CBS was number one with adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On CBS, the NCAA Basketball Tournament Final Four notched a huge preliminary 5.1 rating from 8-11PM, up  2 percent from last year's 5.0.

On ABC, a special episode of 20/20 about the fiftieth anniversary of General Hospital garnered a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating, beating a new episode of Smash.

On NBC, the first Saturday episode of Smash scored a series low 0.5 adults 18-49 rating , down 44 percent from a 0.9 on Tuesday. Your predictions were about right.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  • The #1 Smash Hater.

Bye bye, Smash. Lol. 0.5. LOL LOL LOL LOL.

  • lukas

    ouch the voice..

  • Roy

    Smash gets smashed!

  • Melanie

So, the title “Smash” is really pretty ironic . . . . .

  • KevinSW

Honestly, considering it only did 0.2 below it’s last season Low, i expected it to crash and burn….but it ony crashed.

  • SJ

So people purposefully tuned out of a repeat at 8pm and tuned back into a repeat at 10pm, going out of their way to avoid a new Smash episode at 9pm? Wow! That’s a first.

  • The Cool Max

NBC will somehow write a press release saying ” how great Smash numbers are.” Cancel it already, please!

  • alexjones

smash did a bit better than I thought it would, I was expecting something around a 0.3.

  • 728huey

Ouch at everything not the NCAA Final Four. I don’t think very many people watched anything on network TV last night outside of the Final Four, and I wonder how much worse it will be next week.

BTW, for those people wondering why CBS keeps the NCAA tournament in the early rounds when they could show BBT reruns and get higher ratings, last night was why. And I predict Monday night will be even bigger.

  • forg

I got Smash ratings correct! OK repeat rating for The Middle on Saturday

  • Danak

Not a surprise for Smash. I figured a 0.4 so pretty close. I think a lot of viewers didn’t realize it was on this Saturday or forgot about the move. The Voice repeat was somewhat suppressed from what it’s done in the past, probably due to NCAA basketball (that a pretty huge number for a Saturday).

So is there a chance this site would post final numbers when they come in? I know you don’t normally bother, but I would think people would be interested given there was a live NCAA event going on. Is there any site that does post final Saturday numbers?

  • TheFloppingFails

Wow The Flopping has horrible repeat numbers.

The critically acclaimed “Smash” even beat it! Just poor awful for FOX.

  • Julia

    HAIL!

  • SB

Seriously, how many nights a week can NBC run The Voice? It is on again tonight.

  • PJM

Smash was tied by a rerun of How to Live With Your Parents? Ouch!

Oh, and I don’t think Fox gives a rat’s ass about what a repeat of The Following does. It did a 2.2 on Monday, so that’s what counts.

  • Ultima

    @Danak
So is there a chance this site would post final numbers when they come in?

The late game (Michigan-Syracuse) will be in the broadcast top 25 on Tuesday. The early game probably won’t be because it’s not considered primetime programming.

Is there any site that does post final Saturday numbers?

SpotVault typically has them up on Wednesday.

  • martin

will it least Smash beat out the Following!

anyway Smash will be on every Saturday! Yay!

and of course sports of any kind will beat out regular tv shows- duh

  • rob60990

Smash did better than I expected. Surprised HTLWYP grew from The Middle.

  • John A

Why are people mocking Smash? Its burn off of a cancelled show so who cares?

  • Ultima

will it least Smash beat out the Following!

Wow, an original of Smash beat a repeat of The Following in total viewers.

The Following repeat did better in the demo (0.5/2 vs 0.5/1), which is actually what matters.
