    you are right, but we are about a nation of 325 million. 2.8 million or 2.7 million is nothing that is where a 6 million plus viewer advantage is important alex…

    That 6 million viewer advantage is absolutely meaningless when I’m paying to reach a specific demographic that those 6 million viewers aren’t a member of. CBS don’t get to charge a ‘total viewer surplus’ that’s not how advertising sales work.

    @PARIS “I’M NOT INSULTING ANYONE HERE.”

    Really?

    Here are some PARIS quotes from April 2, 2013 6:02 pm

    “Why Revenge fans couldn’t be just dumb? They have to be lunatic too?….. How pathetic these Revenge fans are. Almost as pathetic as the show they love.”

    That’s typical bullying troll behavior to play the victim and accuse others of their own atrocities.

    Surprised Scandal was adjusted down but oh well still great ratings.

    Yay at Big Bang Theory!

    No i am saying that this is my logic for these (type of) people. I am not kid or teen and as you know i am not hater. When i critic is only because ratings or don’t like something that i watch. But from month or so i don’t critic at all. Only support my favorite PoI. But still think people should be critical. We all want to watch better shows not worse. unfortunately this year trand is bad.

    As expected.

    @Paris.
    U could hate revenge but the way that u express that hate is just bothersome it’s good that ur show is doing well but no need for the hate. What’s ur reason for ur hate on revenge? Have u even watched that show?

    Nice catch if Paris continues with this behavior he or she should be banned from this site

    POI is still killing it in audiences which have never struck me as irrelevant as some people like to make it out to be. It’s Demos are on par with most of CBS dramas. I also think it’s doing pretty darn well considering it’s incredibly erratic scheduling. (Seriously, 3 week break, 1 new eppy, another 3 week break?) It’s still averaging over 14mil a week, which is terrific, IMO. It’s Demo goes up and down pretty randomly. Overall, it’s slaughtering Grey’s in ratings and it’s a strong contender in the Demo. I think CBS should be thrilled.

    Scandal is doing good, but it’s not the powerhouse it’s made out to be.

  • Sarah

    I think it’s time to let American Idol die.

  • Keith

    I think we all know why Marty and Marquee 922 no longer work in sales. They can’t grasp a basic concept.

  • Richard Steven Hack

    It amuses me that some people here require not just that their show get renewed for another season, but that it must dominate the night, the competition, the rest of the shows on the network and the rest of the frickin’ universe including The Walking Dead and North Korea. :-)

    I’m happy if my shows get renewed. Period. I’m even happy if shows I watch and don’t like get renewed – unless it’s Revolution or something awful like that.

    Or BATB… :-)

    Go On is nothin without The Voice, Cancelled.

    I seriously don’t understand why people on this site can’t comprehend that total viewership doesn’t matter. Ever heard of Harry’s Law? It was the most viewed drama on NBC last season, but the A18-49 ratings were horrible, so it was cancelled.

    Overall, it’s slaughtering Grey’s in ratings and it’s a strong contender in the Demo.

    Person of Interest is not “slaughtering” Grey’s Anatomy at all. Grey’s Anatomy usually wins in A18-49 and always dominates in A18-34 as well as all the key women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54). Person of Interest only wins in total viewership which, like it or not, is irrelevant, and A25-54. Not to mention that Grey’s Anatomy is seven years older and has a lead-in over two points lower than Person of Interest’s…

    @Keith

    :lol: Haha, so true!

    @ MARTY

    These kids on here learn about the ratings from this site and they think they know everything. When a couple of people who were actually in the business try to help them understand that those extra 6 million viewers do matter they want to be a smart a– and be disrespectful about it.

    Keith is a straight up lost cause I’m not even going to go back and forth with him. The guy is still trying to teach us something we have more knowledge about than him. He doesn’t even realize that the 18-49 demo they post on this site isn’t even the main demographic for both of those shows its the 25-54 for POI and 18-49 women for Grey’s and usually how we do it is if the demos are close enough with the competition for the product were selling to the networks we look and see how big the viewership is in this case the viewership definitely matters more than the demo itself does.

  • Robbie Bishop

    @Melissa;
    “Grey’s” used to pull 15-22 million viewers with a huge demo, so of course it’s going to do better than PoI; it still has an audience (even if it’s smaller than it used to be).

    I’m not sure why GA and PoI fans have to be at eachother’s necks all the time. They’re both great shows that do well in their timeslots…

  • Keith

    These little whippersnappers like Keith today. Man, I tell ya…

    But in all seriousness, your previous point was that the advertisers should care more about buying ads on POI than Grey’s since POI has 6 million more viewers that are (likely) older than 49. Yet you are now stating that Grey’s only cares about the 18-49 demo for Women. So again, please explain why the 6 million viewers over 49 matter to the advertisers for Grey’s? They don’t!

  • Melissa

    What’s all this about the third season being the best for dramas? I can only think of five dramas that peaked in season three:

    CSI (2002-03) – 10.0
    CSI: Miami (2004-05) – 7.5
    Without a Trace (2004-05) – 6.5
    House (2006-07) – 7.9
    Grey’s Anatomy (2006-07) – 9.4

    Are there any that I’m missing?

  • BrieK

    I honestly think one of the dumbest moves was FOX moving Idol from Tuesdays and Wednesdays to Wednesdays and Thursdays a few years ago. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Their reasoning didn’t make sense. I hope NBC has learned from that mistake and does not try and move The Voice to Thursdays.

  • Mickey 1.0

    [Since another Mickey has jumped into the fray, and I was the original Mickey, I've tagged on a 1.0.]

    Man, why is it always the monster hits that don’t need the help that adjust up? And three tenths, no less! And nary an upward tick for Community, Go On or Hannibal. And why am I always rooting for the underdog?

    @Cass

    Half hours have nothing to do with adjustments. The half-hours you see that come out with the prelim ratings are also preliminary. Only the half-hours from the final ratings would let you see why a show is adjusted up or down.

    I’ve long known half hours don’t predict adjustments, but never knew why, so thanks for that. It makes perfect sense. In fact, it’s so obvious, I should’ve thought of it on my own.

  • Keith

    @Melissa, please stop using data to back up your claims. You’re making it harder for people like Petar to just make stuff up in order to force his Person of Interest agenda on us. ;-p
