless.)

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, the "old" Fall predictions will carry over.

Want to know what the ABC Renew/Cancel Index table looked like at the end of the Fall season? Click here.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    @One

You are still bitter about Last Resort I see. I still give Lee props for airing all the episodes, so the audience got an ending at least. Hell the fact that ABC had the guts to air that show gives me hope for ABC because Lee knows what he is doing at least in terms of getting good dramas on the network.

  • Jeff

I agree with people saying to keep DWTS Monday Tuesday Nights as ABC would need to get two new judges for DWTS if its moved to Sundays As 2 judges do work the fall season on both shows. I cannot see the UK Version moving off saturdays nights and sunday is a travel day for the judges so moving it to any other night would not work and ABC is not gonna cancel it. I think moving castle would be smart move but i would move it to Wednesdays at 10 PM to create a competitive night and be able to Launch 2 new comedies behind it. So I thinks this should be the schedule.

    Mondays
    8:00-10:00 DWTS/The Bachelor/DWTS
    10:00-11:00New Drama

With Tuesday night 9PM comedy fails use the 8pm slot for DWTS in January place splash in the dwts as filler since that reality show seems to be working and launch a new drama at 9PM and Place Revenge at 10PM to successfully launch the 9PM Drama

    Tuesday
    8:00-9:00 DWTS Results/Splash/DWTS Results
    9:00-10:00 New Drama
    10:00-11:00 Revenge

With Wednesdays keep the 8-10 Block single camera comedies. Launch 2 new comedies and order a 13 episode season of suburgatory incase one of the comedies flop if the new show does not flop try suburgatory out as a summer series as no broadcast network have recently done comedy in the summer and think it could work wednesdays in the summer 8-9 Block of new comedies and ABC has been pushing to launch summer scripted shows the last few years. Place castle in the 10PM Block in order to succeed with the 9:30PM Comedy

    Wednesdays
    8:00 The middle
    8:30 New single camera comedy
    9:00 Modern Family
    9:30 New Single Camera Comedy
    10:00 Castle

For Thursday I would put shark tank in the 8PM slot to better compete with the X-Factor and Big Bang Theory. I did not put DWTS results there because i can’t see that working with DWTS Airing performance show Monday part of the hype with shows like DWTS, X-Factor, The Voice and American Idol is getting the results the next night while the performances are still fresh and buzz worthy by Thursdays in the Fall with Voice Monday and Tuesdays and X-Factor Wednesday and THrusdays that would only kill DWTS airing both nights 2 days apart and i cant see how the couples will learn new dances in that less time then the show currently gives. Keep Greys in the 9PM Slot for a 13 episode final season and a new drama airing midseason with Scandal Anchoring the 10PM Slot

    Thursdays
    8:00 Shark Tank
    9:00 Greys/New Drama
    10:00 Scandal

Fridays 8:00-10:00 should be TGIF Multi camera comedy night since comedies did not work Tuesday nights this Year and fridays work build the fridays to a 2hr Block. 10PM keep for 20/20

    8:00 Last Man Standing
    8:30 New Multi-camera Comedy
    9:00 Malibu Country
    9:30 New Multi Camera Comedy
    10:00 20/20

For Sundays keep Once Upon a Time at 8PM use the 9PM Slot to launch new drama and place Nashville and Body of Proof there for 13 episodes to see how they do there. With the 10PM Block I would test existing shows their because the last 2 years new shows in that time failed.

    Sundays
    8:00 Once Upon A Time
    9:00 New Drama
    10:00 Nashville/Body of Proof

  • Rollie Dethloff

    2013-2014

    Sunday
    7:00 Shark Tank (18)/Splash (10)
    8:00 Once: Wonderland (13-22)
    9:00 DWTS/The Bachelor

AFV needs to get off Sundays. Shark Tank and Splash should be good replacements. Once’s spinoff should benefit from the original’s slot. 9-11 goes to the two shows that get overhyped.

    Monday
    8:00 DWTS Results/The Taste (8)/DWTS Results
    9:00 S.H.I.E.L.D (13-22)
    10:00 Castle (22)

Clearing Monday of it’s 8-10 stranglehold on reality gives a chance to Castle to see how it would work with a drama lead-in. Put The Taste in between DWTS cycles.

    Tuesday
    8:00 Suburgatory (22)
8:30 How The Hell Am I Normal? (13)/How To Live With Your Parents (16)
    9:00 Nashville (22)
    10:00 Revenge (18)/Body Of Proof (10)

The 8:00 hour works better for comedies. Both 8:30 comedies will benefit from Suburgatory. Nashville and Revenge/Body Of Proof will do well too I think.

    Wednesday
    8:00 Malibu Country (22)
    8:30 Bad Management (13-22)
    9:00 The Middle (22)
    9:30 The Neighbors (18)/King John (10)
    10:00 Scandal (22)

A major shake-up for the comedy bock, booting Modern Family, and moving The Middle to 9. Meanwhile, Malibu Country comes over from Fridays, and The Neighbors moves to 9:30. Scandal moves one night back.

    Thursday
    8:00 Grey’s Anatomy (22)
    9:00 Big Thunder (13-22)
    10:00 20/20

Grey’s moves back an hour, and gives Big Thunder a lead-in. 20/20 moves back one night.

