With effectively no suspense at all left with Fox's renewal and cancellation decisions, the Cancellation Bear is forced to continue to highlight the obvious.

While it's certain that Glee will be renewed, the cancellation bear receives a constant stream of inquiries hopeful of its cancellation from the show's anti-fans. Sadly for them, teeth gnashing over the outcome is inevitable.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

From now through the end of the broadcast season in May, the Renew/Cancel Index values will only be calculated using new episodes airing during 2013. However, until new episodes of a show air in 2013, I will keep the "old"  Fall predictions in the table.

Want to know what the Fox Renew/Cancel Index table looked like at the end of the Fall season? Click here.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2013
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

I really enjoyed Idol last night.
The intro featuring several Bacharach/David-Dionne Warwick classics was amazing.
Also nice to see the first Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and the more recent champ Scott McCreery perform.
The elimination was sad but expected.

    @TVFan2013
Why do people continue to make schedule predictions? Waste of time.The.broadcast networks will announce their schedules next month.

You do realize how ridiculous you sound making this comment on an article about PREDICTING what the network will do in May, right?

With a little nip/tuck unpopular is the new normal and they all shout with glee: give us rake instead!

    @Tested
@Fox is not going to renew Glee only to put it on the death night of Friday.

Depends on if it’s the final season or not. Or what the network has available to it. I do agree if Fox has no intention of ending this show that it’l likely retain the same timeslot next season and won’t be moved.

@I do wonder though if Seth Macfarlane is tiring of the cartoons a bit

Nah. He’l be doing his cartoons for most of his career. He’s a more risque Matt Groening lol

They’ll never move Glee to Fridays, it’ll definitely be either Tuesday or Thursday.

I am acting out the ” monster mash” until a show averaging berserk faring fot a 1.06
rating and 1.12 on fox network. What is this – an Nbc bad acted karoake Carrie Diaries time warp machine ?

  • Anthony

Happy to see Glee will be back. I honestly wasn’t worried FOX wouldn’t renew it for another season. Long live Lord and Lady Tubbington! :)

  • Richard

Glee is a very expensive show to make, with all the actors, extensive choreography and music rights. However, Fox has very little in the way of hour-long dramas, and that’ll keep it going for the forseeable future until they get something to replace it/Bones.

  • Bliss

I’m tired of American idol. It’s been over killed. There are too many singing shows and one just has to go.I feel like fox has a lot to offer if it lets go of reality tv shows.

I’m hoping that fox will add delirium, sleepy hollow, I suck at girls and two wrongs.

Or maybe fox could try to air idol over the summer instead. But knowing fox it will probably let the majority of new shows air in the summer.

  • Ace

My theory is that they are still working on contract renewals with Criss, Michelle, Lynch, Morrison, Colfer..exc exc. Im thinking that if the show was ending then FOX would have at least given RM the time to do a big finalie episode.

  • Ace

Also Im sure FOX wants to give the show more episodes so they can make more future money in syndication.

  • ArrestedDeveloper

I recently watched the pilot for Glee and it kinda made me sad to see how far it’s fallen.

  • Mike

What is FOX’s standards for keeping a show on air? Glee’s ratings have tanked big time this season and rightfully so. FOX needs to pull this, and put it out of it’s misery.
