Tonight, Hannibal premieres in what has become NBC's death slot, Thursday at 10PM.  The timeslot's numerous casualties include Do No Harm, Awake and The Firm. Hannibal  has the benefit of being based on a popular character as well as the audience's seemingly insatiable hunger for shows about serial killers. But it still faces tough odds. How do you think it will do? Make your predictions then post your favorite fava bean recipes in the comments.

If is so bad that nbc wait almost for the summer to air it i guess 1.3.

strait to series not working no matter how cheap one show is still need pilot. NBC will learn that lesson soon.

I really, really hope it will get 2.0 or better….

I think it will definitely do better then Do No Harm but I doubt it will do well enough to get renewed in this timeslot.

1.4 Lead-in is GO. Plus new Scandal and Elementary. I highly doubt you’re going to see a lot of channel changing here.

  • CBSviewer

I really hope it gets a 1.8 or higher. It looks good but we’ll see.

It’s gotten good to great reviews, for the most part, so I doubt quality is the issue.

To be rather brief, I’ll simply summarize my views on this show instead of going into great detail. Suffice it to say that as long as it doesn’t do worse than Do No Harm, it’ll probably be renewed. (Supposedly, it’s been financed by international sales, although I am not sure how much that has made a difference so far.) It’s a bold show and fits in well with a part of the week, Sundays after football ends, where NBC might want to program–and yes, that takes into account the Olympics and everything else. It also seems like the sort of show that could grow quite easily if it doesn’t strike it hot right out of the gate.

For the life of me I can’t see why they’re putting this here rather than Tuesday. I’m pretty sure that a lot of their target audience is watching Elementary or Scandal and probably won’t stop at this late date for a new show; I’m sure however it does Hannibal would have done considerably better Tuesday and also fairly sure that Ready For Love would do more or less the same numbers on either night. (And the The Following audience would have been right there to pick up, since Fox doesn’t do 10:00.)

Only advantage to Thursday is that Saturday Tivo watchers get included in C+3, which I guess might be their plan.

    I hope it does well

the reviews have been really good, but that time slot is a killer (no pun intended)…i’m guessing 1.6…

  • Peter

@Petar, Cheers had a 13 episode committment as well. ER had like a 20 episode committment.

  • Oliver

    I think it might surprise.

I went way low, 1.1. I certainly hope I’m wrong, but I’m just not sure how excited people are to check this out. I know I am, but I’m old enough to know who Hannibal Lecter is. The few teasers I’ve seen on NBC for the show haven’t been very enticing or explanatory as to what it’s about. Why would you tune in for something you know next to nothing about?

  • Peter

@Oliver, Well, The Hannibal TV show page on Facebook has approximately 86,000 likes.

Hannibal movies have a lot of fans over the country, I think a lot of us will see at least the premiere.. and depending how it goes it could grow or dip.. I guess around 2

  • Josh

Not expecting much but I will go with 2.3-2.5

I know I am looking forward to the show tonight – will be watching. Unfortunately, I am not part of the Nielsen ratings, so the fact that I am watching will not matter much.

  • charliesheenisfunny

I think it will debut to a 2.3.

I don’t know if it will be able to maintain the audience either.

  • RG-X

2.0 tonite – then a slow decline – it looks like it has a short 1st run season with May just around the corner…

    Community- 1.2
    Parks- 1.5
    Office- 1.9
    Go On- 1.3
    Hannibal- 2.2

I hope it surprises us all and goes higher.
