Roughly a third of U.S. states today jail people for not paying off their debts, from court-related fines and fees to credit card and car loans, according to the American Civil Liberties Union. Such practices contravene a 1983 United States Supreme Court ruling that they violate the Constitutions’s Equal Protection Clause.

Economist Cited by WH Blames Obamacare for Jobs Numbers

Who is it ? None other than Mark Zandi, Moody’s chief economist, frequently cited by the White House in support of its economic proposals.

Zandi also rejected the idea that the sequester is dragging down the economy. “I don’t think the sequester is in here at all, I think it’s way too premature for the sequester,” he said.

Most Democrats now believe ObamaCare won’t help and may hurt them
    - -

Two-thirds of Democrats now believe Obama’s health care reforms will either hurt them personally or have no effect on their daily lives, a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows. In comparison, just 27 percent of Democratic respondents said the reforms would help them.

    As for the rest?

Just 3 percent of Republicans and 15 percent of independents believe the president’s overhaul will help them personally, the poll shows. Even worse for the White House, 68 percent of self-identified Republicans and more than a third of all independents said the reforms would hurt them personally.

Forbes had an article that I read today:

Fed Up With Obamacare, Doctors Increasingly Prefer Cash For Care

The story explores direct payment to doctors, with patients paying for care on their own.

“Nearly 7 percent of doctors say they are planning to change to some form of direct-pay care in the next three years, according to a survey of 13,000 doctors done for the Physicians Foundation. The consulting firm Accenture projects that one in three doctors in independent practice will adopt “subscription-based care models.

One direct payment model that’s growing in popularity is “concierge” care, whereby doctors charge a monthly or annual fee for care — and bypass the administrative headaches associated with insurance and government programs altogether. ”

This is really growing in my part of the woods. We are not a wealthy area , but, we are seeing more & more single practice physicians going into concierge medicine. Single practices are penalized under Obamacare. My husband’s urologist had to put in a $40,000 software upgrade that was required. He’s 50+ & just talking about retiring.

“The American Academy of Private Physicians — which represents cash-only doctors — estimates that the number of concierge doctors has shot up 30 percent in just the last year”

    Effective Millennial Unemployment Rate 16.2%

“After years of deficit spending and government meddling in the economy, 1 in 6 of us don’t have a job. Half of us are doing no better than a part-time job,” he said. “All the while, we are all stuck with a bill that keeps getting bigger. It’s like we’re the last one to leave the bar and everybody else ran out without paying their tab.”
The economy continues to get worse for young voters.

MSNBC’ers Laugh Off ‘One-Day Story’ About Obama’s Controversial Comments About California A.G.

On Friday, the guests and host of MSNBC’s Now laughed off what they considered the inconsequential story of President Barack Obama making objectifying comments about the attractiveness of California Attorney General Kamala Harris. While some feminist commentators aren’t laughing, the MSNBC panel concluded that the president’s offensive comment amounted to a “one-day story.”

@Doug Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Of cause Bush was the one to send the bill to Congress to increase their spending. Not Barney Frank and the GOP voted for it. The Dems were conservative then.

Not Talking about that I meant the Dood/Frank banking reform bill of 2011 which didnlt address the issue of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac they got a pass. Taxpayers had to cover their loses in 2009, 2010 and 2011. So the still holding a bunch of bad loans/moratges, of course the FED’s are buying them now and Now Obama wants them to loan money to people with bad credit to buy houses again. I sure that will work well the second turn around. Tax payers are still on the hook for Fannie mae/Freddie Mac

I believe the number of people who have dropped out of the workforce is the most disturbing number that was released this morning but it is being understated by 500+ (the President and Congress).

MSNBC president seriously believes that within a year they will beat Foxnews…. Seriously…. LOL

“and Now Obama wants them to loan money to people with bad credit to buy houses again.”

Unlike most on here (that seem to make over 100k) I am not wealthy.
I was able to get a home loan because of so called lax standards. Still in the house. Althought I got a fixed rate.
I think most of the problems were from people getting an adjustable rate.
The only problem that I can see with being poor and home ownership is upkeep.

I’m not a Sean Hannity fan because I think he is too partisan , but, I think I will watch him tonight,

“Sean Hannity Special–Boomtown 2: The Business of Food Stamps”

Far from wanting to shrink the size of government, big companies involved with the food stamp program (officially known as SNAP–Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) fight to expand a program that puts more Americans on the welfare rolls while fattening their wallets to the tune of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.

Presented by the Government Accountability Institute. The GAI is a nonpartisan government investigative group devoted to exposing government corruption and cronyism involving taxpayer dollars.

I applaud you for your diligence! But here is the overall problem. The people that bought the homes did not foresee the upkeep but that is only a small part of the problem. They had low credit scores to begin with meaning they have no payment discipline plus they did not use their real income so they really cant afford the house payment. Many do not put the house payment first. They put recreation or luxury first. The adjustable rate loans are a whole other problem but for most we have already passed that hump because those were 3 – 5 year balloons and most of those came due by 2011.

Being “poor” and owning a home is not a bad thing if you live in a home that is within your means. Here in Southwest Michigan you can buy homes for 10 or 15 thousand dollars but at least you still own it!! I have a client right now that bought a home for 15k and has lived there for a few years but are now buying a home for 45k. Still not a great home but in a better neighborhood and a little bigger. They will sell the old one for about the same amount they paid for it. That is the way it should be done! small incremental steps within your means!

Again Dreamer, I applaud you for your wisdom and money management!
