  • In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 Wednesday results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4.
  • From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET Wednesday night, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Whatever. I’m just basking in the TNN ratings glory for the day, which I knew would happen, even though all kinds of commenters on other posts were predicting it would’ve rise above like a 1.4 lol.

The real “crazies” are those with a hard-on and deathwish for TNN. It’s like they have the opposite of rose-tinted glasses on and only want to look at all the bad and ignore any good points about TNN’s prospects for renewal.

It’s just ridiculous to say that a sitcom with a 1.9 on NBC is “certain” to be cancelled. And take the name “The New Normal” out of the equation and everyone here would agree with me. Just for some reason everyone wants to be so sure it will be cancelled and dismiss these great ratings for an NBC sitcom.

I’ll give you that TNN sank in-between Voice seasons. But NBC’s sitcom situation is terrible. And Go On sank too, and it’s still at toss-up, and now its been proven that TNN can do just as well as Go On in the same time slot. And when TNN and Go On were sinking, they were given BETTY FREAKING WHITE as a lead-in! Is that any way to treat freshmen shows you want to nurture? No, and NBC knows that’s why their ratings sank.

You are all acting like TNN can only do good after the Voice. How about the fact that it’s been paired with Go On all season which obviously is not the best pairing, and both of them after Betty White for weeks which is obviously not the best pairing. Maybe if they scheduled a bit different next year and retooled a bit TNN and Go On could rise in ratings separate from the Voice, and NBC knows it.

I’m not saying TNN will definitely get renewed. But it’s at least a toss-up for renewal, not “certain” to be cancelled as all these crazies are saying.

I think TNN is more of an 8/8:30 show. While it could certainly take advantage of J Fox lead-in (why are we all assuming this series will be successful, anyway?) I’m sure it can perform better at an earlier time. 8.30/9 would be better. And I’m with the swap thing. TNN after The Voice would’ve been a biggest hit than Go On.

  • gerry

    hahahahaha @ nene leakes

honestly, nene is the best part of this show. if they cancel TNN, can someone sign her to her own deal please?

  • Grey

It will be interesting to see what numbers “Vegas” pulls in this Friday. I really hope they’re better than “Golden Boy.”

  • Ultima

    @Tommy Mickens
Obviously, I was talking about the 9:00 episode

So you’re bragging that the show has a big lead-in? So many people watching the show before mine stuck around for a few minutes, that it almost made my show #1 in the half hour!

  • solelle

I thought Smash was pretty much cancelled at this point. So does the raitings matter if the network has already written it off?

  • Mark

The “Im gay and I think TNN sucks” comments are on the same line as “I’m gay and I don’t want gay marriage”. Please. Don’t pretend to be a gay to support your hate on TNN, because you’re not. And it’s pathetic everytime a comment like that pops-up next to a defensive “I’m no homophobe”. Hey, no one asked. Just say out loud that you don’t like TNN. But don’t make up stories. Thank you.

  • Adam

IF The New Normal gets renewed it seriously needs a writers swap and some new characters. It’s too centered on the couple in spite of the possibilities (Nene, Barkin, Hoffman…), and it’s too preachy. You may say it’s preachy because it’s season one. But hey, this is Murphy. He can be preachy in AHS…

  • solelle

@ Mark I am straight and I love TNN :)I was hooked when Goldie told the boys why she wanted to be a surrogate.

    @Tommy Mickens
You are all acting like TNN can only do good after the Voice.

No, we actually look at ratings and make educated observations.

Last four episodes of The New Normal prior to The Voice returning – 0.9, 1.0, 0.9, 0.7

Last three episodes after The Voice – 1.3, 1.9, 1.4

Do you seriously think they’re going to leave The New Normal behind The Voice next season? If not, guess which numbers advertisers are going to be willing to pay for.

  • PurpleDrazi

Man, The New Normal fans are just the craziest.

Apparently, you haven’t spent much time in the CW threads on this site.

