smash season 2

Tonight, Smash moves to the dreaded Saturday burnoff timeslot. It's most recent episode earned a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating, and that was with the assistance of an episode of  The Voice. It has gone as low as 0.7. It will face unusually strong Saturday competition from the NCAA Basketball Tournament. So how do you think Smash is going to do tonight? Make your predictions.

    Why are they even bothering with airing it on Saturday night? At this point it should have already been put to pasture

  • Jon

    Why doesn’t network tv go back to a Saturday night at the movies? Whatever happened to made for network tv movies?

  • One eye

    It’s dead Jim.

  • Darkridedan

    This show gets better and better. I can see why they’re sticking it out ( that, and the expense.) I don’t know whether I like it better tonight because of the new night (I’m home, sick in bed) or the new time. I’ll believe this show is cancelled when it gets cancelled. >.9

  • AniMatsuri

    Just for the record <0.4 now that it's on a hardly anyone watching night with no backing from The Voice.

    @AniMatsuri
    It does have a repeat of The Voice behind it though which is better than a repeat of any other NBC show. Someone who missed The Voice on Tuesday may watch it tonight and then keep the TV on for Smash.
    But still, I do think the show is dead, and, as I stated earlier, I think it will get 0.4. Which is a shame, as I saw the very beginning of Tuesday’s episode and the show is on right now though I’m not really watching it and it seems entertaining. I’m surprised it’s not doing so well. But maybe I like it so much because I’m a somewhat of a theatre person.

  • AniMatsuri

    Considering Smash gets 0.9 out of a new episode of The Voice, one can only imagine the free fall(<0.4) that will happen every week until the series finale on Saturdays.

    Plus, the damage is already done from last season that all the fixes this season almost don't matter since no one's paying attention.

  • Brad

    So sad how this show fell apart

  • Robert

    I think it’s obvious why the show is still on the air. All epiodes have already been shot and they make extra money by selling the new songs on itunes… I hope they broadcast the whole season. I don’t care at which timeslot.

    @Jon
    Whatever happened to made for network tv movies?

    They became less and less successful, so the networks continually cut back on their hours. However, they’re not completely gone (e.g. the Hallmark Hall of Fame movies).

    “Considering Smash gets 0.9 out of a new episode of The Voice, one can only imagine the free fall(4 demo as the halo effect is squandered well before Smash begins at 10.

    @AniMatsuri
    Smash has never aired out of The Voice this season. Go On and New Normal have been out of The Voice and then Smash. By the time NN comes on the best it was able to muster as a lead in for Smash was a 1.4 lead in for its finale, otherwise it was even lower then a 1.0 before that as a lead in.

    Smash is still going to do horrible on saturdays, but it hasn’t had any benefit from The Voice’s >4 demo as the halo effect is squandered well before Smash begins at 10.

  • RS

    In pure, unadulterated hindsight, show, don’t you think it would have been a good idea to give the “Blonde Bombshell” role to the blonde bombshell (Hinty) on the show rather than the ingenue from Hell that no one likes. And killing off the obnoxious-beyond-words-with-no-redeeming-characteristics director would have helped also. I watched last year, but not this year.

  • Max

    @RS I guess you should be watching this year…
    So…
    what WERE the ratings?

  • MissmeLissa

    Everyone here is very mean! I love this show. I really don’t understand the ratings system so I can not guess, however why don’t the ratings include online viewers? I would guess ratings are down in general because several American’s are watching their TV on line in some fashion.

    This is a great show! Sorry if you do not feel the same but with all the stupid reality TV these days, I perfer to get lost in the drama of good Television!

    I love Smash :(
