Happy Endings fans, this is amahzing news. If ABC cancels Happy Endings, which is probable given the show's poor performance this season, USA might pick it up. Deadline reports that Sony, which regular readers of this site know will do whatever it takes to get its programs to syndication, has been shopping the show to cable channels. USA, which plans to start producing half hour series, thinks Happy Endings would be a good fit for the channel and is currently in discussions with Sony.  More details as they become available.

I think this show will get moved to a cable network whether it’s USA, TBS, or FXX. USA would be a nice move as they will start to air Modern Family reruns and they used to be paired together on ABC. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

“Maybe we’ll get the headline FXX is eyeing Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt 23 next. ”

lol!!! but in all seriousness Apt. 23 should’ve been on a cable network or a premium cable channel as it would given the writers much broader material for the “B!tch”, the nudity and the swearing that could have been in the show. It probably would’ve rated decently and would’ve found a nice niche audience. but all this is a moot point now. lol

    @Tony JJ,

I think Apt 23 is a good fit for the comedy style Netflix seems to be going for. I would actually watch it then too.

THIS IS THE BEST NEWS OF MY DAY.
this makes me sound pitiful, I do note that. I stand by my above bolded comment, though.

I don’t want to get excited just to find out USA or any other network fails to pick it up when it inevitably gets cancelled by ABC. Hopefully USA does indeed pick it up, or a different station if USA doesn’t, or else I will be pretty mad that they announce they’re interested in picking it up and they never do.

Once it is official, than I will get excited!

Apt23 deserves to be saved, ABC can do great comedies and it’s a shame to see how many good shows get axed every year because they were in the wrong network at the wrong time.

The best comedy on television in decades that hardly anyone watches! Everything Friends should have been didn’t come close. New Girl is a very, very lame and pale imitation of Happy Endings. It would be great if ABC gave this show a reprieve–again–and slotted it better next season but I’ll settle for a move to cable vs cancellation completely.

If sony makes it cheap enouth…you know they will…mf block leading into it and a new sitcom has a better chance of working for usa if they are back on the sitcom wagon….usa use to be king of low budget cable sitcoms back in the day…they had that talking dog detective show…weird s
    cience…duckman

This is GREAT news but I never really hold much faith in these sort of things. Sometimes it’s all talk, actually MOST of the time it is but given the recent fates of THE KILLING and COUGAR TOWN i’m more inclined to be optimistic about this.

Happy Endings is my top comedy next to maybe THE MINDY PROJECT and I dabble in GO ON, Parks and Rec and against my better judgement THE NEW NORMAL (in hopes it would of got better) from time to time, but this is the only comedy show I will not miss. The cast has some of the best chemistry of any show out there.

I have a questions, please excuse me for not knowing-

So let’s say USA picks this up does that mean ABC loses ANY right to Syndication deals and it goes straight to USA? I mean, sounds kinda weird given that it’s made in part by ABC, right? Wouldn’t that make ABC more inclined to keep it around knowing there is a buyer at the table to sweep up those syndication rights?

If Happy Endings is picked up i will watch any show on USA and stop watching new ABC shows all together (SHIELD PILOT IS AN EXCEPTION).

Cable to the rescue once again

  • American

Congratulations, Happy Endings lovers! If only more cancelled shows had this chance…

  • gerry

awesome for HE fans. i wish Apt 23 had been a bit further in so this might have been an option as well.

    Characters unite! USA, love you!

I have to say, Cougartown moving to TBS hooked me into watching more shows from their network. And since I am watching nothing from USA right now, I can see getting sucked into 1-2 of their dramas if I keeps seeing their commercials during Happy Endings.

I like this show and I’m happy for them but I think Apartment 23 should be picked up by cable too. It would fit into cable very nicely and it would be nice to watch. It is definitely the funniest show on TV and deserves a chance to prove itself. Maybe Comedy Central or something may want it. Is it fully owned by ABC?

As for Happy Endings, I’m happy that I (may) get to see more Penny and Brad :). They are by far the funniest on the show ;)

Please don’t. These actor are to good for the writing on this show. The writers think they’re to cute by half. Set the actors free to go on and do better shows.
