Great game. Great rating. Why would any network put something up against a sporting especially one with a championship on the line.

  • Sacro

Chicago Fire really is NBC’s scripted MVP this year.

Why would any network put something up against a sporting especially one with a championship on the line.

It worked out pretty well for NBC, with The Voice at a 5.0 multi-season high.

Loving Revolution and The Following!!! It still looks like they share the same audience.

The way I see it, Revolution isn’t doing much different than it did last week, . However, this time Revolution had no real competition in the 10 pm slot. Castle was a repeat. Hawaii 5-0 would air a new episode like Castle would on 15/4.

I’d say the competition is just between Castle and Hawaii 5-0, both are procedural.

However, this time Revolution had no real competition in the 10 pm slot.

Actually, it had more competition. It was up against the NCAA Basketball Championship Game, which scored 8.4–twice as much as both Castle and H50 new episodes put together.

I’d say the competition is just between Castle and Hawaii 5-0, both are procedural.

There’s more to it than just that. All three would appeal to viewers who like action, such as myself.

Nobody at the network cares how Revolution compares with other shows on other networks (Castle, H5O), let alone in other timeslots (The Following). But they are likely to be very concerned that not only does it squander its huge lead-in, but it’s dropped nearly half its demo even before the end of its first season. They must be wondering how it will do in the fall and what else they could put in that slot that might work better (especially if a newer show could start out equally big). Not helping the show is that these postapocalyptic stories are never cheap to film and I bet all that Led Zeppelin background music doesn’t come cheap, either.

So, I foresee the show being moved to another night and dropping a lot more should it go to season two (I think it will get a second season, but these things are never sure until the network makes them official). After that? Not unless it gets its ratings act together.

    @Fred
Wow, that’s half the Fan Excuse Bingo card rolled into one paragraph.

There is nothing terrible or mean about saying a show is likely to fail. Few shows make it to pilot, fewer still past a first season (or even a 13 episode order) and very few past a second season. Shows that marginally survive their first season are usually victims of the coin toss networks do at the end of the second season because the execs are really committing to two seasons at once. A show has to be pretty strong in the ratings Force to survive that. And the season six casting renewal hurdle? I think the only shows that make it past that are the ones everybody else ends up imitating, the history makers.

@”I don’t understand these changes they’ve made to Revolution. They’ve turned it into a primetime soap. I’m done.”

It was a soap right from the beginning. I never got the appeal of this show.

True, there was NCAA Basketball Championship Game. Like you pointed out, all three Revolution, Castle, and Hawaii 5-0 are action. They’re different blends of action. So to me it just seems it was either action or sports. A viewer isn’t wondering to watch what kind of action show. Especially if the person is already watching sports in the first place, from 9.00 or 9.30pm.

Revolution just manages to maintain that number, despite the lack of the two other action shows.

Why is everyone bashing Revolution?? Charlie is much better than she was earlier… Anyone think this was a purposely timed transformation of a character? 2.2 is 2.2. Lead in or no lead in there was a basketball game on that no sportsman was missing!! Maybe this audience will stay loyal… How many 2.2′s does NBC have to work with anyway? Give this show a chance…. I had my doubts early on, but I’m hooked now n might want more. N F#%^ Nielsen anyway no normal person watches these shows live anymore… R u kidding?? We need these types of shows.

Best shows on air right now:

    1- Game of Thrones
    2- Person of Interest
3- Revolution (since the midseason finale)

Hope the numbers increase, the show is becoming really good.

Revolution just manages to maintain that number, despite the lack of the two other action shows.

None of that made any sense.

It’s simple math. This past Monday, Revolution was up against 8.4, plus 1.2 for the Castle repeat, for a total of 9.6. The last two new eps of Castle and H50 were 2.2 and 2.1, for a total of 4.3.

9.6 vs 4. 3. Those numbers represent real people who are watching CBS and ABC rather than NBC, and it doesn’t matter that they are watching basketball and a Castle repeat rather than two new eps of Castle and H50. They’re still watching the competing channels instead of NBC.

I said all three were action shows, and thus did compete for some of the same audience, only because you said “I’d say the competition is just between Castle and Hawaii 5-0, both are procedural.” The fact all three are action shows, and how similar or dissimilar they are, does not mean the NCAA championship was not very real competition for Revolution. On the contrary, action shows appeal to men, and so do sports.

So it was actually good that Revolution managed to maintain that number, despite the fact it was up against much stiffer competition than usual.

Is there a problem with last night’s (Tuesday) ratings? It’s after 12 central time now and there’s still no pre-lims post about it. Hope everybody’s okay.

  • grey

Why are the Tuesday numbers so late?

  • grey

You beat me to it Rebecca! :D

  • TVFAN2013

TBBT & 2BG were both repeats seen in about 50.% if the country . Thats why the numbers are so low . I dont think CBS is concerned about it.

  • Rebecca

    @grey
lol and practically right after we posted, the new thread appeared! :D

  • Katelyn

Revolution has really stepped it up since its hiatus. Really enjoying the character dynamics and storyline. Keep it up, NBC!
