Dancing with the Stars” Hits Best-Since-Premiere Performance in Women 18-34

ABC’s Encore “Castle” is Mondays’ Most-Watched Scripted Program,

Outdrawing First-Run Telecasts of NBC’s “Revolution” and Fox’s “The Following”

Dancing with the Stars” (8:00-10:00 p.m.)

Gaining viewers and young adults from its first hour to its second hour, despite going up against the 2013 NCAA Basketball Championship Game, ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” grew week to week in Women 18-34 (+6% - 1.8/5 vs. 1.7/5) to post a best-since premiere number.

Castle” (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

During the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s repeat “Castle” outdrew an original of NBC’s “The Voice”-driven “Revolution” by 1.1 million viewers (7.4 million vs. 6.3 million). In addition, the encore ABC drama stood as Monday’s most-watched scripted series (4th straight telecast), also topping Fox’s first-run “The Following(6.2 million from 9:00-10:00 p.m.) by 1.2 million viewers.  “Castle” delivered its most-watched repeat telecast in nearly 2 years – since 4/25/11.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 47% currently, from 43% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
