Hannibal

Tonight, Hannibal premieres in what has become NBC's death slot, Thursday at 10PM.  The timeslot's numerous casualties include Do No Harm, Awake and The Firm. Hannibal  has the benefit of being based on a popular character as well as the audience's seemingly insatiable hunger for shows about serial killers. But it still faces tough odds. How do you think it will do? Make your predictions then post your favorite fava bean recipes in the comments.

    @Josh

I don’t think anyone that posts on TVBTN’s, is a Neilson viewer.

I agree that if NBC insists on launching the show now, then Tuesday at 10:00 would give it a better shot to get the ‘uncommitted’ viewers to give it a look. I might have, but I’m an Elementary fan.

Tuesday at 10:00 is very arguably the weakest spot on the entire combinge networks weekly schedule.

I actually have a good feeling about this one. Especially since anything above a 1.3 would be “renewal” for NBC.

Absolutely 1.5 or lower. The Goon lead-in is certainly no help. I suppose NBC bombarded Voice viewers with ads for Hannibal but I don’t think it will be any help.

  • Alecia

With both Scandal and Elementary being new and those god-awful promos that doesn’t really telly you what the show is about, I think it’ll be lucky to get a 1.5

Bryan Fuller is a genius, and most of the reviews have been great, aside from a couple ones from douchey reviewers (like the guy from NY Times who literally has never praised a show). It looks like it could be NBC’s best drama easily, and I have no idea why they couldn’t have given it at least a preview after The Voice. This is a bad, bad timeslot for it. Hopefully it can do okay, but I’m guessing around a 1.5.

Same bite as Smash, Do No Harm, Awake…

It definitely could surprise. It’s an iconic character, after all. People may not tune in live, but they could DVR it to watch later and get hooked, if it is as great as the critics say it is.

I won’t get my hopes up, but if it rates a 2.0, it would be a pleasant surprise.

I do want Hannibal to succeed because it is about time the Thursday @10PM slot to be competitive. For too long Elementary and Scandal have had no real competition, and as a result their ratings look better than other 10PM shows. If Hannibal delivers, maybe we could see a situation where Elementary and Scandal will be no different than the other 10PM shows (i.e. high 1s to low 2s)

1.2 tonight and free-fall after that. NBC keeps it on for its order, but no more. Finishes with a 0.8, up from the 0.7 the past week.

The optimistic part of me is hoping for a 2+. The realistic part of me expects a low 1 and would probably be happy with anything above a 1.5

Well behind these loser comedies it doesn’t have a real chance even if it premieres solid this week its not going to be able to keep up with Scandal or Elementary. They’ll be lucky if they can get anywhere close to Chicago Fire numbers.

  • Andrea

Although Internet chatter doesn’t always reflect in the ratings, there has been ALOT of pre-air chatter about this show online.

I think it will debut strongly. 3.0 or above.

  • Nick

Why do I have a feeling this is going to be a hit for NBC? It’ll probably premiere well, dip, but NBC will still renew it and air it Monday at 10pm next season after The Voice and it’ll become the hit Revolution never was.

At least that’s what they should do. But knowing NBC, they’ll renew Revolution and keep it on Mondays, in denial of how badly it’s actually doing.

  • Kenny

    1.0 maybe….

I’m excited cause I love Bryan Fuller. I think that of all the shows NBC has put in this timeslot in the past few years, this is the one with the best chance of making to season 2. I’m gonna say it premieres around a 2.2, then drops until it evens out around a 1.7.

  • FlorinDobri

I know that every single show for a while has done horrible in that time slot for NBC, but I really hope that this show breaks the curse. NBC desperately needs something to work for them besides the Voice. So I’m going to say that it’ll do about 2.0-2.2. I really hope that I’m not going to see tomorrow a notice saying that it crashed.

  • MichaelChickless

Hannibal would debut on CBS to a 4.0 rating.

On NBC, I predict it’ll be a “smash” at 2.2.

  • TV Addict

    Cough cough, below a 1.0

Is that guy the same guy who played Le Chifre in “Casino Royale”?
