DISCOVERY CHANNEL HAS BEST FIRST QUARTER EVER FOR

MEN 18+ AND MEN 25-54 DELIVERY

(Silver Spring, MD) Powered by strong series and new hits, Discovery Channel had its best First Quarter ever among Men 25-54 and Men 18+ delivery besting the previous record-holder of 1Q 2004. In addition, 1Q13 produced the best Fridays in network history in P/M 18+ and P/M/W 25-54 delivery with premieres of Gold Rush (#1), BERING SEA GOLD (#2) and YUKON MEN (#3) as the Top-3 ad-supported cable programs on Friday nights (excluding sports).

 

Gold Rush completed first quarter as television’s #1 show on 1Q13 Friday nights, beating out all broadcast and cable programs among Men 25-54/18-49 delivery (excludes sports). It was also the #1 ad-supported cable program on 1Q13 Friday nights among HH, P2+, P/M/W25-54, P/M/W18-49 and P/M18-34 delivery (excluding sports). This pushed Discovery to be the #1 network in all of television on Friday nights in 1Q13 among M18-49 delivery beating all cable networks as well as broadcast networks including ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX.

 

Premieres of FAST N’ LOUD and Moonshiners finished in the Top 3 among Men 18-49 and Men 25-54 delivery (excluding sports) on their respective nights and pushing Discovery 1Q13 Prime +7% among M25-54 delivery vs. 1Q12. Additionally, premieres of AMISH MAFIA finished as the #2 1Q13 Wednesday night cable program among P/W25-54 and W18-49 delivery (excluding sports).

 

Additionally, 1Q13 saw Prime Time double digit increases in key demos, including up +10% among P25-54 delivery and up +16% in W25-54. Other increases included up +4% in Total Viewers P2+ and up +7% in Men 25-54, vs. the same period last year.
