Cable News Viewers Are Getting Smarter – Dumping Fox News

In the first quarter of 2013 the trends for cable news viewership are affirming past performance. And once again, Fox News is losing viewers at a faster rate than its competitors.

While remaining on top overall, Fox lost nearly 20% of its total audience as compared to the same period last year. Even worse, in the critical advertising demographic of 18-54 year olds, Fox scared off a full third of their viewers. Only MSNBC managed to stay relatively flat, holding onto most of their audience.

  • Ralph Hahn

ATTENTION: Despite the claim by “Jeffie” above, Fox News is STILL NUMBER 1 overall and in the key cable news demos. More important that ratings, Fox News made FOUR TIMES as much $$$ MONEY $$$ in commericial billings than MSDNC. Figures don’t lie but liars figure.

Oh, there was much weeping on the 3rd floor of 30 Rock today. Maddow can’t beat Hannity in the demo anymore.

IF Fox is losing viewers by as much as “Jeffie” claims, than MSDNC is losing more. It makes sense, doesn’t it? Also, last year we had a Presidential election which brings waves of more cable news viewers than in other years.

MSDNC is in fact on the run from CNN, which is #2 behind Fox in key slots in the 25-54 demo. Hell, even HLN has been coming in 3rd on some nights, leaving MSDNC the luck number ‘FOUR’!

More bulls#i! from “Jeffie” who CLAIMS that the the key demo group is 18-54. It is 25-54 for cable news and 18-49 for television entertainment.

I have a bulls#1tometer from “Jeffie” and his palsa, and the needle remains stuck in the positive position. It’s like a geiger counter, and they’re slinging and its coming back like a boomarang. ROFLMBO!

  • moncon

Another week of MSNBC trending downward.

  • Sicilian Papa

Tingles 82k in key demo. I predicted 50k by summer. I so love watching MSNBC sink into oblivion. I know big daddy NBC Universal can keep them alive but I think they should ask for “a do resuscitate order” for that patient.

  • Sicilian Papa

CNN nearly beat MSNBC in key demo and overall. CNN posted gains in all time slots. It may be just a matter of time before MSNBC is number 3.

  • Ralph Hahn

    Ohhhh..that

  • Ralph Hahn

Ohhhhhhhh….that Doug Z is a sneaky baldface liar, too.

    What a ridiculous comparison.

He compared the ratings of morning show Fox and Friends (which airs 6-9AM) to Rachel Maddow’s ratings at 9PM (PRIME TIME)! Morning viewers only watch a small portion of the morning show because they leave for work at different hours. If it’s a one-hour prime time show, viewers will likely stick around for the whole show.

How can these weasels get away with posting the bullcr@p???

  • Jeff

    Hey Ralphie!!

It’s a well known fact Fox viewership Is DOWN, not sure if you missed that, or just choose to ignore the facts. These are NOT my claims “silly” they are the trends. Feel free to google or remain in the delusion of your comfort zone. Either way facts are facts and if that upsets you, don’t get mad at me…..I do not watch Fox News garbage, be mad at your former fellow Fox New viewers that bailed out after Fox mislead their viewers and the smart viewers changed the channel to Storage Wars or Duck Dynasty instead.

  • Sicilian Papa

I was polled by a ratings news organization last week. My cousin and I both told them we no longer watch any of the corrupt, secular, left wing, so-called objective media. This is big because we both used to tune into the corrupt, secular, left wing, so-called objective media on a daily basis. They may be able to survive with independents and liberals but I know conservatives have tuned them out. We, on the right, are huge consumers of news and our advertising dollars are being missed.

  • Chriscee

Sad fact liberals….MSNbs is DYING!!! Get used to it!

  • Sicilian Papa

Keep it up righties, our unofficial boycott of the corrupt, secular, left wing, so-called objective media is yielding results. Why should we watch left wing propaganda disguised as news!

    This surprised me.

PoliceOne.com Releases Survey of 15,000 Law Enforcement Professionals about U.S. Gun Control Policies

    – – –

The leading online resource for law enforcement, today released findings from a national survey of police professionals that provide insight into the opinions of American law enforcement regarding gun control policies and the root causes of and potential solutions to gun crime in the United States

The survey, which was conducted in early March 2013, received 15,000 responses from law enforcement professionals. It found that the overall attitude of law enforcement is strongly anti-gun legislation and pro-gun rights, with the belief that an armed citizenry is effective in stopping crime.

•86 percent feel the currently proposed legislation would have no effect or a negative effect on improving officer safety

•Similarly, 92 percent feel that banning semi-automatic firearms, or “assault weapons,” would have no effect or a negative effect on reducing violent crime

•Demonstrating the opinion that the best way to combat gun crime is through harsher punishment, 91 percent said the use of a firearm while perpetrating a crime should lead to a stiff, mandatory sentence with no plea bargains. Likewise, 59 percent believe increasing punishment severity for unlicensed dealers would reduce crime

•Respondents were more split on background checks, with 31 percent agreeing that mental health background checks in all gun sales would help reduce mass shootings, while 45 percent disagreed

•71 percent support law enforcement leaders who have publicly refused to enforce more restrictive gun laws within their jurisdictions

•82 percent believe gun buyback or turn-in programs are ineffective in reducing the level of gun violence

•91 percent support the concealed carry of firearms by civilians who have not been convicted of a felony and/or have not been deemed psychologically incapable

•Likewise, 80 percent feel that legally-armed citizens would likely have reduced the number of casualties in recent mass shooting incidents

•38 percent believe the biggest cause of gun violence in the United States is the “decline in parenting and family values”. This was

How sweet would it be to see 1%ers like Williams, Pelly, Couric, George Step. and Gregory have to take pay cuts or lose their gigs.

  • Ralph Hahn

Jeffie: You are posting your ‘trends and you’re asking ME to confirm it? No. YOU post those Tricky Dicky numbers and YOU back up your dung with the actual sources.

You KEEP on repeating yourself that Fox News is down from last year. As I have cited, ALL cable news is down because last year was a Presidential election. IF in fact Fox News is down, it’s because there is less interest in politics than it was last night. Fox televised just about all of the GOP Presidential debates and the Romney-Obama debates. And, Fox blew EVERYONE in the dust, passing even the broadcast network news divisions..

Next time, try ‘learning’ what people like me are trying to teach you. Are you that stupid that your mind cannot retain information, or are you just playing with us repeating and repeating and repeating. If you’re tossing dung at the side of the barn, it’s likely to stick. We conservative posters have to correct you guys all the time because most of your ‘facts’ are from articles by Democrat bloggers that you simply cut and paste.

  • Todd

I think this Jeff guy just learned how to cut and paste.. he found a libtard web sight and went nuts……what a goof

    total revenue in millions
    Fox News $ 1,601.5
    MSNBC 409.2
    CNN/HLN 1,94.2

What is wrong with MSNBC. revenue a little low? With all those young viewers the revenue should beat fox News

  • Mark

What’s the use about debating about ratings, simple fact is it’s an off year for elections ratings will go down for all stations. Unless there is a story that might boost ratings for a week or 2 I am guessing rating will be down till primary time for Senate and House seats next year

Till then Nancy Grace will benefit off of her trial porn she likes to pander(Is anymore “hot chick” trials she can cover that have absolutely no relevance to what should be news coming up?)