  • Tommy Mickens

zth wrote: TNN will 100% be cancelled.
It will adjust down to 1.8 and 1.3, and it has a few ratings in the 0?s too, so CERTAIN CANCELLATION.

LOL, thanks for giving me a good laugh, 100% lol.

I agree it could adjust down. I wouldn’t even be surprised at 1.7 and 1.3. But even then, even if it were 1.6 and 1.2 (which would surprise me if its adjusted down that much), those are still great ratings for an NBC sitcom!

People just got to get it together on this site and use the common sense. I’m not saying TNN is a definite renewal, but I think it has a good chance and is at least a toss-up, and I think it’s more likely than not to be renewed, looking at how NBC scheduled its final shows (seeing that NBC wants to help the show) and, yes, looking at its overall numbers, for the ENTIRE season.

  • Ashley

Once CBS air new episodes, The Voice will not break into the 4s. I think last week’s episode was in the mid to upper 3s. That’s their comfort zone. Tuesday shows are never as good as Monday shows.

  • Marc

I like BOP, but not good enough. If you do worse than a Fri show with a solid lead in, it’s over.

Horrible for TNN. Not even a 33% retention form the end of 8 hour to end of 9, and they will prob adjust down to the 20s. Would have liked to see what Guys with Kids could have done but it never had a shot. It does seem NBC is fishing for an excuse to renew TNN.

  • bjssp

Wow, NBC has to be over the moon that The Voice is up. Flat in today’s environment is certainly solid, and down slightly is definitely understandable, but up? This has to make its ad sales department happy.

The rest of the night, however, needs a redo. I know there’s plenty of skepticism about my idea to trim down The Voice on Mondays, but there’s no reason NBC shouldn’t try new comedies–emphasis on new–here next season. And while there’s a good reason to place its crown jewel, its new Michael J. Fox show, on Thursdays, it makes far more sense to put it on Tuesdays. By itself, it would likely be a hit, but with The Voice behind it, it could be truly dominant. It’d be the biggest step NBC could take in one fell swoop to rebuild its entire line up.

As for its current Tuesday comedies, I’d say can ’em all. The shows are okay and I like the casts even more, but short of giving them shortened seasons as part of an insurance policy, better to start anew. Also, it’d be better for the network to focus on no more than four new comedies in the fall, partly because it will help with branding but also because ad spending can be more concentrated.

  • Ultima

    @Tommy Mickens
I think it’s more likely than not to be renewed, looking at how NBC scheduled its final shows

You mean the part where NBC replaced a repeat with an original and doubled up episodes so that it would finish the first week of April?

Like you said before, if you remove the name of the show, everyone would agree that is a very bad sign.

  • AA

WOW thats unexpected for new normal. Now it will definitely get a season 2…i expect a 13 episode order at first.

  • Joseph A

I watch ” Smash ” , but the writing is pretty horrible with far to many of the characters running off a cliff like a bunch of lemmings.
” The New Normal ” is better then Smash, but often find the story lines to be annoying. That said the cast is not bad ad it at least has enough possible potential for a 2nd season.
” Hells Kitchen ” is just plain horrible , especially if you enjoy watching shows where chefs show their craft. But ” Hell’s Kitchen ” is to cooking shows what ” American Idol ” is now to talent shows.
“The Voice” ,, LOVE THIS SHOW , I do not always like the judges choices when it comes to the battle rounds, but I do enjoy the discovery of talent in a supportive atmosphere.

no joke. TNN fans have nothing on beasties. LOL

i’ve come to like TNN alot and am hoping that a ryan murphy renewal miracle happens but i hardly think not liking the show is akin to hating on gay marriage.

i think some people’s issues stem from the fact that often the show is too heavy handed with its preachy ‘its ok to be gay’ and NOT FUNNY when its supposed to be a comedy (aside from nene who is ALWAYS awesome and shania most times). but there is funny in there. hopefully if it gets renewed the show will get a bit of a retool and it can be funny most of the time.
