Tonight, Hannibal premieres in what has become NBC's death slot, Thursday at 10PM.  The timeslot's numerous casualties include Do No Harm, Awake and The Firm. Hannibal  has the benefit of being based on a popular character as well as the audience's seemingly insatiable hunger for shows about serial killers. But it still faces tough odds. How do you think it will do? Make your predictions then post your favorite fava bean recipes in the comments.

People didnt expect The Voice to do that well and it became a hit.

Elementary and Scandal are going to kill Hannibal tonight. I’m guessing a 0.8 for Hannibal.

Social media has proven that it can help determine the premiere ratings for a tv show. Hannibal now has 90,526 likes.

Social media has proven that it can help determine the premiere ratings for a tv show.

I’d be interested in seeing evidence for that.

  • Peter

on facebook. @oktimeforplanc, the difference between Hannibal and most of the others that have aired on Thursdays is that the ads make it look great.

  • Peter

@Holly, Revolution’s premiere and The Following both were trending well on Twitter. In the case of The Following, it trended for about 40 minutes after it premiered.

I feel viewers are going to be interested. I want to see how this show is executed. It has potential so I’m going to say 2.3.

    The Office 2.0

    Hannibal 2.3

And Gossip Girl used to trend on twitter all the time. Didn’t make the ratings any higher.

  • networkman

I’m really curious as to how New Girl and Mindy Project will perform. Hopefully New Girl will be able to beat The Office. I would love to see 2.3 and Mindy Project garnering at least 1.9.

  • Peter

If Hannibal doesn’t trend on Twitter, then we’ll know that it did badly.

  • Peter

@Holly, Except that Gossip Girl which still gets lower ratings than NBC.

  • Peter

@Holly, another show whose premiere was helped by online buzz was Once Upon a Time.

@Holly, Except that Gossip Girl is on the CW which still gets lower ratings than NBC. Why doesn’t this site have an edit feature?

I really hope Hannibal is really good and it’s get a Walking Dead effect.
The previews were really good, but it doesn’t say the show is too.

    8:00- 1.1
    8:30- 1.5
    9:00- 2.0
    9:30- 1.4
    10:00- 1.9

  • Holly

I don’t think you know what it means to prove something. Anecdotal evidence is not convincing. Demonstrate that shows with a lot of likes or whatever do better overall than shows with fewer likes or twitter mentions.

Oh God, please, let this show not only be good but also, let the American public be smart enough to realize it because if show turns out to be awesome and it gets canceled so Americans can watch the stupid Kardashians, I’m seriously going to take a sledgehammer to my tv. Either that or throw out the window.
