With effectively no suspense at all left with Fox's renewal and cancellation decisions, the Cancellation Bear is forced to continue to highlight the obvious.

While it's certain that Glee will be renewed, the cancellation bear receives a constant stream of inquiries hopeful of its cancellation from the show's anti-fans. Sadly for them, teeth gnashing over the outcome is inevitable.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, I will keep the "old"  Fall predictions in the table.

Want to know what the Fox Renew/Cancel Index table looked like at the end of the Fall season? Click here.

Notes:

  • :oops: - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • :cry: :cry:- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  • :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    I think FOX can still easily renew Cleveland Show for a shortened season. Remember, in the fall, FOX has football, which cut in very often to Cleveland Show’s air tiem of 7:30. I think FOX could easily abandon that time slot in the fall and air reruns there when needed, and then bring back the show in the spring.

    @Bill

    You should try to predict which character will be “cancelled” from Glee. XD

    Except that FOX has already ordered another animated show for midseason.

    They already have their animated shows for next year and The Cleveland Show is not one of them. Upcoming renewals will be for the 2014-15 season.

    I would bail on the 4th hour of comedy on the Monday-Thursday schedule. I would go with:

    Monday
    Bones
    Glee Final Season [13 eps]/ The Following

    Tuesday
    Delirium
    New Girl
    New Comedy

    Wednesday
    The X-Factor
    The X-Factor
    New Comedy [the talent shows ratings are not high enough that they would loose as much as before here… if it doesn’t work they can just cancel it easily]

    Thursday
    The X-Factor Results
    Human or Boomerang

    Friday
    Raising Hope [Final Season]
    The Mindy Project [They just need something to pair with RH for the final season and be done with it]
    Kitchen Nightmares

    They need to invest heavily in new dramas because right now they have the following which can only run for half a year and they have a still holding yet inevitably fading Bones, which as much as we want, will not be around forever. Comedies are good but they need to stabilize their schedule before. And this still gives them enough room to premiere 2 new comedies.

  • The End

    @Andrew

    They spend something like weeks on each episode. Then you have the voice over time. I don’t think you’l have enough episodes to make it for the fall schedule.

    Considering the really vocal Glee anti-fans are just homophobic bigots this news makes me happy.

  • chris

    im a glee antifan because the show has never been good, and im not a homophobic bigot

  • Jonay

    Next season i think Bill should do reality shows on the renew/cancel index!!! (^_^)

  • Charmed

    Glee will be renewed for a full season, it won’t air on Friday and it won’t be for 13 episodes.

  • Sky

    @smg77

    Funny, because most anti-fans I come across are former fans of the show (like me) who hate how terrible it has become and just want it to go away. When Glee’s not being offensive (like how they handled Santana’s coming out or the domestic abuse storyline or the blatant sexism that rears its head time and time again), it’s boring – recycling storylines over and over. The show stopped being funny a long time ago.

    And as a person who identifies as LGBT, I think Glee is actually awful in that regard, and I wish GLAAD would call them out on their crap instead of praising them all the time.

    Sadly, this anti-fan will have to deal with its existence for another year, because the ratings warrant its renewal.

  • Ted Craig

    People, TMP was not renewed to be burned off on Fridays or midseason. I don’t have any direct numbers, but I do have plenty of reason to believe TMP delivers a fairly affluent audience.

  • Patrick Ausgewahlt

    I love The Cleveland Show. I would much rather see Bob’s Burgers cancelled. But at least I know tons of people won’t be out of work when it’s done. Cleveland can just move back to Quahog. And I think it’s still a possible renewal. It’s problem this season was that it’s 6:30 time slot kept on being taken by Football and Baseball. It premier on October 7 and took a full month off. It only aired 7 in the fall. I could see them renewing it for post football season.

  • omabin

    @Ted Craig,

    I realize that you are probably right, but I think they made a mistake renewing the Mindy Project, its numbers do not warrant a renewal, especially with fox having very limited space on its schedule at the moment. Besides, they do need something to pair raising hope with on fridays (the other option is burning it off double on fridays), but i think this one is better.

  • Michael1

    If Cleveland does not get syndicated, would it be possible to sell the episodes as part of the “Family Guy” series?

  • Ultima

    @Micahel
    If Cleveland does not get syndicated

    Turner picked it up for syndication on TBS and Adult Swim almost three years ago.

  • Josh Eady

    Glee will run for seven seasons and then its over..

  • Josh Eady

    Glee will run for seven seasons then its over… possibly a movie

  • DM

    Is it likely for another network like Adult Swim who already has rights to The Cleveland Show to pick it up?

  • CrimTV

    I defiantly don’t think Fox will move Glee to Fridays, they’ll keep it on Tuesdays/Thursdays

  • CrimTV

    Also with music sales from all of the CD’s and it’s quite large around the world (yes I know they don’t really mean a lot but still)