    Friday
    8:00 Last Man Standing (22)
    8:30 Modern Family (22)
    9:00 AFV (10)/Winter Wipeout (8)/AFV (12)
    10:00 Once Upon A Time (22)

LMS and Modern Family would be a powerhouse on Fridays. AFV does timeshare with Winter Wipeout, and Once gets a new night and time.

  • Jeff

@Rolle DWTS will not move off monday night for the sole reason of the Judges having to commute back and forth from London to Los Angeles to Judge both the UK and US versions in the fall season and since ABC co-owns the Series with BBC. I can guarantee DWTS would be monday and tuesdays. I cant see ABC taking a chance on Sundays that the judges wont make it back to LA in time for the show delays can happen when flying not to mention the length of the flight. So DWTS depends on the night the UK Version Airs. I actually see ABC Launching the OUAT spin off after OUAT on Sundays to be honest that would defiantly keep retention between both shows. 20/20 always airs Friday at 10PM so with ABC 10PM Fridays whats not broken shouldnt be fix and OUAT would do better sundays then Fridays

  • rob60990

That schedule is a HOT MESS.

  • Blythe

NOT RED WIDOW!!!! That show is just warming up and has so much room to move! I am loving it! I watch 3 shows on ABC and I will be highly upset if I lose one of them!

  • Scott

I wish Celebrity Wife Swap/Wife Swap, The Taste, Splash, and Shark Tank were canceled.

  • were123

To all the people who said Happy Endings wouldn’t be picked up by a cable network (such as TBS), check this out! USA is considering pick it up if it is cancelled by ABC.
    #HappyEndingsSaved

  • Pinkle

    Attention Happy Endings fans:

Deadline is reporting that USA has taken interest in picking up the show.

This show may defy the odds yet again.

  • Reid

As long as Castle stays for at least 100 more eps I’ll be a very happy man… I could care less about any of the other shows.

  • Anne

Revenge is one of my favourite shows….please don’t cancel. Great story, great nighttime soap….really fun and suspenseful. Also, I enjoy Red Widow… the story could be stronger, but the cast is amazing. I love Radha Mitchell, and Rade Serbedjia (sp?) and it is wonderful to see Goran Visnjic back on television. He plays his part so well, and I never thought of him as a villain.

  • Steve

    HAPPY ENDINGS?

I just read on here that both NBC and USA are interested in Endings if ABC cancels it (which it will) so I’m hopeful. Season 4 means $yndication and since TBS already picked up and renewed Cougar Town for next year, I would not be surprised at all for TBS to also pick up Happy Endings. Cougar has been a ratings juggernaut for TBS (hence the renewal for Season 5) and I think a lot of viewers that watched Cougar watch HE so why not pair them together???

The only shows I watch on ABC are Happy Endings, Middle, Modern Family and
Suburgatory. If two if these 4 shows get canceled I will be watching ABC 50% less.

  • Em J

Well I am glad Castle is on the bottom of the poll! Like some people have said it is so frustrating that ABC has yet to give out a early renewal thing it’s frustrating for me because I have doubts about my shows getting renewed even if they are 2 with 5 smiley faces (Castle and OUAT YES I KNOW I just have doubts)

  • Paul

I love them all could not pick one to vote for on abc!!

  • Ravenne

I think Red Widow has picked up its game. Started slow, but it’s been steadily improving with each episode. I was hoping the show might do better. Be a shame for it to be cancelled just when things are starting to really get interesting for Marta.

  • CBSviewer

    Thoughts ?

  • JacobYates

    @CBSviewer

Not bad, but it needs a few adjustments.

    1) Swap How the Hell Am I Normal? with Suburgatory. That way Modern Family can launch HTHAIN?.
    2) Put LMS in the leadoff for Friday and cancel Malibu Country. Put Neighbors after LMS.
    3) After Neighbors, air Shark Tank and save Bad Management for midseason.
    4) Move Grey’s back to 8pm on Thursday and put Big Thunder at 9pm.

  • JacobYates

    @Rollie Dethloff

That is one of the worst schedules I have ever seen! And I’ve seen a few doozies. Here’s what’s wrong with it:

    1) OUAT and Revenge should stay on Sundays.
    2) Shark Tank and 20/20 should stay on Fridays.
    3) Malibu Country could never launch Wednesday night! It’ll be lucky to get renewed on a Friday!
    4) Middle should launch Wednesdays like it always has and Modern Family should stay at 9pm Wednesday.
    5) Neighbors should move to Friday and take Malibu’s spot.
    6) Suburgatory should stay at 9:30.
    7) OUAT spinoff will be after OUAT. Revenge can go to Sundays at 10pm since the syndication gods will protect it.
    8) Splash will be cancelled.
    9) Nashville and BOP held for midseason. Or cancelled. We’ll have to see how the next few weeks go.
    10) Scandal goes back to the 10pm Thursday slot.

This schedule was such a hot steaming TURD that if I look at it one more time I will be forced to press down on the razor against my throat.

  • aciel

    @jacob Yates
r u kidding me why would abc move revenge to sundays at 10? thats like one of the worst timeslots so far all of the shows that were in that slot were cancelled and on top of an ouat spinoff as a lead in for revenge? revenge would be dead
