Really great for The Voice. So impressive with ratings going in the opposite direction of Idol. And remember the fanfare about the casting of Minaj/Mariah and the highly publicized fighting. Yes The Voice cast 2 A-Listers who’ve brought so much warmth to the show. Queen Shakira!

Now NBC needs a worthy show post-voice show!

  • Dave

Revolution is such a FLOP! It can’t even retain 50% of the demo lead-in it received!

  • tvwatcher

“Why would NBC want to move Revolution when it’s leveling off at “meh” numbers, already, after a huge lead-in? A move would probably kill it.”
Because NBC would give a new drama the slot behind the Voice to launch it? Why waste a second season show like Revolution next season behind The Voice?
. Wow at The Voice! Shakira!

  • Joe

If you can’t even hold 50% of your lead in, you’re not a hit. The Voice got a 5.0 and Revolution got a 2.2. That’s 44%. That is terrible. You can’t spin that. It would probably get around a 1.6 like Chicago Fire gets without a lead in. I know that’s good enough because its NBC but that isn’t good.

Great for The Voice! A 5.0! NBC exces must be crying out of happiness for this! And of course, Revolution did fine (what wouldn’t after that huge lead in!)

Revolution – two seasons and done. NBC is not in the position to waste another year of the voice lead in to a weak player like Revolution. It might go the same route as Smash next season – moved, tanked and burned-off.

Shakira is firing up The Voice! She has this fantastic personality that you’ll love. She seems a very humble and fun person.

I don’t know why the ratings are higher, but they are higher–for now, at least. Not only is that good for NBC in general, but because the show goes to the middle of June now and might not show any signs of slowing down, the network can confidently schedule it roughly the same way next year. It has the Olympics, so I don’t think they can realistically schedule the show any earlier than the first week of March. They’d probably want to launch it right after the Olympics (although perhaps they would wait for some reason), and even if it starts March 3, it’ll go right into the middle of June again.

For a few reasons, I’ve suspected NBC is eager to launch a few shows in the summer and then bring them back at midseason. If TV continues to stay strong, it might make that process quite a bit easier.

The Voice is doing great compared to Idol dropping every week.

  • Nick

I cant believe how well The Voice did. It actually hit a 5.0 and 14 million viewers. I’m in shock. Thought for sure it would be down this week.

NBC shouldve aired Hannibal after The Voice. At least Hannibal is a watchable show.

  • Jared

Revolution will be next seasons Smash.

Well the Voice/AGT did very solid together two years ago leading into summer. The great thing about the Voice going into late June is that there will be no competition at ALL. NBC did everything right here and they rested it for three months. I honestly think the new coaches chemistry buzz coupled with maybe the Voice is picking up new viewers who are actually Idol fantatics. I wouldn’t be surprised if longtime Idol viewers were so turned off and disgusted with this season they decided to sample the Voice and like what they see. Idol has had a 3 season curse. Season 3,6,9 and 12 and the worst seasons. It doesn’t mean Idol can’t get it together and give us a great season 13. IMO what Idol needs is to to bring back Paula Abdul to the panel. Its funny with Mariah, Nicki, Jennifer Lopez and all these expensive bigtime females, I still miss Paula. She was never about her career or pushing herself, she always about the kids and she was abit wacky in a very sweet lovable way. Honestly I would love to see Idol bring back the original panel for one season. I wish FOX would cancel X Factor which is a total awful show and reuntie Randy-Paula-Simon one last time for nostalstic reason. Them reunited together would bring massive tunein ratings for the premiere.

I just think it’s so funny how people spin the numbers for Revolution when it got a 2.2 out of a 5.0 Voice lead in whereas The Following got the same 2.2 out of a 1.1 Bones rerun.

  • Melissa

Does anyone have the final half-hour ratings for The Voice?

  • s0303

    a 2.2 out of a 5.0??? that’s worse than batb out of tvd…

  • Brittany Reid

if castle wasn’t a repeat, revolution would be at the bottom.

  • Petar Ivanov

Its more funny how many people are haters here and compare 9 pm with 10 pm shows and everything that they can.

  • Antonio

I disagree with most of the comments that Revolution will be the new Smash next season. Smash had already hit a 2.1 rating by it’s 8th episode. Revolution has yet to get to a 2.1 and it is now going on to it’s 14th episode. It is repeatedly pointed out that Revolution doesn’t retain much of The Voice’s audience, yet the two shows are completely different. I believe that much of the viewers that watched Revolution because it was after The Voice have left already and those that still watch are the loyal fans.

  • Grey

    @Britany Reid

“if castle wasn’t a repeat, revolution would be at the bottom.”

I think you may be right. And “Castle” had a bigger audience with that repeat. I know that doesn’t matter to the advertisers and the 18-49 demo but still …. “Revolution” was the mega hit of the season but a repeat of “Castle” draws a larger audience by well over a million?

@Johnny. Sounds like a terrible idea. Paula is old and dated. She didn’t work on XF , and her own talent competition flopped.
